Just back from a superb week with my boys at La Plagne, started the week off with powder and sunshine, plenty of good snow up top of grand rochette and roche de mio, they need more below 1800, but snow forecast Monday onwards. There was plenty of off piste, bit much for my 6 year, he’s not far off though. Missing the charcuterie and grimbergen at la bergerie already, next year. I’ve noticed ski-ing kit as gone all mountain now too.

Cloudy bay is lovely, the guys at planet of the grapes recommended Dog Point Sauvignon blanc, very similar but cheaper. Made by the ex head winemaker at cloudy bay, if anyone is interested :)

Quite alarming and in a way reassuring so many of you having similar experiences. I lost my mum back in November after 8+ years coping with Alzheimer’s. It is indeed a dreadful disease, in some ways it’s kinder to the sufferer than those around witnessing the person they love fade away. My mum was lucky in some ways, aricept and anti depressants helped, and she maintained a placid and calm personality, so many get angry and violent, but the moments of frustration that she couldn’t remember simple tasks was unbearable to watch. We did see funny side sometimes, a good coping mechanism, the later stages were to be frank quite horrid, I felt terrible when mum went into full time care and visits became quite difficult for everyone.

I wish you all the best and take all the help you get offered, respite is so important for the carer, it can be a long road.

    Happy to offer any advice.

I stopped my fetish at a frame and King Ti bottle cage, I seriously looked at the kingdom stem, thomson ti bars and ericksen ti post, then had a quiet work myself, more than happy with my bargain easton haven, kinesis struts and xfusion dropper.

    Kinesis struts are very good.

That jack Daniels honey is quite nice from the freezer, might try the sloe gin and fizz. Whiskey mack is my winter fave, got to be stones though, not the same with crabbies. Cement mixer is good fun if you want to play a trick on someone, a large shot of baileys and a shot of lime cordial, curdles in the mouth, disgusting.

Lighting bolt was a big tune for him, he’s been hyped but definitely not talentless.

There’s a route off the trail from polegate to eastbourne via hampden park, all signposted, there’s afew busy roads to cross, all pretty flat. You could get the train to eb from polegate, he”ll manage both ways then.

You’ll be amazed how 10mm difference feels, I went from 690 to 711 to 750, clipped a fair few trees along the way, but 750 feels spot on now, I might try an even shorter stem too.

No chance, new saddle or cut a groove in the plastic so it sits in the right position, bit of a fudge but worked for me. Picked up a sh one cheap on here.

    It’s a bodge

most mtb or bike tech components are a bodge, that’s how things progress, the dropper post is an office chair. BB snobbery is just a bit, well silly.

The BB put me off the Sync.

    praxis works adapter, sorted

    Sync != Fireline IMO

similiar, sync way prettier though IMO of course.

FYI: Sync really designed for 120mm

You do know that there are shops outside London don’t you?

Calm down, Borough Mkt has food and drink from all over the UK and Europe. It’s just more expensive in London so it’s tastes betterer, fact.

Two of those out on their first night ride last night!?

    Where?

Is that a small sized frame?

    Yep, 650b version.

I’ve got the large 29er, still very compact though, the thing flies when you put your foot down. Going to experiment with mine over the winter, layback post and shorter stem, I don’t seem to be using the dropper as much as I normally do. Very impressed with the direct mount rear mech.

I want to go riding now.

That’s a keeper, all you need now is a King Ti bottle cage  I’d be interested to hear how you get on with the Maxlight wheels.

Own boots are definitely the way to go, bought my salomons in formigal 10+ years ago for silly money, still going strong. I personally look forward to trying different skis each year. Used to love the old salomon crossmax but really like the new rossignols.

Where in the alps are you going? Can actually be cheaper on the mountain or just at the bottom, I drive to France and would stop at a decathlon or ski warehouse, you see loads just off the motorways. UK shops have just got new stock in so probably no bargains, Snow & Rock are good IME, especially with returns.

Pretty sure the French have big feet too :) I’d look at Salomon boots, I found Nordic too narrow for my clowns feet.

They just keep pushing the boundaries, awe inspiring. Can’t wait to show my boys when they get home from school.
