My mum, I mean my wife recommends Hugh Fearnly-Whittingstall – Everyday and good old Delia online.

Don’t ever be tempted to grind spices in it though, I made that mistake and could never get rid of the taste of cumin seeds, doh!

I would recommend this coffee though

Mine eventually arrived this week, well worth the wait if it’s any consolation. A lot of typos though.

My wife is laughing over my shoulder whilst I’m reading this, she knows exactly how much my Zesty cost, and is not impressed that’s it’s worth more than our car, or more to the point since I’ve had it I’ve fractured my scaphoid and collarbone, I even asked for knee pads for Christmas, I was promptly reminded that I’m 41.

The Nirvana Sunday ride is great, lot’s of hard to find trails around Redlands, Leith Hill and Pitch, some quite/very technical trails and drop offs, some jumps if that’s your thing, it’s steeper than you think in Surrey. I’d pop in and have a chat with Simon or Jackie at Nirvana about routes. Sunday ride starts at 11.00 sharp, there was 20+ riders when I went, can’t wait to do it again.

Anyone tried Hutchinson’s? I notice Lapierre have switched to H’s from Conties on the 2011 zesty’s.

Heard swampthings only perform well in very deep mud, hence swamp I guess. I too swap wheels around, I even have skinny schwable marathon plus’ for road commuting, couldn’t face buying a road bike.

Bregante – I used to be the same about CBA to change, I now change twice a year, we had a really dry spring/summer so swapped to conty mountain king up front and race king at the rear, the different in rolling speed was amazing compared to the mud x and nevegals, the back end was a bit lively on wet grass though.

Mud x’s, very impressed so far, mud clears the tread instantly and traction was good in the snow, or is it just my tech skills

Now let’s forget about Lennon and get back to talking about our middle class hippy recreational pastime.

Genius is a description used too often maybe, time will tell. He was certainly a creative and talented human being who said and created some amazing things. We could do with more people like John Lennon.

This interview is from 1969 and is still relevant today:

AM40s are ugly boxfresh, bit like golf shoes, get them dirty and then they’re well skillz, they have a cool lace cover and padded inner ankle, wore them out today in the snow and kept me snug, super grippy with my easton flatboys.

If there good enough for Danny Mac.

That’s shocking, add to your email that the least you’d expect is a grit box, ask neighbours to do the same.

    I don’t believe it.

I assume you have a box of grit on your road if it’s 13%, we do it ourselves, we never get grit lorries round our manor, it’s a case of don’t set the house on fire or have a serious illness until the thaw.

Just had a ride around north downs, very hard going, the snow is melting so water logged and heavy and very sticky, still good fun and i’m very impressed with how the zesty with bonty mud x’s performed. Just out of interest, what do you think is better in the snow xc, full sus or ht?

I’d do a speed check with BT Total Broadband, my BT service is great, I had issues with wifi recently, it was due to too much traffic on a particular channel, BT talked me though changing and did some tests remotely, it worked a treat, I’ve also got a ps3 connected by ethernet via a powerline plug, works really well, it’s turns your electricity loop into a local network, very clever.

currymad – I went through the same dilemma last year, I test rode both Blur and Zesty 514, I discounted the 5 purely on looks, I know, I know, but if you going to spend best part of 3k you’ve got to like looking at it. Anyway, I’d just like to say the the Zesty just made me smile and still does, it’s very very fast up and downhill, get some mud x’s on this time of year and it’s still a very lively bike, the blur didn’t leave that much of an impression to be honest, a different day and it may of. No regrets buying the Zesty, the only regret I have is that I don’t get to ride it as much as I want to. The 2011 spec 714 is pretty amazing if you can stretch to it.

Without argument, there can be no opinion

I’m sure I heard Ed Miliband say that recently.
