Yeah, my head hurts from banging it on the wall.
I should learn how to use it really, but can’t afford to buy it.
I used to use a program called choicecad. Simple as you like !!
I turned off the layers and didn’t see any layers for a centreline. So how does 3d autocad work then?
Do you select a beam profile and pick 2 points it goes between ? Does that beam then have properties ( i.e beam size / length etc). Could you select all parts in a 3d model and produce a list of beams (like what you could do in 3d detailing software like Strucad.
Any thoughtsrevs1972Free MemberI’ve bought a few things off here and have fortunately have had good experiences.
If PayPal gift is being asked for I just add 3% to the value and pay by normal PayPal.
Not a lot to pay for the “insurance” of getting ur money back in the case of a rogue scammerrevs1972Free MemberYeah, I noticed that when you pay by PayPal it seems to add 2 days delay
Paid for next day delivery on another item a while back and it took 2 days. Did get a refund on postage after contacting them though.
revs1972Free Memberthat Trimble looks like it could show promise too
although it looks like it may be expensiverevs1972Free MemberHe built those bikes as bespoke models, so I guess you could do what ever you like to get the correct height etc
The frame in muppetWranglers picture looks like it would be ideal for modification. Im looking at that and thinking chop the tubes off and cap the ends then weld in a stiffening gusset into the triangle left.
Im not a frame builder or anything , but if you were to use say a 400mm long seatpost to get your height, set it at correct height , then chop off the bottom of the tube / btm bracket so it is flush with the bottom of the post.
i would imagine 24 inch wheels would be good as the bike would be smaller and possibly easier to control.
Sounds like a planrevs1972Free MemberI guess something like Graeme Obrees “old faithful” but without the extension for the bottom bracket, and a more suitable riding position.
(have a look at the picture on wikipedia).
Does his cerebral palsy effect both legs, or just one side ?revs1972Free MemberJust thinking out loud but…….
would it be possible to “upscale” one of the wooden type balance bikes
to small adult size ?
Maybe need a bit of engineering, but should be fairly straightforward for someone in the know.revs1972Free MemberThe wife commented that the outside looked dreadful….”looks like a lifeboat house”
Doh !
revs1972Free Memberdo you use groupon ? if not join as there are some good offers

That should get rid of the little fekkersrevs1972Free Membermariokart !
my 4yr old can almost win a race, but has a habit of waiting on a corner for his “friends” to catch up
Moderate to an hour max if they are being good, and never near bed time. My wife not entirely happy with it but I feel it teaches eye/hand co-ordination etc (well thats my excuse anyway)
Just dont ever leave the XBOX on with COD loaded with Zombies. He keeps running round nursery telling people he will shoot their head off.

revs1972Free Memberwhat a mouthy cockney ****
fair shout for calming it down
like a little yappy terrior (him)revs1972Free MemberWhy didnt they get the last bolt in ?
looks like theres a timber under that hole preventing access to bolt it up
Could of at least cut the end of a bolt off and no more nails it in place to make it look like it was in *
*not that ive ever seen that done before of course
revs1972Free Memberthe “patching” is actually splices…the beam has to be cut into 3 to physically get it into the roof. The plates shown join the beam together so that it is 1 piece
revs1972Free MemberUKB is a new beam section that is generally a pain in the arse to get hold of (seeing as most steel comes from China these days)
At the end of the day its over engineered but at least the room looks nice and it isnt gonna fall down.Peace of mind = priceless
Why didnt they get the last bolt in ?revs1972Free Memberbeam split into 3….. presumably sat on padstones each end…trust me theres **** all unusual about that !!
4 hours work including painting tops !!
did you go directly to steel fabricator or did the builder add his usual 100% margin to the price ?revs1972Free MemberI am assuming that when you saying that it wasnt standard beams that the engineer probably called up a UKB ?. Usually the first thing you do as a fabrication company is get the engineer to change UKB’s to a standard UB or UC section.(try to suggest one that you have a nice big offcut of). Would be interested to find out what beam size is specced as that web splice plate just looks wrong !
As mentioned above, span/ loads etc will play a part in beam selection.
How many splice joints does it have ?revs1972Free Memberwatch the eco hotel blow up at then end…. I helped build that (well the mock up at the James Bond Studio at Pinewood)
Little bit of it im my mates house extension too… recycling at its bestrevs1972Free MemberI took a call at work once by an irate driver complaining about being cut up by one of our works vans. He demanded to speak to the managing director. He was not in so the bloke demanded his mobile number which I duly gave to him. He rang the number and spoke to the managing director in person.
Apparently he was spouting all sorts of crap to the MD about being verbally assaulted by the driver and that they had tried to run him off the road etc etc.
I would have paid money to have seen the blokes face when the driver of the van (our MD) waved to him and told him who he was.
(not condoning his crap driving though)revs1972Free Member2 different orders in the last 2 weeks……both arrived next day (although the despatch email came on the next day for both )
The only time an order has been later than next day was when I paid by paypalrevs1972Free MemberThere you go….bang on budget delivered to your door
Folds up to quite a small size, reclines , area underneath for shopping, and fair bit of kit with it. Barginrevs1972Free Membercompared to £12 million for a 4 day visit from the pope……i think they represent excellent value for money…..and far more exciting to watch
revs1972Free Memberglad i could help,
might even have the values at work if you need them for the future….will post on here if I do have them ok, although hopefully you will find some on here
cheers
revs1972Free MemberAs a structural steel detailer, I have always used a figure of 91.9 Kn for the single shear value of a M20 bolt. This is in a plate of 10mm, the load can go down if you use a thinner plate , but will never be more than 91.9 Kn This is from the BS5950 tables that we use in the real world.
As for your description of a " preloaded " bolt, can I assume that you mean a High Strength Friction Grip bolt (ususally grade 10.9 with load indicating washer and hardened round washer) H.S.F.G
If so then the following text applies :-The principle of HSFG bolted connections relies upon tensioning
each bolt in the connection to a specified minimum tension so that
the desired clamping force will be induced in the connection interface.
Shear loads are then transferred by frictional resistance at the
joint interface rather than by bearing on the bolt shanks and hole
faces. In this type of connection there will be no movement of the connected
materials when the connection is subjected to these loads.
Movement in many types of joints is highly undesirable, hence the
development of the friction grip connection. The bolted faces (the faying surfaces) are left unpainted to allow the maximum frictional resistance. Load undicating washers that have tabs on are used and the tabs crush when the required torque is applied, although you ca often catch steel erectors hammering these down prior to installtion to save themselves work (although totally f**king up the principal of how these connections work) – although you never heard that from me !!
revs1972Free MemberThanks for the reply,
yes, checked i2i distance / stroke etc and it is correct shock.
At the front of the shock where it bolts into the 2 "gussets" that are welded to the frame, these gussets actually hit the end of the shock (i.e the distance from the face of the "say 50mm dia black bit" to the actual eye is not enough to clear). If i were able to line up the eye to the frame eye then the frame eye would be digging into the shock.
Technical terms not to good there but I hope you get the jist of what im saying ?revs1972Free MemberSpice up your sex life by trying a bit of "rodeo sex". Take your missus from behind and, holding on tightly to her jugs, call her by the wrong name. See how long you can stay on for.
revs1972Free Member5 inch grinder with a 1mm slit disk !!
cuts straight and quickly with minimal clean up if you know what you are doingrevs1972Free MemberAfter wasting a large amount of money on various "cures", I tried one of these. Takes a while to get used to and gives you jawache for first night or so, but it has cured my very bad snoring problem
revs1972Free Memberhad an experience with our beardie. was getting him out of car and on lead when 2 dogs came bounding round the corner and ended up attacking him. After dragging them off him, and putting him back in car, the owner came round corner and demanded to know why I was manhandling her dogs. After a quick briefing , she started to blame us because we had our dog on a lead ???? and apparently this would of been a reason for her dog to attack. After pointing out to her this was stupid and that her dogs needed to be kept under better control, she told us that her dogs were perfectly under control. With that one of them ran off straight in to the path of a car …luckily the driver managed to brake hard and it just glanced off it. She then tried to blame us for that too. Stupid c**t (yes I did call her that)
Some people are just so unbelievably ignorantrevs1972Free Memberwow, that is an icredible amount of money per month. you would expect one to one hands on care at that price, but no doubt it is staffed by underpaid carers.
revs1972Free MemberAs usual , the do-gooders who stick up for these scumbags probably live in nice little bubbles where nothing bad ever happens to them or their families, or their friends or to anyone they know.
Well if you have kids, and you have any sympathy with that scumbag then you seriously need to read what they did to that poor kid. Im 38 years old, and a bit of a lad, but it bought tears to my eyes reading it.
Glad they didnt actually kill him, and I hope it hurts every day for the rest of his life !!!revs1972Free Memberhas anyone noticed that since the highways agency have been sticking one of their vehicles with its lights flashing behind anything that has broken down on the motorway, there has been a lot more slowing down to a stop further back because of rubber neckers near the front thinking there might be something more exiting to look at !!
took nearly 2 and a half hours to get from Exeter to Cribbs, and had 5 instances of thisrevs1972Free Memberdont get me started on mobile phones….. have had 2 incidents of **** on phones not even stopping at roundabouts this week…just glad i was on the ball and watching their approach !!
