I think that’s temperature related, the battery needs to be warm before it hits max speed. So if your driving wasn’t enough to warm it in cooler weather, it needs the charging current to warm it up.

I drove quicker to Gretna Tesla chargers and on arrival with a similar % remaining the charging speed was in the 40s from the start.

45 minutes later left the charger and drove the remaining 125 miles home with 165 in expected range.

Scraped in back home with less than 5%, showing 0 miles range on the dash and turtle mode.

I’ll stick to 65mph next time on the motorway. winky eye.

Return 320 mile journey from Fort William was around 4.5m/kWh.

Overall average for around 1600 miles was 4.9m/kWh .

Currently charging at Larkhall Tesla. Arrived at 15%, started slow, needed to get to 33% before the charging speed maxed out at 47kW.

A few Tesla’s have arrived, charged and left in the time I’ve been sat here, ? (crying eyes emoji).

How cold is floor in the room above the garage compared to other floors above heated rooms?

I guess you have sealed any gaps you can see?

Would it be easier to replace the underlay in the room above if you have a carpet with a thicker option? Or put a huge rug on the floor above if it is a hard floor?

Gravel bikes are great. Ride them leisurely and enjoy getting out on the bike without the need for technical or difficult trails. Rebuild your confidence.

As mentioned earlier by molgrips 3 of the Tesla chargers at Fort William don’t work with the Ioniq, Chargers 2a,b,c.

    Chargers 1abc work.

Just incase I’ve mixed the numbers up, the 3 on the left as you look at them don’t work but the 3 on the right do (nearest the CPS chargers).

Lots of other non Tesla cars had success with the ones on the left though.

I had a Merc and a BMW using 2 chargers but blocking 3 unless you had a charge port on the driver’s side.

I thought I had seen a video of Ukrainian drones armed with himars explosives a few months ago? If the Ukrainians are able to land the explosive part of a storm shadow by drone would that be as good as using a whole storm shadow? Or would the reduced impact speed be relevant to the size of the blast?

It is very easy to point and laugh at other people’s stupidity, right up until you get caught out yourself. Ask me how I know.

Exactly this. I parked up, looked at phone, saw message, knew I’d done some dodgy parking earlier in the day (broken machine), other half had just left car and headed to the bog, I thought I’d quickly sort the issue rather than dwell on the problem  being a decent (occasionally thick) person. Clever enough tho to call my bank and discuss the problem, changed the virtual card number and cancelled internet purchases with the card number.

I’ll nuke the card when I’m orbital and learn from the experience.

Plus I’ll read every topic on stw just to keep abreast of every situation known to man. Winky eye.

The Ioniq motor in my car is nearing 50000 miles and it is driving as if it was new. I’ve no idea what it was like when it was new but it is silent at 50000 miles and I don’t imagine that it was noisy when new.

Charged it twice today, covered 103 miles at 5.1m/kWh.

I have just received this text a few minutes ago :

    Dvsa notice for you:

You have an overdue parking penalty charge to deal with, please enter your license plate lookup in the link once you receive the information.

If you do not pay your fine on time,Your car may be banned from driving, you might have to pay more, or you could be taken to court.

    https://qrco.de/bfPb2b?aLIgz=UaEmVlO

Thank you again for your cooperation. Dvsa.

The sender’s name is Bharati Naik and the phone number is from India. I am worried that I might have to go to India for the court hearing, anyone know?

Dvsa sounds serious although I can’t work out what it stands for.

I got one of these yesterday.

Looked legit (but I was suspicious) I’ve never had a pcn notice before I filled my details in thinking I’d pay the £20 and get it over with as I had visited briefly a carpark which I couldn’t pay due to a broken machine.

Checking my banking app there were 2 attempts to authorise adding another apple pay device and Google pay device to my account.

I rung the back and they were helpful. I changed the virtual online card details and I have blocked the card for online purchases.

I will have to pick through any online accounts that the card is linked too and change the details.

The pleasant charging speed of the Ioniq is fine.

Did another 2 sessions today and the time spent charging was spent taking photos of sea mist, seals and phone calls.

I’ll be back on the Tesla chargers in a few days…

I’m currently driving around the nc500 in my Ioniq. Just over 1000 miles completed at 4.9m/kWh . I’ve been charging at the CPS chargers spending my 45 minute limit bringing the car back up to 80%+. Yes it’s slow but fine for touring speeds.

The measly 100kw motor could of easily powered me up bealach na ba at 60mph but I took my time and did 59mph (winky eye).

    Great car.

Had a chat with a mg4 owner who was traveling in the opposite direction. She was using the v2l for kettle boiling and occasionally sleeping in the car using the air conditioning over night. She said that pressing the central locking whilst inside the car kept the AC running overnight. She also mentioned one of her pals had an mg5 with a roof tent.

I wouldn’t mind the v2l capability and a roof rack but I don’t have it. I will be considering buying a 1kw battery capable of charging stuff and having that in my car for trips. It would replace my camping gas hob and provide 3 pin plug charging for other junk.

I have been charging slowly but successfully along the nc500 using CPS chargers and podpoint at Tesco.

Used the CPS RFID card to initiate all the charges. Successful on the 2nd attempt if not the first. I think the fast DC chargers prefer the car to be switched off and locked to start the charging?IMG_20240918_130606

4 stops in total to get to Inverness. 375miles, 84kw from Tesla chargers. Had a reasonable battery level at the start of charging sessions. Car performed well. Camping on a site with astroturf pitches. IMG_20240914_181955

Charging has sped up to 47kw/h. All is forgiven.

Cheap with the subscription. So that’s a bonus.

My Ioniq is charging at 31kw/h at a Tesla fast charger! Luckily we aren’t in a rush.

Took a while for the app to start up as well. I think that had more to do with my network producer than Tesla though.

I watched the final hour of the replay of the debate last night on the BBC parliament channel.

Posted my initial thoughts on the Government thread.

I’ve skim read bits of it, stopping to facepalm and inwardly cringe occasionally.

I had similar feelings. After a few minutes I was ready to switch channel but I persevered.

There seemed to be a ‘if it happened once in London, it happens everywhere and every cyclist is up to no good whilst driving’ approach?

Driving a bike was used a lot.

That said. Cyclists riding through red lights and fast on pavements with disregard to pedestrians is bad.

12°c in the kitchen this morning.

No negative Agile power either! So I’ll have to make do with a brew, hat and gilet!

Bedroom is around 17°c . Electric blanket connected to a smart plug will return later in the year.

I have 2 far infrared panels. 700w each. I reckon a 700w fan/convention heater would be better under a desk.

The panels do create heat and are silent in operation. I bought the WiFi connected option so I can control them remotely. Cost £90 each so they’ll never pay themselves off.

A cheap £10/15 convection heater with a 750w setting with a tapo smart plug would be my choice if I was buying at this moment in time.

Plus the Agile tariff from octopus.

I think I’ll sign up for a Tesla subscription for a month. I reckon I’ll be able to recoup my £9 subscription fee if I use 100kw from their chargers. I’ll to use nearer 200kw anyway.

A full month after I emailed chargeplecescotland about my non-functional account and their non-functional website, they eventually replied to me asking for full details of my account “due to GDPR rules”.

My CPS card turned up recently. I ordered one, the £12 payment didn’t seem to be taken from my bank account, I thought I’d made a mistake somewhere along the way but it turned up anyway. It arrived in a hand written envelope so it seems that CPS are doing part of the process manually.

The card will be used soon.

My other half has misplaced the octoverse card which was going to be another backup card. I thought I’d ordered one myself but it seems not to be the case. Unless one arrives in the post soon I’ll be reliant on the app assuming there’s a signal.

I have a chargepoint card as well which will be my 3rd choice of card on route.

Had another go at flying the stunt kite this evening. Wind was blowing from the west so the sun was on my back. I made sure the line lengths were equal and managed to launch the kite a few times. It remained airborne for at best 1 minute. I’m making progress so I’m happy.

My electric heating gets switched on when the octopus agile tariff goes negative. I’ll be switching the heaters on when the days are colder and the cost per KW is cheaper than gas by a few pence. Turning on the gas central heating costs a lot of money to get the water up to temperature so I’ll be aiming not to use it unless it’s really cold and the cost of electric is significantly higher than the standard variable rate.

Octopus Agile here. Cheap power tomorrow with expensive power at other times. 9.5hrs of slow 3 pin car charging at less than 3p/kWh, some negative. 90 miles of cheap motoring coming up.

The correct answer is Octopus energy, 3 pin charger and a Hyundai ioniq (not the 5)!

Only kidding, buy whatever suits your needs best.

My finger will be ok. No blood but it was close.

I will look into new lines and handles.

I tried flying with short strings and add the kite took off above my head the wind caught my woolly hat as I looked up blowing it over my eyes so I couldn’t see where it was going to crash! I’ll wear a better hat next time.

The last time it went airborne I was staring into the sun! Cue another crash!

    I’ll have another go tomorrow…

Pretty windy outside. So I headed out to the park with my stunt kite. Managed to get it airborne then quickly back on the ground after spiralling around!

Spent most of the time carefully untangling the lines.

I then had a bright idea to hold the kite with the strings in my hands and the kite took off with the string zipping through my fingers. I won’t be doing that again. No serious burn but a minor one.

I’m 3 pin charging my Ioniq at a leisurely rate of 1.5kwh. I don’t do many regular miles but can do 25 miles a day when I use the car for a commute. Takes around 5 hours to recoup the range. Easily done over night. Octopus Agile tariff so I try to avoid anything higher than 15 pence KW. A fast AC home charger would be nice but I’ll hold out for the time being as I can if needed use my partners charger.
