£27.50 per check up visit, NHS. 5 minute visit.

£47.50 for the hygienist 10/15 minutes.

Worth it as my teeth are happier when they are working rather than when they are broke.

Buy a £700 Merlin e bike. Bank the rest of the cash. On crap days get a taxi. The saved money can be donated to something more worthy than an expensive commuter bike.

I’m kicking myself today for answering a call from a mobile number that I didn’t recognise.

Make me a winner! Is the response you need to use it the call is around 4pm and you have entered a radio competition?

My lezyne 1200 light broke out of warranty. I took it apart to see if I could fix it and I couldn’t do it easily.

Most of my friends exposure lights have been fixed both in warranty and occasionally out of warranty for a price. They aren’t user serviceable and therefore require postage and extra hassle.

I did it in 6 days after cycling down to lands end via Aberystwyth. 10.3 days in total around 1500 miles. Back in the day when I could ride a bike and 2 weeks after completing 3500 miles cycling around France, Pyrenees and the Alps.

It wasn’t the first time I’d ridden to lands end or John o groat’s but never in one ride so I knew what I was getting road wise. I rode the major A roads and had a decent tailwind from Inverness to the top. Caught the train home from Wick. Looking back i should of cycled home from jog but I reckon it would have taken me a week with the change in the weather.

I camped, carried all my gear. Dumped the handle bar bag on the way up when I stopped at my house. The lighter bike made a difference. It was a solid performance from the Trek 1000 that I was riding.

If I did it again I’d aim for the minor roads/railways and canals and take a bit more time.

I recently built a shed out of wooden decking, decent thick stuff from Wickes.

The shed is narrow but the roof has a decent overhang so the sides hardly get wet. Floor is made from pallets that are off the ground on brick pavers. The walls are also off the ground and not fixed to the pallets so the pallets if needed can be lifted out.

I put a sliding door on it along the side which gives good access to both ends and does not slam shut when the wind blows. The sliding door is a good idea if space is limited.

Plenty of air blows through the shed as I left expansion gaps between the decking and there is also an unfilled area below the roof where a breeze can pass through.

Will it rot? Probably not for the next 20 years. Will it be repairable if it does rot near the base? Yes each deck board can be easily removed and replaced and the internal frame work could be swapped out with a bit more effort.

Would I sit inside it and contemplate my life choices? No, but at a push yes after I’d thrown the mower out of it.

    Very impressive.

Missed it live but I’ll remember that I was driving home from work on the m66 when it happened for the rest of my life. Winky eye emoji.

Hopefully the ship has an equally impressive landing.

I don’t think the symptoms are quite right, but the AC compressors on Corsas/208s are a known weak point.

I had read something about this a while back. Hoping I would be lucky and avoid the problem! I will report back with updates when I have more answers.

I reckon the battery refurbishment industry will be up and running by 2030. Repairs will hopefully be relatively cheap. I’d expect a higher energy density battery to be available as well, so an improved range.

It seems as if I can hear a switch when I call for heat from the heating controls then nowt happens. I don’t think it’s a blockage unless a big squirrel has lodged it self in the air intake?

The other half said that it just stopped working. She enjoyed pre heating and cooling the car and I wonder if the additional stress of this process speeds up the demise off the HVAC system?

I’ll take another look at it tomorrow and check the filters and other accessible stuff.

The Corsa e has developed a problem.

The HVAC has decided not to work. Displays and controls work but no heat or air is blown through the vents.

I have read a good look at the fuses and they are all ok. The HVAC system seems to try to work but fails to push the air. I’ll guess something but has gone wrong at the fan?. No leaks or anything untoward is wrong in the engine bay. Radiator fan spins when required.

I haven’t plugged in an obd2 reader yet. I’ll try that tomorrow.

Me thinks all the cash saved from owning a nice EV is going to be absorbed by the repairs dept?!

Rest of the car is working.

The Ioniq is fine, fingers crossed, no issues with 3 times the mileage of the Corsa e.

Nick Saunders rode one around the world recently. If a Yamaha ebike motor and battery can last 18000 miles this bike would be the only bike I’d need for the rest of my biking life.

I went for a walk yesterday with the possibility of a pint at the end.

The potential cost of the pint put me off calling in at the pub.

I’ll be far from not boozing this October but I might save a few quid by cutting back on the pub visits.

Timely thread as I’ve just binned a hp 3500? Psc. Scanner worked ok, printer ink was used rarely so it often dried up. The worst part of the HP setup was a bit of software which when installed on to the PC always created a problem with the windows updates.

I have a canon PSC with similar ink issues so I’m inclined to try a brother laser printer or one of their led problematic ink jet printers next. I can probably get away with mono printing for 99.9% of the stuff I would like to print.

I can colour in with crayons any other stuff. Winky eye emoji.

I find that my electronic scales are inaccurate on first use. They are stored in an upright position, so the first time I step on the scales they read different than the 2nd and 3rd goes which give the same results.

I recently bought a dji neo fly more kit. I’m getting better at flying it around. Controller is good. Not yet used it with the bike or out walking. I like the go straight up, rotate 360°, come back down videos. They give a different perspective on an area and if anything goes wrong it’ll just land on me rather than far away.

I doubt I’ll buy anything bigger or a drone with greater capabilities as it isn’t something I’ll use regularly.

If it is too windy to fly the neo I’ll get my kite out!

Are they as hated as eBikes?

Probably, but not in this household!

For every 37.5°c I put in, the E-blanket adds 30/60/90W of additional power depending on which setting I select.

Electric heating on later this evening for an hour whilst the price is less than 2p/kWh. I could run it for a few more hours at a sub 3p/kWh but I’ll save my pennies for later on in the year.

Wood burner has also been lit this evening.

Yep I’ve had access to a Corsa e for the last 16 months. The elite nav version with the swish matrix lights.

It is a nice little car but not too small. My other half drives it daily and doesn’t have any issues with it. She likes the heated seat, steering wheel and pre heating/cooling the car prior to setting off for work or leaving work when it’s cold or too warm.

I did 45 miles in the Corsa e a few days ago and coming from driving 1600 miles in the Ioniq it does feel a little dated. The Ioniq has better features and build quality. The Corsa however for shorter journeys is good. It can do the longer journeys and it does charge faster than the Ioniq so I wouldn’t discount the Corsa for a longer journey. I did around 350 miles in a day twice in the Corsa with no issues.

The Corsa is quick off the mark. It seems to be a bit skippy when cornering and there is a bumpy surface. Maybe the 17″ wheels don’t help?

I need to take a look at the drainage around the boot area and find out why the half wheel well collects a little water. Other than that not had any issues with the car.

Would I buy another? Yes. But I hopefully won’t have to replace it for several more years.

How many years of security updates have Xiaomi committed to though?

4 major updates and 5 years for security.

Old mi10t lite last security update was early 2023 and it wasn’t updated beyond Android 12 and miui 14. So this new phone should do nearly 4 years with updates and at least 1 yr without. I hope?

Xiaomi 14t is £549 and you can get a redmi tablet for free at the moment.

I’ve splashed out on a 14t pro which gave me a mi pad 6 as a sweetener. Phone has decent cameras and 512gb phone storage.

I’ve never spent more than £250 on a phone in the past and my 4 year old mi10t lite was working fine but struggling with storage.

I’m hoping this purchase will last me until the end the decade?

My insurance went up by £180 from insuring a 16 year old car to a newer more expensive 4 year old car.

Newer cars don’t crash as often as they are full of prevention systems, radars and cameras. I think insurance companies are adjusting their premiums in favour of cars with the prevention tech rather than the repair costs? I will supply no evidence to back up my statement tho!

It was raining. Not particularly heavy though.

I was making progress in the motorway, near 70mph gps speed for most of the time.

The last 10 miles are hilly at the point of leaving the motorway I had 10 miles leeway over the distance I needed to travel.

The car flagged up that I was down to 10% remaining at 20 miles to go. I was controlling the regen with the paddles so no-one going up hill and a little going down as I reckoned it’d be better rolling than slowing down.

Predicted range dropped from around 6 miles to 0 miles without a countdown. I was on the last downhill leg with some minor ups so not too concerned but I feared that if I stopped it would decide not to start again!

Plugged in and there was around 5% left so maybe a few more miles before stopping completely.

I could have just topped up the battery by a few kW when leaving the motorway as there are plenty of chargers in the area. Next time I’ll do that rather than chancing it.
