WHY YOU MUST OWN A FULLY RIGID FIXIE

1 simple reason – it will not over flatter you and WILL make you a better rider.

“w@nk fackin tastic” – accidently left this as a comment in some source code I submitted and almost got a module failed when I was at uni :?

“you can take your <blank> and shove it up your boll0cks, mate” – I find the glimmer of confusion on their face as they try to parse ‘up your bollocks’ most amusing

Wind the u-turn down to the shortest setting then tighten it.

Penhydd is a nice trail, personally didn’t find White’s Level any more technical (aside from the black run which is good fun!). I found The Wall a bit boring, the fireroad at the start seemed to go on forever.

Well quite, but all the packaging says ‘excellent lubrication properties’ on it. What choice do we have?

I have heard of people using motor oil mixed with suspension oil for their semi-bath forks. Wether it’s actually any better I don’t know…

it’s either had a hard time or been clocked (or possibly french)!

lol, no not french. It’s a fiesta. Had an easy life as my mother was the owner from new. Probably find out now that she used to rag it round mothercare carpark doing handbrake turns!

Think the suspension bushings were a specific problem with this model of Fiesta which caused the steering to wander (but again, I felt like I was being taken for a ride by Dovercourt ford when they did this…) It improved things slightly but it wasn’t until I got the tracking done by another garage that the problem was eventually sorted. :(

Only thing I can think of that might have damaged something would be that I used to live on a steep narrow road in Bristol and often people would hare down the road with no chance of stopping and I had to bump up onto the kerb to avoid having a head-on… But like I said this problem seems to have come on recently.

Will check the bolts asap. Ta!

    Cheers guys.

Had suspension bushings replaced less than a year ago on the front. Also had new front tyres and tracking sorted about a month ago.

It’s really hard to tell but I think it might be one of the back wheels rather than the front. Kind of feels as if somebody was standing behind you, moving your shoulders back and forth!

Think I’m going to have to bite the bullet and take it to a garage, but I always feel like they’re taking the widdle.

I will jack it up and try the things you’ve all suggested first though.

PS, it’s done about 46,000m is that a reasonable age for a wheel bearing? Can’t find anything in the service history about them being replaced before.

Is RSP oil better than bog standard Shell motorbike oil?

Dunno, I meant RSP grease which was recommended by tftuned to me.

    retro83

I used to put RSP in my rockshox but I don’t bother anymore since it seems to dissolve in the oil as you say.

Would grease really get rid of stiction better than suspension oil though?

Maybe they’ve reduced the speed to “improve the stability of the line” like sky did with mine, (6 mb down to 3)

When you get dragged to a club by your mates (you’d rather be at home with a whisky, reading the paper) and when you get inside (having not being asked for ID unlike everyone else in the queue), it appears that the clientelle are all children.

(then you realise you’re in ‘Dukes Genesis’ and they are in fact all children)

Prior to undoing any locking nuts, take the pads out and pump the pistons together.

If I did that to mine, the pistons would fall out, or do you mean to stick something (yellow shimano block thingy) inbetween first?

run task manager, go to processes tab, click CPU and see which processes are using CPU time.

You machine should fly running Vista, no need to disable aero, increase VM etc. What I would suggest is that often Defender slows systems to a crawl whilst it is doing its scans. Temporarily disable it and see if the situation improves.

Also with 150gb free, disk fragmentation is unlikely to be a problem.

gotta go with school run mothers/fathers. Darling cherub cannot be allowed to walk more than 10 yards to the school gate so obviously just plonk your car whereever is closest to the school without indicating or caring that you’re blocking a junction or somebodies driveway ARGHGH then after they’ve got out just pull out into the traffic without bothing to look. I’ve been using a Logitech 470 (in white obviously! ;) ) on my Mac day in day out for a year with no problems.

Batt life is decent and it takes AAs so if it runs out when you’re out on site you can pop down to the corner shop and grab some more. Lag is better than most bluetooth mice but still present. You can scroll sideways in documents sortof like the mightymouse by rocking the wheel to the side.

No not common IME, I’ve had a couple of pairs of Revs (08 and 09), a pair of Pikes and friends have Rebas, Recons, Pikes and older Revs etc after a month of use they’ve all been virtually stiction free (ie. undetectable in use).

The Pikes took longer to break in, but I assume this is because of the extra oil seal rather than the bushings being tight.

Kaiser, did you check the lube in the semibath + air chambers as I suggested and still have the issue?

    retro83

because they generate more heat than organics

empty neg, inflate pos, empty neg again, empty pos again, empty neg. Sometimes the pistons end up in the wrong position, this seems to reset them.

Open forks up, make sure there is enough (15ml) semi-bath lube and that the foams are saturated. You might also want to check the lube in the air chambers (think this is 2ml in pos+neg but double check in the service manual)

Inflate pos until you get roughly the right spring rate, then set neg to be pos + 5. Don’t worry about the rockshox figures for PSI. Don’t set neg before setting the pos.
