Hmm that’s interesting, had been looking at the tarpstar as quite fancy the single pole type, rather than my zephros 1 compact.

How does it need 16 pegs?

Hubba is pitch inner first isn’t it, that would be a big no for me.

Haha not a stealth ad honest! If it was I’m in the Scottish Borders 😉

J fab have actually considered the same, just pop it in the loft which would help make room in the shed. I’d imagine my wife would complain that was silly though.

I’ve got a marantz cd63se which I’ve been pleased with, can usually pick them up for reasonable money (the ki versions go for more)

Pretty sure I have a very lightly used mavic ex 729 in the loft if that is any use.

Quite alright with either mate or pal tbh unless it’s from a delivery driver then I think it’s rather familiar.

Where i grew up 70s and 80s ‘mush’ was quite normal , I only really use that to my brother now though

I tried Jones for a while, comfy for just riding about but I just didn’t click with them for riding down anything fast. I’d certainly try some geoffs if you are curious. I’d have them again on a bike just for bikepacking…though actually i would prefer flared drops for that.

Have Groovy cycle works luv handles now which are the Goldilocks Flat bars for me.

Great thanks, that’s a bit of a turn off, have quite a dislike of shimano hubs !

Vandal looks tempting, wonder what the rear tyre clearance is with a srtaight seat tube?

Anniversary ones were 2007, signed by Brant on the downtube unless they were black as his white pen didn’t work or something (mine was black). Cracked chainstay after 5 years, replaced with design with more chainring clearance and powder coated and I am still riding it as a rigid 26/27.5 er

Iron and a a flat bottom? They asked what wok not which expensive pan.

Haha fair point however I did not get on with a cheap carbon steel one on a ceramic hob and have found this better. It’s thin spun iron not a great thick pan.

Had one of these for a few months which I am really liking, made in Britain too, not cheap

    That’s lovely!

Was toying with picking up an old FM tuner for my ‘hifi’ too. How long will FM still be around for though? Is it not planned for demise at some point?

Just to confuse matters locals refer to Ettrickbridge as Brigend ;)

That house is probably about 20miles from hawick but easily 45 minutes drive. That’s sort of money can put you closer to bowhill and I’m sure they rent paddocks

When we asked Bowhill was £60 per week per horse which was out of our reach plus livery is not for everyone.

Echo what is said above that house is way out, I’d live there* as I don’t have kids but the nearest school for them at 6 is probably Ettrickbridge.

*it’s nearly 4 time the cost of my house though!

    My wife has horses…

Be warned unless you find a property with land then renting a field for grazing can be really hard. Much of the valleys is owned by Buccleugh estate who were no help.

Foolishly we assumed being surrounded by countryside this would not be an issue however we got to the point where my wife was making plans to get rid of the horses before we finally found something, and that was only because someone elses horse died.

I’m in Ettrickbridge getting 74 down 17 up just now. Quite a few guys work from home full time in the village. Good community feel in the valleys …. I’d not want to live in actual Selkirk though. Broadband outside the village may not be as good though!

Awesome gravel riding about also if that is your thing.

Polly’s yoga classes in Selkirk are good or there is one in Ettrickbridge… well there was before March

I have the 2007 2.5 turbo model, it’s great to drive with 226bhp and suprisingly good at driving up and down muddy rutted tracks when needed with good tyres on. It’s the country gent’s Imprezza turbo.

I love it and try not to think about running costs…luckily I haven’t actually driven to work since March ;)

I stay in a really tiny village yet there are 4 Foresters and an Outback which is weird.

VED on mine is getting on for £550!

6 weeks rest meant the land would be handed back in good condition, the grass was just starting to recover so at the end of the let he couldn’t say we had ruined the grass.

I don’t want a legal solution ffs, I just wondered where I stood. In my head he breached the let so I don’t see why I should pay the final months rent.

The guy is a dick and likely to be a dick if i say anything to him. I’m perfectly capable of keeping cool. Confront maybe wasn’t the best choice of words. We’ve already had 10 months of him being awkward.

Maybe I should tell him rather than just not pay.

Not what you asked really but I have a sunrace 11-40 9 speed on my cx with a short cage road mech and RoadLink, nw front and it works faultlessly. Never dropped chain

Going 1*9 on my mtb and going to use an 11-46 9 speed and a sunrace mech extension (road link copy). It’s had an 11-36 on back but it’s not enough for me

I have a feeling I bought that Sovereign frame off you in about 2011/12? If you lived in Peebles then.

I bloody hated it, rode it for 12 miles total! The king headset is still in service on my 853 Inbred

I’ve done 4-5 days out of a Montane Yupik 50 which ticks most of those boxes and is reasonably light but still comfy. Bit bigger than you wanted.

Very friendly low key charity sportive in my village. It’s really not very sportive and people ride all sorts along with the roadies. Village baking at the food stops with soup and bbq on the village sports field after. The best part of the Borders ;)

Any more news on ” Nitto Bar Project – Big Selection of bent and bull moose bars made by the worlds best tube benders and bar welders . ” because (whispers) I didn’t really like Jones bars…though for £25 I am tempted to buy a pair of these to work out what I didn’t like.

I had juin techs for about 2 weeks before I punted them back under warranty for a refund. Not pulling evenly due to sticky pistons, they questioned if I had maintained them, they were 2 weeks old!

Spyres on the other hand no bother with good cables, pads and setup.

My wife has 2 ponies, she rents a 2 acre field for £60 a month and the odd bag of food…hay is the biggest expense in the winter about £3.50 a day but that’s seasonal…and those costs are for 2 ponies. Maybe look at not keeping it on livery?

Still I started to add up once what they cost a year then thought better of it!

Atleast discuss calmly with your wife how you feel before you all explode. There will be another side to this story. You might change your mind, they might compromise.
