do you catch your knees on that yeti’s cable stops?

Never had an issue, no. Not one single time. The profile of the top tube is such that the cable stops and cables sit inside a concave profile. It’s no wider than a “standard” tube all told.

    never thought about it actually….

I had a Curtis SuperX about 6 years ago when the hardcore hardtail was just coming into fruition. Had 130mm Z1 MCR’s, 9 speed and could go anywhere!

One of my life’s only regrets was selling that beasty and I’d buy it back tomorrow if I could.

Like that Yeti. What’s with the top tube shape? Functional or aesthetic?

Ta, It’s to allow more comfortable shouldering apparently. It’s of great help at the 3 styles and kissing gates I encounter on my way to work!

That’s mine. Only changes are the addition of some mud. Only way I’d ever replace it is if they did a version with a disk mount, other than that, I love it.

You can up-spec calipers but not levers, at least you certainly could with “previous” versions. but I’m not sure you can run a servo wave lever with a caliper that’s not from a servo-wave brake or vice-versa.

I’m not actually sure if any of that helps.

The Brake will likely be a Tektro Mini-V, this will work better with the lever and is a good brake to boot.

Had Shimano for years. My current XT M770 brakes haven’t been touched ever, other than pads. Even if they do need work, spares are easy to come by and they’re really simple to work on.

Shimano hubs are cup and cone so you have one concave race as an integral part of the hub shell and a seperate one externally between which loose ball bearings sit so unfortunately it’s not possible as the cones that thread onto a QR axle don’t align and allow you to preload the bearings.

Unlike most Sealed bearing hubs, Shimano hubs use different shells for QR and 15/20mm hubs as opposed to one standard hub shell and bearing size with differing end caps.

Nor can you buy the M775 QR hub seperately (from the wheelset certainly) plus the flanges are different sizes on the QR and 15mm hubs so you would require new spokes (not cheap as they’re specific) and being UST rims they’re a more time consuming build. My advice would be to sell your existing wheel and buy a QR variant. probably won’t be a massive price differential between the two (in terms of what you could expect your 15mm wheel to yield and what you could pick up a new QR one for)

take the wheel out of the stand, lay it on the floor and apply pressure either side of the rim, rotate a quarter turn, do it again and again until it’s stressed. Flip it over and do the same. Pop it back in the truing stand and tweak. Rinse and repeat.

Also, once it’s getting really close, pop some tyres on and go for a spin. With the rigidity of modern rims, it’s almost impossible to stress them without riding.

This should help, unless I’ve misunderstood what you’re asking.

no, don’t believe they can as the internal cones are different on the 15mm hub.

should work, but obviously the cable stops on the frame could limit the feasability. A shield for the inner such as those offered by SRAM or Jagwire would help,

or alternatively, a full set of Gore Ride-on cables would do the job nicely

    Endura Helium?

I have a Mountain Equipment Gore-Tex PacLite which packs down smaller than the helium and has a hood (which packs away) and I think I picked it up for about 70 quid in a Cotswold sale. More breathable than any other shell I’ve had.

I actually have genuinely nice people that I pass daily, granted these are all on canal towpaths or bridleway.

Why do drivers in sh1t cars always come out with the “get a car!” line, to which of course, the response is “get a better car”.

Is a rash vest a necessity too, hadnt thought about that

Yes. They’re cheap as chips and I wouldn’t wear a wetsuit without one. I used a cheapo pair of lycra shorts bought from Decathlon too as my tree trunks used to cause me terrible chaffing :s

    Lovely!

Been so tempted by one for the Mojo, but I would love to try one out to try and justify the expense, as I’m sure with a Ti spring it will offer greater performance to a re-valved RP23, but is it £600 difference?

I tend to wear Daniel Hechter shirts bought from John Lewis unless I require a double-cuff or dress shirt. Picked up loads for less than 20 quid as they often have promos running at the moment. Cut is great and fit I’ve found spot on for most occasions (I have one that’s a bit shorter than the others, despite them all being 15 1/2″) but they last too.

Are you going to be wanting to use it all year round? I’ve got a winter suit – older Rip-Curl Titanium which I used for spring time when I lived and surfed in Jersey, this has removable sleeves which was nice and was proper warm. I’d recommend getting something of decent quality as you’ll find that it might wear quicker in odd places if using it for sailing. I’ve got a summer ‘shorty’ which doesn’t get used much as I tend to find myself warm enough in summer for rash-vest and shorts. Pretty much all the surfing I’ve done is in CI and France (Atlantic) and it’s never usually particularly warm.

Can’t open the windows in the office as if I do a plague of wasps will attack my face from the barn opposite.

28 degrees in here at the moment, 80% humidity, Air-conditioning engineer on the way!

Still never mind, have to have a dip in the pool when I get home.

My vote goes to merc drivers, usually the dimentia setting in C + E class drivers causes them to forget to indicate, likewise the constant re-plastering of lipstick and chatting to gal pals of CLK and SLK drivers distracts them far too easily.

resisted, take your car and cane the absolute pants off it, really rag it. Should help shift the engine scoot etc, gets the cat nice and hot too.
*I accept no liability if ANYTHING bad happens as a direct result of the above*

It doesn’t really do much caning tbh, it’s only a 1.6 and it weighs about 4 billion tonnes, and it looks like a canal barge. Just trying to figure out why the **** we bought it actually!

similar question; is it the same situation with i engines too? I have a 116i and recently the emissions light came on and even after service/MOT it’s still there. I happen to drink with the service manager for a large BM dealership and he says “it’ll be crappy supermarket fuels you put in it you pikey bastard” (or words to that effect). Basically was told to ignore it as it is there to indicate if you were likely to fail a continental emmissions check.

but I still feel I ought to be worried. should I?

Claimed on a bike, fell into all their criteria in terms of being locked with suitable lock etc (was a 2010 Cannondale Capo), was very swift and easy. Had to deal with a loss adjuster who tried to fob me off (but they all do), gave him a bit of spiel, told him I had a good relationship with my LBS and I was within my rights to get them to replace my bike, blah, blah. Paid up nice and quick (within 10 days of reporting the crime).

I own an Apple TV, and I love it. At the moment we’re living in a 2 bed house and the majority of our watching of stuff and listening to music happens in the living room and a bit in the master bedroom.

Our current set up is something along the lines of.

    Living Room:
    47″ TV
    Sky+ HD
    Blue-Ray
    Sound system
    Apple TV

    Bedroom:
Older PC connected to 32″ TV and splitter from Sky Box in Living Room
    PS3

    Spare Room:
    Mac.

Now, with home sharing, both the itunes librarys on Mac and PC can be synched, so music and film stored on the Mac can be sent to either Bedroom or Living Room (through Apple TV) which is brilliant, and as both itunes librarys can be run individually, it means that 2 people can watch /listen to different things from the same library (I’m getting to the stage where I want /am making digital copies of everything).

Obviously with airplay, you can send photos and film directly from the ipad (Mrs got me one for christmas) or Iphone (3GS and 4).

iplayer is the only issue, however, I have heard rumours that the next revision of iplayer for ipad will have an airplay feature. Either that or be able to project to your HD tv through the HDMI aux plugin device on ipad.

I would definitely recommend an Apple TV, as it will over time allow pretty much anything, it will only be a matter of time before iplayer and 4od etc is compatible on it, much like PS3.

    Hope that makes sense.

Except Hoovering – that’s gadget related and therefore a man’s job.
