Ive literally just sold the perfect car for you (in my eyes anyway :) )
VW Passat Estate 2.0 TDI bluemotion. Compared to my previous Octavia’s the fit and finish is slightly better but feels more refined.
rentonFree MemberUnderstand what you are saying but our garage is enbloc at the bottom of our garden behind a garden fence. The were able to break into and cut though all of the locks and chains I had fitted without us hearing a sound.
This would be attached to the rear wall of our house underneath the kitchen window and we would also put up a security light.
rentonFree Member@daveyboywonder they have traveled about 35 miles to come and get it.
rentonFree MemberLocal police were doing a patrol and noticed a car coming out of the garages with its lights off and bumping up the kerb. Didnt give chase but went and checked the garages and found my padlocks smashed off but door was fine and its reinforced from inside. So they come round the front of the house down the alley and say the door from our garden wide open and then woke us up.
15rentonFree MemberMorning all
Sorry for the delay in answering but as Z1ppy says Ive been up all night giving police statements and in Birminghan recovering the bike.
This story starts back in October last year when my garage was broken into and both mine and my lads bikes were taken. Since then I have tried to make the garage as secure as possible by blocking up the main dorr so it cant be used at all (Still fitted with two padlocks on the outside) and also fitted two insurance approved ground anchors and I was using an insurance approved kryptonite d lock and an oxford motorbike chain.
Lats night it looks like they attempted to gain access through the main door as both locks are smashed again but once they realised they couldn’t get in they have come over our back fence and smashed through the door from our garden. This door is an old front door with 5 lever mortice etc.
They must have shut the door behind them to work on the bike because no one, including our dog heard a thing and it was only when the dog barked the wife got up to look ut the window and she saw two police officers on the drive.
She then went down and opened the door and they told her our garage had been broken into again.
Following lasts years theft and everyone saying the thieves will be back again I fitted air tags to the bike and they have proved to be a godsend on this occasion. We were able to watch the bike move from ours all the way into Birmingham (Castle Vale) and the police were in talks with the other force to provide them updates.
Once I had given statements to our local police me and my lad jumped in the car and went up to the area at about 4 this morning.
It was still showing at the address as previously but hadn’t updated for a few hours so we had a walk about to see if I could pick it up. No joy.
At half 6 this morning I knocked on the door of the house and asked for my bike back. The lady who answered made out like she didn’t have a clue (probably didn’t) and said her lads were good lads and wouldn’t steal anything. To her credit she showed us the outhouse and shed and the bike wasn’t there. So my lad and I said we will wait for the police to come and do a full search and went and sat in the car.
I phoned the local police and let them know I was in the area and what had gone on and they marked it down as urgent but didnt send anyone out.
After a while I decided to drive off around the local area and sure enough as soon as I did the airtag popped up and had moved location. So we went to that location which was a block of garages behind some houses and got out for a walk and used the find my section with the air tags.
That pointed us to one of the garages which when we tried it it was open and unlocked and sure enough there is my bike. It obvious that someone in the house we knocked on has got spooked and moved the bike as its literally on the next road over from the house through an alley.
Its battered up a bit on the top tube where they have used something to cut the d lock but the rest is in one piece.
Im in a bit of shock to be honest. Not sure what to do for the best now. Tried decent security and insurance approved gear but they still managed to get it. We have no room in the house to store it either.
I fear they will be back again.
Im just glad I got it back.
rentonFree MemberPhoned them and they have it recorded and someone will contact me apparently.
rentonFree MemberI forgot to add.
If I run a speed test it says I am getting 56mbps but I can be sat in the room that has the router and try and load something on my phone but it wont load??
I have my TV hardwired to the router and sometimes this is hit and miss too?
rentonFree MemberCheers all.
The one of the company car list is the PS2 LRSM with pilot/plus packs. Apparently has a claimed range of 406 miles although realistically I know this will be around 320-350 in real life.
rentonFree MemberBrilliant.
Cheers all.
@mrchrispy. I can have a new model single motor long range. Will be interesting to hear what range you are getting. My other options are:
Audi Q4 45 sport
VW ID7
Mustang Mach E
Merc Eqa Eqb
rentonFree Member@Big-Bud mine were from bike wheels direct and were in sealed hope boxes.
Green pads were fitted and then there was one other set of pads in each box. No purple ones though.
rentonFree Memberbought some last month and they came with 3 set of pads. A mate bought some in May from the same place (Bike Wheels Direct) and he only got two. Both in black and gold so who knows why.
Thats where i bought mine from.
rentonFree MemberI recently bought some T4V4 and couldnt be happier. Running the hope 2.3mm single piece rotors and have no issues.
Mine only come with two sets of pads though, a green race set and one of the other compounds. Dont think they come with 3 sets any more.
I did have to bleed them after fitting them to the bike and trimming hoses. made a really big difference to be honest.
I run 220mm discs front and rear on a Levo ebike and feel like I have enough power with great modulation.
rentonFree MemberI have to agree with Mboy about Bewdley.
Wyre forest on your doorstep and Bewdley itself isn’t too bad at all.
That being said Z1ppy who has commented above lives in Kinver and Im always amazed at how many MTB routes he shows me when we ride that way. So much stuff on the doorstep.
rentonFree MemberCant see why this wouldn’t work.
A little oil in the lowers before bolting up just in case you lose any and it should be reet.
rentonFree MemberThis is interesting about the bisoprolol as I’m on 5mg a day.
I just have no energy to do anything.
I can manage a 20 ish miles ebike ride on a Saturday and then feel like a zombie the day after.
lack of motivation to even walk the dog.
rentonFree MemberI don’t have AF but do have a CRT-P pacemaker and feel exactly like you do on the bike.
Can be flowing along just fine with no issues but as soon as I need to exert myself I feel like I have no legs. I.e feel hollow and full of lactic acid.Horrible feeling as I feel like I’m going backwards in fitness and always feel like I’m holding people up on a group ride.
rentonFree MemberThanks for the video Bikerevive. I had seen that but then on a different forum (cant remember which) someone mentioned they had done that process on their T4 and still had issues when the bike was lay on its side for a bit?
Ive bought the bleed kit from epic bleed solutions with the cup that screws onto the lever and was going to try a conventional bleed like you would on a car brake?
rentonFree MemberThose pics look interesting to say the least !!
tue timing isn’t great. I missed the summer of 2022 due to my open heart surgery recovery and so another summer off the bike isn’t going to be ideal however as you say you need to take surgery when you can get it now.
it’s been relatively pain free for a couple of months but I’ve been severely limiting the amount of walking I’ve been doing which isn’t ideal as the weight is creeping up again.
rentonFree MemberThanks Poopscoop I’m in two minds about it to be honest as recovery is going to see me off the bike for a few months again and it will be the best part of the summer I will be missing !
rentonFree MemberIm running a two ride old Maxxis Assegai 29 x 2.6 Maxx terra 3c exo thing. Run it fairly hard as Im heavy and tend to hate the feeling of tyres rolling around on the rim.
rentonFree MemberNot sure what bike you are fitting them to but Ive heard mixed reports about the Hayes fitting some frames due to the diameter of the hose being slightly wider than others.
Another left field recommendation from me would be the TRP DHR Evo. I had a set on my levo and Im a big lad and was seriously impressed with them. Lots of modulation and some serious stopping power.
I know you said about not wanting to try the newer versions of Hopes but Ive switched to some Tech 4 V4 and to be honest they are bloody awesome and even more powerful than the TRP (Same disc size)
rentonFree MemberThanks for the replies.
sag is spot on for everywhere else i rode like Cannock, fod and the wyre Forest.
It’s probably just because it’s a different surface and like you say quite fast rolling.
my bikes creaking more than my knees today !!
rentonFree MemberThanks for the replies.
I’ve got this one set up the same as the previous 3 : Standard headset cup and high at the back.
I dropped 5 psi out of the rear shock before Saturdays ride and it’s made a subtle difference but still not feeling 100%.
The only other difference is that I am running Hope pedals on this one whereas the others were fitted with crank brothers mallets.
rentonFree MemberYep its a weird one.
Same rise bars
Same rise stem
Same fork
Same saddle and post
The only thing I can think is maybe too much air in the shock?
rentonFree MemberNice motor OP.
Ive had a couple of Octavia VRS now: A brand new 2016 plate estate 220bhp petrol and also a 2018 68 plate hatch 245bhp.
Both were fantastic cars and I’d have another in a heart beat.
Currently driving a 2015 Passat B8 and whilst its a nice car its not as sporty as the VRS.
I dont think the rear windows on the one you are looking at have been tinted even more, just think its a trick of the light.
I’d be snapping that up.
rentonFree MemberI think the only difference was the damper that was fitted.
Most people change this and then change the stickers
rentonFree MemberDon’t get me wrong I liked the mallets but must have rebuilt them at least 3 or 4 times over the space of two years. The always felt loose and wobbly if that makes sense.
rentonFree MemberI used a product called smart seal on my block pave drive and it’s kept it looking really good for a few years now but really it does need doing again
I made the mistake of sanding and then applying the sealant with a roller that dragged some of the sand out of the joints and it then lay sealed on top of the blocks
Next time I do it I’m going to sand first but spray the sealant instead of roller.
rentonFree MemberUnfortunately this isnt down to the screen but rather the 5f unit in the glovebox. Hundreds of cars across the vag group have the issue.
Sometimes the hard rest does the trick but most of the time the issue comes back.
Weve had it in my wifes ibiza, one of my octavias and my inlaws old passat.
1rentonFree MemberHad a lovely Mk2 GTI 16v that I absolutely thrashed to bits and part exchanged with 196k miles on the clock.
Also had a Mk4 2.3 v5 170 which was nice too.
Solid motors and just got the job done!
rentonFree MemberDoesn’t have to be an estate but something big enough to get my bike in !
I wouldn’t rule out an SUV
Haha and yes my very well kept Octavia VRS got twatted by my neighbours bin !
5rentonFree MemberHi all,
Car collected last night. Dealer asked for bank details this morning and money already back in my account.
Someone has a really good memory about my last Mazda 6!!! it was metallic blue and the paint was pealing off the front.
Ive heard to many horror stories about the current crop of Mazda 6 diesel? Are they that bad?
I have a budget of £10750. I need something mondeo size. I need diesel as I travel lots for work. Ideally Euro 6 (Although would consider a euro 5) 2016 or newer and under 100k miles:
Options are:
Passat Estate
Mondeo
Insignia
Octavia
Audi A4
BMW 3 series
Jag XF
Is there anything else I should look at?
rentonFree MemberI would b ut the more Ive looked over it the more chips and imperfections I have found, its almost like they cover the car in something to hide all the imperfections for sale.
rentonFree MemberIve been mulling this over all day and have decided to reject the car on the basis that it isnt fit for purpose or of satifcatory quality.
Ive sent an email across to the supplying dealers salesman and tried to call to speak with him as a follow up but even though he was answering emails and calls this morning he has now gone radio silent.
The only issue I have is that they are coming to collect the car around 6pm today and are dropping off a car for me to use whilst this broken one is repaired. Can I just reject that one if I don’t hear from the garage in time?
I just don’t want the hassle of it all. Being stuck on the side of the mway for 3 and a half hours was crap and Ive completely lost faith in the car now.
rentonFree MemberIf they have agreed to sort it can I still ask for my money back as I have lost faith in the car?
rentonFree MemberCurrently stood on the side of the M5 waiting for recovery as the clutch has completely failed.
To their credit the supplying dealer is collecting the car tomorrow and dropping off another car for me to use whilst they repair this one.
part of me want to tell them to just give my money back. The other half likes the car if the issues get sorted.
rentonFree MemberDidnt plug it in unfortunately but from what I can gather is that if you turn off the car and then turn it back on it will clear any stored “soft codes”. On the dash it just comes up “see Manual”
The clunk can be felt through the clutch pedal as it hits the floor and then you feel it in the seat and steering wheel if that makes sense.
