2×9 – 36/22 with 11-32. I imagine changing to a 1×10 will only yield a minimal weight saving which won’t make climbing as easy as a 22t, nor as fast on the flat as a 36t.

Torsional stiffness due to stem length or reduced bar twist due to the bar clamping interface being better?

Ah, the old fast rolling yet grippy enigma.

    Low friction yet excellent traction.

How does the tyre know when to be one or the other?

I wasn’t aware you could do that, useful to know.

I was thinking more about post ride car parks when I bought one.

Get a second quote because the impact described could be enough to have written the whole thing off.

Cost of the plates, cutlery, chairs, tables, heating, cleaning, dish washing, rent and maintenance of a premises much larger than a chippy for people to sit in.

So when you say all, what you really mean is significantly less than half.

It looks like it has been built by arranging the discount high to low on CRC. You know the RRP, so I imagine you also know how much this actually cost you. That’s the starting point, then remember that it’s used and not exactly mass market.

Every potential buyer is going to remember when they saw the individual components at their cheapest. It doesn’t matter that they cost more now, they’ll still think they are being ripped off, if not actually.

Ssshhh, be quiet, or they’ll introduce a compulsory, but fragile, handle bar mounted clutch switch that costs more than the mech to replace.

Disc ready would be low end bikes, if it happened.

No-one on expensive machinery would tolerate the sight of unbolted brake bosses or the sight / weight of a rim with a braking surface being used with a disc brake system.

I wouldn’t fit bushes because they’ll lower the bottom bracket more than fitting a WC headset.

The Works Component headset is not comparable to a FSA Pig in cost or quality. Firstly it is UK made and for a niche market, so of course it costs more. Secondly it uses sealed bearings in machined aluminium angled headset cups.

Not if the email Cy put out today is anything to go by. Seems strange to big up the current soul if a new model is due.

I’d have had one in a flash but there are no smalls left.

Not if you have stock making its way here on a slow boat.

I haven’t had a puncture yet but that may not be a fair test as I’ve put Stan’s sealant in the inner tubes. I run them on Crests so I can’t risk a puncture as I’ll never get them off.

rob why Turner so good? (I’m thinking of getting one).

If you have a problem, you speak to the guys who own the company and they will sort you out. I had a minor headtube badge issue, which Chainreaction, as the retailer, really should have sorted. But after a couple of months, I gave up waiting. An email to Turner, parts (plus spares) arrived from the U.S within 3 days, no questions asked.

If you are worried about wheel weights, you need to take the variables such as rotor/cassette/tyres out of the equation.

I recommend Hope Hoops with Crests, a versatile and not overly heavy solution.

If I’m riding fairly late or in bad weather, I take a survival blanket in the camelbak. I think the phrase “you can always walk out” is a misnomer, because if it goes really bad, you can’t.

    SLX?

The weight difference between XT and SLX M670 cranks is tiny if you remove the standard chainrings and will be about £35 cheaper. They were £92 for a 175mm triple at Merlin last week. In the longer term I also think they look better.
