At one time i had four bikes, running 165mm (road bike), 170s, 175s and 180s on my singlespeed. My knees didn’t know if they were coming or going and over time, i’ve changed all to 175mm. It’s better when switching between bikes now. If you’re used to 175s i’d stick with them for continuity.

Any SRAM speccing on a new bike is a cost cutting exercise for the manufacturer. It’s cheap OE, but then the consumer pays later with OTT aftermarket prices. Mad innit!

If you have the right clothing, why not? Never done it myself, but did Cadre Idris in awful weather one year……all good fun!

About three miles each way, mostly on traffic free purpose built cycleways. :-)

Always used MTB shoes (with studs in to upset the roadies) and XT pedals. Never had any problems even on 100 mile days. I like using MTB kit on my road bike…peaked helmet, baggies, Camelbak etc – all good!

Dirty rotors? Give the rotors a good clean – meths works fine or use a dedicated disc cleaner. Check that all fastenings are tight and try again.

I’ve gone back to shopping at Tesco recently after 6 years or so of Sainsburys. It’s ok. The food’s alright, the beer selection and offers are awesome, and…..get this! They have checkouts open so that you can pay and then leave the store without waiting very long! In Sainsbers, I always queued far longer which is what has finally driven me away. Plus Tescos is a bit rough n ready and threadbare around the edges – I like that.

I saw Nick Craig racing once, at Cheddar Challenge in the late 1990s. The trails were a sh!tfest as usual and where loads of elite riders were running down through Witches Wood, Nick was riding so fast he was hardly touching the trail. Almost as if he was hovering an inch above the trail – awesome to watch! :D

Love isn’t all hearts n flowers and it ain’t no bed of roses neither. I’d give it another go ~ from what you say, it was mostly ok. If she’s not nuts and you don’t argue ~ what’s not to like?
If all fails, read some Tom Robbins, he’s very good. “Still life with woodpecker” isn’t his best though. I’d start with “Even cowgirls get the blues” followed up with “Jitterbug Perfume” ~ both great reads. :-)

Just bought one of these as a compact convenient commuting light. USB charger, simple Cateye bracket and plenty of light for roads/dark lanes. Exceeded my expectations and feels very well built too.

Whenever anyone brings me biscuits or cakes, I feel infantalised and patronised. Not wishing to seem ungrateful, but I need money same as any other worker who needs to be paid. Bribery fails.
It’s no wonder that over the years I’ve seen so many talented people leave the cycle trade to work in something more lucrative; those people have taken their hard earned experience and knowledge with them, lost forever to the cycle shops of Britain. Seems people moan a lot about bike shops and mechanics in-particular, but don’t want to pay a fair rate.

Frank Black….again. Either of the first two albums ( frank black or Teenager of the year) Both awesome albums ~ who knows what happened to him after that, lost the plot a bit. Or delving further back into Pixies time, “Trompe le Monde” is their noisiest and my personal fave – the track Planet of Sound is splendid! :D

Most likely to do with the steering set up; either the stem is too long or too short for the head angle and fork length set up. Usual culprit is stem being too long, try summit a bit shorter.

I’ve owned three pairs of RC31s and I’m alive to tell the tale. Rigid forks; go for nice quality butted steel or carbon, combined with a large volume supple tyre and a nice pair of wide carbon bars – cushty!

It’s an overgrown Thudbuster for sure! (does anyone know what it is?) I don’t think the frame looks so bad, interesting even. But that hidious bar/stem combo needs to go.

Hope XC hubset from 2003. Couple of bearing changes along the way and the odd cleanout of the freehub. Still going strong 8)

Replays of the crash seem to show the clutch lever being torn off. I know it’s possible to ride a bike without a clutch, but he’d never have been quick to get that bike up, running and to the finish line. I think it’s perfectly arguable that if the same had happened to Rossi for example, help would have been rapid. Classic bit of moany Stonerism on Crash.net! I’ll miss his spectacular riding, but not his personality

I think Cal’s won a few more fans with that race. Awesome – he’s the real deal, but it’s also got to be said that it’s probably easier these days to come from the back of the field. CRT bikes are three or more seconds per lap slower than Cal’s Tech 3 – I’m not saying it’s easy, but…….

Dead chuffed to see Bautista take pole and run a good strong race – he has under achieved so far considering his talent.

Ride of the day; Scott Redding again. Brilliant! A fair n square second place taken from the best(?) rider in Moto 2. We’ve all seen that Marquez likes to dish it out, it was good to see him take some for a change.
I find it very odd that the BBC post race coverage is focussed on Brad Smith despite his less than amazing seventh place and consistent mediocre performances this season. Why not give some column inches to Mr Redding? Does his face not fit?
Good weekend of racing in all classes, keep it up chaps!

Great move by Lorenzo. The Yamaha’s a class act, he suits it well, he’s their established number one rider and will continue to do well there.
From what I’ve read, Honda say Rossi’s welcome back, but only on a satellite bike, not factory. So it’s that or Tech 3 I guess;- please – anything but more time on the Ducati, it’s so sad seeing him underachieve for whatever reason.
Marc Marquez will probably be on a factory Honda following a rule change that’s likely to be phased in by then. Way to go ~ that’ll be worth seeing.

Colin Edwards has a broken collarbone – if he races tomorrow, I’ll eat my shorts  (get well soon Colin)

Awesome awesome performance from Cal again – top Yam is so impressive! You only need to look at the company he’s with to judge how far he’s come this year. And ditto Scott Redding; front row and a real contender – about time us Brits had something to cheer about.
Got a dilemma now though;- go riding tomorrow? Or weld my arse to the sofa and watch a full day of Moto GP, WSB and BSB?
(got a sneaky feeling the TVs going to win this weekend, i can ride on monday instead!)

That was a fantastic day’s racing – all three classes. A clean sweep for the Spaniards 8O
And a result for Cal that bodes well for the rest of the season. :D
