All the winter boots I’ve owned have let in water and not even been especially warm. All last winter, I used mid length Sealskinz with an SPD shoe one size up from my summer shoes. Warm (ish) and dry feet all winter including 70 miles a week commuting plus off road stuff too. Best solution I’ve found so far :-)

12 miles each way for me, with about 500 feet of climb each way….It’s mostly enjoyable :-)

Try Epic Ride instead…..I find it great for all conditions and it doesn’t clog, even though stored in a cold garage.

Not in my 30’s , but I went down to a 3 day week around 2 years ago. Less money, but enough to cope on, and plenty more time to spend with family and out on the trails. Life is for living, not for being stuck indoors all the time doing crap that you don’t enjoy, for the benefit of somebody elses bank balance :-)

Transfil Black Snake cable sets are still available from various outlets………
Good cableset in my experience (and black)

His profile implies he’s in China, but wants goods shipped to Oregon. I’d be very careful with this one :?

edit; ps……..I think you’ve done the right thing!

Haven’t seen a Stellar, sorry. Looking at on-line info though, it’s not really very similar. Has no mesh lining, no hood and the cut looks much more “bikey”. And only seems to come in very bright colours as opposed to the dark gloomy hues of the Telegraph.

Madison Telegraph is lovely! I’ve had one for at least two winters, it’s warm but vented, well sealed, waterproof in most circumstances :-)
The hood is detatchable so works well on or off the bike.

I enjoyed it when I did it with a mate a few years back. We rolled out of Bristol Temple Meads, rode the Bristol to Bath cyclepath and picked up the K&A east of Bath. It was a relaxing 2 day trip with an over night stop at the Golden Swan in Wilcot ~ about half way. Basic accommodation but cheap and ok. As Peterpoddy says, nice easy going, quite, nice scenery and plenty of wildlife to see. Nice. I remember thinking how close we were to the M4 and a journey that takes 90 mins in the car takes 2 days on the bike………very mellow :-)

Not even going to be a last lap in Paris ~ “race over” at 41k. We’re robbed again.

Well, I just see Froome cruising around at a sedate pace and Quintana not attacking him. Where’s the fun in that? Why call it a”stage” if it’s just a parade lap?
I really think that as things are, riders are too easy to identify. Quintana would have a chance of slipping away if he went out in a plain black strip, different helmet, mirror shades ~ maybe even a bit of make up. Ok, his sponsors might not be too pleased about dropping his Movistar strip, but they’d be very happy if he won the tour.

Same place, Natrix. The trail was heavily modified after that crash in 2013 and they’ll probably need to look at it again. I saw the lady concerned earlier this week and she’s doing great ~ back out and riding again; maybe just a little slower ;-)

The traditions suck and rob us of great racing. Sean Kelly said during his Eurosport commentary “Nibali was right to attack” ~ I agree with him! Sport is all about exploiting your opponents’ weakness and to not attack is wrong.
And race till the end of the race for god’s sake! We could have awesome last days and stage finishes in Paris if they raced. It might do something for TV viewing figures if there was the prospect of some action today :-)

Had a quick look……. it ‘s very subjective, of course, but I don’t like the way they look. Not great to buy a helmet without trying on first either.

When my old eyeballs finally needed some help, I bought a nice retro pair of Oakley Minutes off ebay for about £20. A local optician put in Transitions prescription lenses for me for about £170 ~ so around £190 all in. I use them for everything…….riding, driving, motorcycling, day , night rain or shine ~ brilliant.

Thanks rizla. I never expected to, but i love it! 2007 Trance 3 with a 140mm fork stuck on the front, shorter stem and wide bars. It’s not posh, but keeps up with friends on bikes which cost ten times as much :-) And I don’t worry about trashing it and riding it through the shite of winter.

This photo’s out of date now, but the Trance 3 owes me well under £200 and rides like a beast! Bargains to be had out there :-)

Chris King were lovely headsets that only occasionally left a light score mark on some of my forks. Going back 15-20 years, they were head and shoulders above the competition. But the rest of the world caught up and now you can buy a perfectly good headset for far less. I know I won’t be buying another….

Staff are people too ~ just like you. They have lives and families to get home to ~ things that need to be done. They probably worked hard all day for low wages and can’t wait to get away! You can guarantee that those staff aren’t making “too much money”.

I do both for my 12 mile each way commute. I find it a bit much to do every day on the bicycle, so mostly use a 125 scoot. But if I scoot all the time, I miss the exercise and fitness,so a mix of both is good.
For a 6 mile commute you won’t need more than a 125. Tax is £17 a year, mpg is good, insurance will vary.

Lynch of course. For Eraserhead, Elly Man, Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, Twin Peaks etc and yes, even Straight Story. And he turns out some good music these days too.
I like Krony too, but he’s not in the same ballpark.

Specsavers are ok, but the selection of frames is so dull.If you want anything remotely sports orientated or more funky, you’ll struggle. I sourced frames elsewhere and had the local independent put my prescription in. (sounds like you just need reading glasses though, so you might be ok)

Always offer help if passing a rider in trouble of any kind. Most the time, most people have got it covered but are grateful of the offer. I’ve fixed a couple of chains for people over the years ~ seems a fair few still ride without a chaintool to fix breakages.

He was a funny guy ~ so sad when he died. I’ve got a stack of photos from a gig at the Fleece and Firkin in Bristol circa 1990. They’re all blurry and out of focus cos I was laughing too much; great gig. Just Frank with his Casio keyboard, Little Frank and Amoeba Frank :-)

    One Altura long sleeve jersey.
    One Altura courier bag.
    Two pairs of Altura gloves.
One Altura fleecy headband to keep my ears warm.
One Altura waterproof jacket (not hi-viz though).
Sometimes seen commuting on my ancient Marin.
Might grow a beard at some stage.

If you mean RS2, I seem to remember they need a 122, and again from memory, the Exploder has a 68 shell. So 68×122 would be my educated guess.

Not massively useful, but why not drop Matt at Middleburn a line via their website…..he’s a helpful chap :-)

Ebay with a couple of days to go…..100% positive seller, and a bike that retailed at about £1200. Decent deal if the price doesn’t go OTT.
