As some of these posts are of the ‘my milkman’s cousin’s friend stood next to someone famous once’, I’ll add that my uncle was a stormtrooper in Star Wars. His helmet (fnar) was even auctioned off at Christies in 2005 and fetched nearly £20k. Gulp. Gutted to not have been his favourite niece and inherited it!

I am interested in this type of diet, can someone post a reference to the book or website please? You can watch the original Horizon documentary HERE
Its interesting that the original premise of the show was to look at the effects of aging and the weight loss thing was just a side effect.
redwoodsFree MemberProximity to Violence vs Amount of hair on one’s head: An analysis of Breaking Bad
Found it a little slow and hard to get into at the very start, but the more I’ve watched the more I’m totally riveted to the screen and on the edge of my seat watching how everything unfolds.
Sad day when season 5 ends :(
redwoodsFree MemberThanks rocketman for the linky. I do bruise ridiculously easily though – slightest little knock and I have a big bruised egg appear so I do need a reasonable amount of protection and I’m not sure the 661 Rhythm pads would afford that.
I had a very minor OTB dismount at the bottom of Stanage at an almost standstill and three enormous purple/black mounds appeared on my leg within minutes and I still have lumps on my poor shin months on :( (I have been checked out by the docs incidentally, I’m just delicate and sensitive and probably chosen the worst kind of hobby really!)I’ve lost about a stone since I started shopping for pads (the size small POCs initially didn’t fit!) so my legs are getting less sturdy… perhaps I should reach my weight loss goal first and try the small Fox pads.
Gah, being an indecisive woman sucks! If I was a man I’d have bought some already, I’m sure of it.

In terms of sizing, the L should fit pretty much any adult male I find them a little tight to begin with but the neoprene eases off after a few rides. No issues with bunching or bagginess the big cut-out at the back works great for me I wear them all the time. That’s the trouble – I’m a 5 foot 9, size 12 adult female! But with ‘sturdy’ legs
Interesting that there’s no issues with bunching or bagginess round the knee. Maybe I do need to try the smaller size. I certainly wouldn’t want the round the knee area bit to get any looser with wear!
redwoodsFree MemberThanks for the comments. Anyone got any experience of the Fox Launch pro pads?
redwoodsFree MemberSorry only just seen this – I guess as you posted this 10 hours ago you made a decision as to whether to eat the carrots for lunch or go through til dinner!
But as there’s no concrete evidence as yet about whether you’re better eating your daily calorie allowance all in one go or spread out through the day, the advice seems to be to do what works best for you!
When I started I skipped breakfast and had a little bit of lunch and a little bit of dinner, but increasingly I found that having a little bit of anything during the day made me want a little bit more, whereas if I don’t eat anything all day it almost seems easier to totally switch off from food and just look forward to a normal, decent-sized dinner in the evening!redwoodsFree MemberWe used HG Mould Remover on some black spots on our bathroom ceiling (before the whole bathroom sprung a leak and ended up being replaced on an insurance job anyway!) but that gave very good results.
redwoodsFree MemberMe and Onzadog started doing this just after New Year and are pleased with the results so far. Fasting days are nowhere near as bad as I thought they’d be, and I’ve always been of the ‘eat regularly’ camp, have always thought about food and what I’d be eating next!
In fact, the last two fast days I’ve gone all day without food (just lots of herbal teas and water) and have one main meal of 500 calories about 6-7pm. Feel surprisingly good doing that. And in total I’ve lost 8lbs so far.I’ve already had one comment just this morning that I don’t need to lose any more weight, but piffle to that. I’d like to lose another 9lbs to get to 10 stone, which would still peg me in the ‘healthy’ bracket for my height and I might even stand a chance finding some knee/shin pads that will fit over my ‘sturdy’ legs :(
redwoodsFree MemberI mostly sign off with a ‘thanks’. Way too many people I come into contact with at work, sign off with ‘Best’ and I don’t get it at all. What does it mean? Where did it come from? Who started it?! It’s like best wishes but they can’t be arsed to finish the sentence
redwoodsFree MemberThere’s an awful lot of nutter-calling on here.
One man/woman’s nutter is another’s perfect match, if you ask me. Just because they’re not right for you doesn’t mean they’re not right for someone out there. It’s just about finding the right one for you (yes, yes, says the smug married)
redwoodsFree MemberBought mine a few months back – really love it. Compared to the clunky Acer Iconia I had before, it’s really user-friendly and a joy to use.
I also went through the Samsung Cashback thing – and on 16 December I had an email saying my claim had been validated and I could now look forward to a wait of up to 30 days to receive my £50, with an additional note to wait an extra 5 working days for bank delays!
Can’t fault the tablet though. Bloddy marvellous.

Used to use love at Lycos and I’m now married to her. She posts on here and she’s not bad on a bike.Put so romantically
But yes, ours is another online dating experience that turned out pretty well. 4 year anniversary next month (although I don’t think he’ll ever really forgive me for combining our nuptials in Whistler with snowboarding rather than combining it with a summer wedding and mountain biking!)

do girls look like their bikes?
Old, a bit knackered and creaky, and covered in mud?Yes
I do believe Onzadog has recently been on about it just being in need of a good service…. I’m pretty sure he was referring to the bike 8O

can I be the voice of dissent or will I get ostracised?redwoodsFree MemberSuch a wonderfully bittersweet film, I love it.
I’ve already suffered from dust-affected eyeballs earlier today though watching Two Socks get shot in Dances With Wolves. Tissue supplies running low in this house….
redwoodsFree MemberThere’s eight of us in the office this morning vaguely pretending to be productive. Been and had a big cooked breakfast so far and several tea runs and soon to start on the homemade yule log that one of us has brought in.
Oh, and discovered that my Elf name is Jolly McJingles according to this here from The Poke.
Shall be shuffling off at about 12-ish I think!
redwoodsFree MemberBeen looking forward to this but I’ve been poorly all week so it looks like me and Onzadog won’t be able to make it afterall :(
redwoodsFree MemberWell this was taken last year (on a crappy grainy phone camera), but it’s going to look pretty much exactly the same when I pooritup tomorrow – same baubs, star, tinsel, sleeping pampered dog….

Well, I doubt they do instantly godzilla – however as I always understood, there was more chance of it happening with them – could be wrong though. Not that it was stray (unfortunately the definition of a stray dog is one found to be roaming on public land, hence their comment that they couldn’t do anything) but usually dog wardens will try and locate the owner, and if unsuccessful they’re taken to council dog pound kennels, where by law they have to keep them for 7 days. After which they can be PTS if not claimed by their owner or rehomed.
I remember when we were viewing a house to buy a few years ago and noticed out of the back window a sorry looking dog in a garden of another property nearby, and it seemed to be pacing back and forth like a disturbed polar bear in a zoo enclosure might. The grass had been worn where he was pacing, so it was obvious this is something the dog spent a long time doing. Very sad to see :( Hubby rang the RSPCA and sadly I don’t remember them doing much about it either, something about the fact it had food and shelter and other bare bones minimum necessities.
Good on you for caring about this poor lad though.

Use of a Copyrighted logo without permission eh?LMFTFY.
redwoodsFree MemberSeems like there’s a lot of trees down in the area too, which might make even driving there more difficult.

Bring lots of layers just in case. And cake. It might be all that keeps us alive if there’s lots of snow
redwoodsFree MemberIt’s been put in the diary, so Onzadog-remaining-in-one-piece willing, we’ll be there :D
redwoodsFree MemberI haffs made this
It’s ‘sticky ginger cake with lemon icing dribblydrizzle on top’. But I’ve never made it before and this one hasn’t been tested (if we tested it, me and Onzadog would inevitably scoff the lot) so I don’t know if it’s actually edible.
Although I guess put that amount of sugar and butter in (almost) anything and it’s be tasty.

Samsung Galaxy 2 10.1 has £50 cashback off £299, today is the last day I think:I think everyone’s headed down the Nexus route anyway here, but I bought a Sammy Galaxy tab 2 10.1 from Amazon on Sunday for £279 and the £50 cashback offer is valid there too. According to the T&C, it’s available for purchases up til 31 December, which brings the price down to far more palatable just-above-£200.
I did have an Acer Iconia A510 before that, but in all honesty it was rubbish. Screen sensitivity was utter bobbins and the browser kept freezing and crashing.
Sent it back to Amazon and took a punt on the Samsung instead and am loving it. Is everything the Iconia was not and more.Toyed with the idea of sending it back (literally received it the same day the Nexus 10.0 was announced and had been waiting for that after hearing great things about the Nexus 7) but would have been looking at paying almost an extra £100 on top, and couldn’t really see what it would offer over the Sammy tbh.
redwoodsFree MemberI’ve been wearing some Smartwool ultralight merino baselayers year round and really rate them (although as already mentioned they do tear like tissue paper, and a long-sleeved one got turned into a short sleeved one after a brush with a tree at Afan).
They’ve washed well, are a good fit, never get sweaty and are soft and non-itchy against the skin. I’ve bought a few more from Cotswold Outdoor who are having a bit of a sale on Smartwool at the moment.
redwoodsFree MemberThanks for updating! Seems this is the story from the owner as posted on the Dogs Lost page:
It’s TRUE! My BEE BEE had nearly found her way home – some 5 and ahlaf miles across the chase to an old peoples home just around the corner from my house. I had been on the chase today and all but given up any hope of finding her. As I drove home my friend who had reposted Bee’s picture on FACEBOOK had spotted a black dog matching description and rang me to say she was there. I didn’t get my hopes up but when I saw her climbed a security fence and found her. She was as noisey as me to see me. I would like to thank every single person that has helped me over the last few days. It has been moving that my friends/family and even total strangers have pulled out all the stops to find my Bee and I will be eternally grateful. It just goes to show that there are some very thoughtful people in this world. Bee was chipped tonight (as if she hadn’t been through enough) and we are going collar buying at the weekend with them – but in the meantime, she will rest and eat little bits until she is confident and stronger. She looks brilliant considering her ordeal – but she is very stressed. Thank you all – I really DO appreciate your help and support. xx
redwoodsFree MemberThanks guys and good idea somouk, I’ll post on chasetrails forums too.
redwoodsFree MemberLooks like a cracking good ride! Sorry we missed it (were doing a bit of a epic push all the way up Walna Scar in t’Lake District at the time) but we’ll definitely try and make the next one :-)
redwoodsFree MemberI had this a while back. Posted it off first thing Monday, brand new free hub Inc bearings arrived on Wednesday.
redwoodsFree MemberI’ve got a Van36. It’s a good fork in its travel and tracks well but I find it difficult to balance sag and bottom out resistance. No idea if any other fork would be any better though.
Fox are pricing out themselves out of the market though. Especially as Marzocchi are returning to form.
