London is the place for things to do but at a price. I went to Uni there many moons ago in the days of no fees, full grants, rent paid in holidays, cheap council flats/squats etc. Those days are gone sadly. One of my kids is there now having a great time on a good course but the rent is astronomical, that with fees is a huge burden despite him working part-time and us subbing him. I feel sorry for young people today being in this situation. I agree with the points about London colleges being spread out and not a studenty vibe, other places are much better from this perspective and cheaper to live. Had great memories of visiting mates at Brighton, Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle etc

I recently got pulled over in Bournemouth on a dual carriageway for doing 44 in a 40 by 2 policeman, I thought here we go, but the one who dealt with it just said my speed was creeping up a bit, politely told me off and sent me on my way. He showed me the evidence on this camera gadget thing. I guess he was having a good day and being reasonable and OP’s a bad one and not

Article in todays Torygraph motoring section about PCP’s not being that good and to be wary. I’ve done a few short 2 year leases off http://www.dsgauto.com/ contact was a chap called Phil, really helpful, often has some really good deals on cancelled orders.

Use Hermes too for all small parcels now for home and work as it’s tracked, they collect for 20p more if I can’t drop off at local shop, but still use Parcelforce 48 for big stuff like bikes if it’s an ebay purchase as price is only £11.99, much cheaper than going direct off their own site. Hermes is also good for linking to your ebay account, loads the info and tracking number automatically.

I did the RYA day skipper course at evening classes a few years back down near us in Christchurch, and practical later. Really glad I did it, don’t do much boating and think I was basically okay but was really good to learn and re-inforce the rules of the road so to speak and basic navigation. I was amazed at how stupid some people were (but glad they were doing the course too) e.g the bloke next to me already had a big yacht he kept in Poole harbour, had no idea about plotting courses or tides, how to use radio, he said he only ever went to the Isle of Wight and only when he could see it….
    Definitely recommended.

Get one of the last 2011/12 Toyota Hiace 120’s, £8-10K, add £1000 on crew van conversion, won’t go wrong and plenty of change to spend on something else

using a tent peg to find and then check you’ve got a good clear run & stick with the spring loaded traps (bucket over top to keep light out)and checking regularly, most effective in my experience. Many years ago we used to use gas tablets, based on phosgene I think, not now for various reasons.

I read about an eccentric Victorian who ate anything, he said a mole was the most disgusting thing he had ever tasted, closely followed by a bluebottle.

^ you’re right, I feel guilty & should have done this first, done the right thing now hopefully and better karma. We do get lots of stuff left which we try and trace ownership to return, store for 6 months minimum and then if no joy recycle or auction to raise funds for the charity if we think it’s worth doing so. Clearing out an old storage area just now and we are coming across lots of other weird and wonderful things like this that have been stored for a lot more than the 6 months, years I suspect. Point taken, lesson learnt etc etc
