Yep I’m always wary / cynical , why I thought only paying a deposit until seen and tried but may be worth getting independent inspection done up there first.

After an hour on the phone to microsoft support and them remotely doing weird things, have finally got office back, and a newer version apparently which they tell me will last a year (no charge) but will have to update/resubscribe next year so a result of sorts. Still annoying it went in the first place, the cynic in me thinks it’s done on purpose to try and get people like me who have lost their original keys to buy new products, or weed out dodgy ones which I guess is fair enough. Thanks for your help.

I like Technics 1210’s, had for donkey’s years and never goes wrong, just change cartridge every so often. I think they have been made again recently but no idea of cost now, but good used one should be obtainable.

I have 2 for storage in a yard, not sure I’d want in my garden though. £1500 new on site from china. Very handy for what I need and secure as anything can be with the right hasp and cisa covered locks like above.

I wimped out going tonight, well actually forgot until just now, spent the £22 ticket price on weekend beer instead, maybe a wise choice.

My favourite Fall stuff and going to see them a lot was from about mid to late 80’s, probably when Brix was in them. I see she is playing their stuff now as ‘The Extricated’ – looked at some youtube clips, instruments sound great, not sure about her trying to sing though. 6 music seem to be giving her a fair amount of airtime now.

As above, japanese stuff. One of my kids bought a 60,000 mile Honda Civic a year ago for £450 and is still using it, very reliable and past the MOT again no problem.

+1 for Roland Cube, daughter has one and it’s great, picked up used but like new for £35.

I mentionned a Transalp above as a good all-rounder, another Honda I had I really rated was a rarer NX400 Falcon, there’s a few imported here in the UK (Brazilian market) – has the XR400 single engine but with electric start and lower comfier seat. Smooth for a single, would do 80, economical and good on crap roads too. Seem popular with adventure long trip riders for some of the reasons mentionned above i.e. not too OTT.

I had my t5 remapped from 130 to 170bhp so not too excessive but it did make a big difference – obviously quicker, great for overtaking and up hills now but also smoother and more economical, the latter of which I can’t seem to get my head around. The chap who did it said it was because you don’t thrash it as much and the engine is working less hard, or something like that. If down near the south coast I can recommend them.

I’d agree with tjagain it’s the rider skills that make the difference. A chap around our way in his eighties who used to wear hunting/shooting/fishing clobber on his bike, sadly recently passed away (not on bike), road a Honda Dominator single for years which I think was only about 45 bhp. No-one could ever keep up with him, you might be faster on a long straight but never seen anyone go around corners like him, so fluid and flexible in his riding. Turned out he was an ex-TT winner and works rider for BSA and others in the fifties and held loads of track records over the years.

Back to OP. Honda for build quality and reliabilty. Transalp’s are a great first bike, not excessive power but enough, comfy go anywhere bikes & cheap enough over 20 odd years of production. Enjoy whatever you end up with.

I sprayed an old VW Beetle once in a barn and it looked great, for a bit at least, but a week or so later it started crazing I think because the cellulose based paint I used reacted with whatever was there before, even after prepping I thought well. 2 pack better but pretty smelly/dodgy stuff and needs doing by someone with the right kit and place.
Also once painted an old Cortina with toplac boat paint, looked hand painted obviously but looked shiny and lasted well for ages.

Had the ankle done just over two weeks ago now, one day in and out. Bit sore at first but able to put weight on and walk about after 3 days and now feels pretty good, although I did ride my bike today (in low gears) and probably over did it still as hurting a bit. Overall though glad I had it done after 2 years of pain. Just need to work back into bike riding more gradually and less bull at a gate probably.one thing I wasn’t told was the after effect of anaesthetic, lots of fruit and Alpen needed to get things moving after a few days…

I used to carry stuff like kayaks on the roof of my van so barn doors were better for sliding them on and off via the back, but if you aren’t carrying stuff on roof then yes tailgate good for weather protection

If you are down south, we got one of these 4 years ago for the same purpose for a home office & teenage kids/friends overflow space: http://www.fencingcentre.co.uk/penthouse-log-cabin-55m-x-40m.asp
It was a fair bit cheaper back then though. We just bought the kit and did the base, build, insulation, electrics etc ourselves which was all straightforward to do over a week with me and a mate doing it all. Still looking good and has had plenty of use.

I’ve recently been inundated with nuisance calls from energy switch type people (answered first few times) but their number shows up as coming from different land line area codes from around the country. Not had this before, pain having to block each one.

Had it done yesterday, went in in the morning, back home late afternoon. Bit sore obviously but not as bad as I thought, not neeeded the painkillers yet. Surgeon said I could start putting weight on it after 4 days and should be pretty mobile in a couple of weeks which is much better than I was initially told, we’ll see. He also said it would be a good excuse to play on it over Xmas period to get pampered, the thought never crossed my mind obviously

I worked in this area for a number of years managing outdoor adventurous actvities, accommodation, land & building works/maintenance. I went via the NEBOSH general certificate (pretty straightforward) then the Diplomas (harder), IOSH membership etc. with my then employer paying (will the forces cover this as part of the getting ready to leave package whatever it’s called?). Enjoyed doing the studying and putting it into practice in the organisation I worked for but I’d echo above, it did still get frustrating after a while and I’m glad it’s not the main part of what I do now although of course I do think it is a really important area of work to help protect everyone.

‘Jumbline 2’ word game certainly passes a fair amount of time on boring journeys, (as long as you turn the annoying backgroung music off and put up with some American spelling), to a point anyway, as above then mix with watching downloaded stuff.

Whenever there is line of traffic around our way there’s invariably a Honda jazz at front driven by an old person who seems incapable of going over 20 mph. Mother had one which sums it up, yes big with seats down, but plasticky and slow. I generally love hondas but not these ones, you’d regret it for sure compared to what you have now

Honda trailies for reliability, hold their price pretty well, what budget?
Thought about a decent ebike instead? Been using one lately on various trails, ace fun and less chance of getting grief from certain types.

If new, check out happynewvans website for best discounts and use this to barter with local dealer if needed. If used, yes places you list, obviously research sold prices for age/mileage, read reviews on models, view first and take someone who knows their stuff with you if unsure yourself.
    Cheers
