@Dolcered, now that sounds intriguing. Being a humble pilot I’m probably too thick to understand half of it.
    :D
Resilience is intriguing in “our” world and it definitely has scope in business/cities/nations in responding and coping with threats.
As MTBers, there’s a lot we can unpack, both the physical and more importantly, the mental resilience.
This forum as a platform can really help all riders in understanding themselves and developing resilience to the knocks that will inevitably happen. Whether they be from injury or just the aging process.
Understanding will give us control of therapies and also, understanding the natural processes. From that reduces fear and allows acceptance that we change. Which, is a win win.

    Hi Rona,

It was part of a taught Masters at Coventry Uni. The Masters was on Aviation Human Factors. The thesis was on resilient engineering in private jet pilots. This became a paper that I presented at Copenhagen last week.
No one had every studied this group of pilots before. :)

    Hi every one,

I’m Heather and my local rides are Woburn and Chicksands in England. We’re moving back to Australia in 2 years time and our new house is literally across the road from the Wooroi day use car park leading to an amazing set of MTB trails (Tewantin, Sunshine Coast, QLD).

I’m just about to go part time at work as I need more time for my hobbies. :D

I ride a Whyte G150 and S120, both amazing bikes but the G150 is nearly 10 years old now, I’ve upgraded the gears to a 1×12 and changed over the brakes to Shimano XT. I’m starting to consider an e-bike.
I do have a road bike that is older than the G150, but arthritis in my neck and lower back make road biking more uncomfortable than it needs be. To that end, I sold my beautiful Ducati last year as the arthritis made it impossible to do the “life saver” (look over the shoulders).

HRT was the best thing ever. It’s not perfect and it’s not for every one. I got my QOL back. Funnily enough, it was on a ride with some similarly aged ladies when the penny dropped about anxiety. A connection I’d have never made other wise.

Funnily enough,  I like the gym. Well, I have 2 personal trainers, one comes to me, the other I go to him. I do a variety of exercises and love lifting weights. Other activities include indoor rock climbing and I have just started the wing foil journey. :) I like swimming and playing in the surf too.

I am an absolute sucker for any of the Below Deck franchise. It’s not all trashy reality escapism for me, I do watch it for leadership examples and crew dynamics. Well, that’s what I tell myself. :)

I’ve only just finished a Masters so reading now is trashy novels that require little to no brain power. :D

Yeah nah. Far too nasty. I mean if she’s not wearing underpants then what’s doing the wiping? What about a number 2? Picking poo out of a zipper is not one of my life goals.

Oh if you like a bit of humour with your met forecasts, check out #WTForecast. The forecast is pretty good but the descriptions are priceless. :D

I’m waiting to get the pronoun thing done and I should be good to go.
I am fortunate in that I have a good mix of folks to ride with. I do enjoy it all but I do like the relaxed energy of a women’s ride. Also, we’re of a similar age and can share stories and experiences of menopause etc.
I used to be pretty fearless and then a few years ago I noticed myself getting a tad anxious about drops and descents. It was on a ride with the ladies and one mentioned anxiety as her symptom of menopause. A light bulb moment.

I am all for “men’s sheds” set ups too. Men need places where they can speak freely about things too. I think the development of that programme was one of the best things I have ever seen for men.

I do subscribe to a few aviation forums. I’ll be honest, I don’t post as much as I could as the torrent of criticism is just something I honestly don’t need to read. By criticism I mean “back in my day blah blah” or “why do you need a special uniform?” or “you only got there because you’re a woman”…

As a side note, I recently went to Bike Park Wales by myself. A bit apprehensive at first. I needn’t have been. Every one was super supportive and helpful. It was a really fun experience.

Ahh weather. One of my favourite topics.
I do use the Met Office site, and scroll down to the UK Weather Map depicting how the rain is moving.

Windy is good for my wing foiling (read swimming) activities.

The Apple Weather app isn’t bad. The BBC site is good for getting a feel for how the weather is shifting.

AeroWeather Pro is fantastic. It gives me all the info I need. However, your destination does need to be within 5nm of an airport.

A fascinating interview with Dr Leatt. Thank goodness there are people like him with the ability to understand the science of injury and to do something about it.

My bikes are festooned with Mudhugger products. Front, downtube and rear. I just hate mud all over my clothes. Mud on my specs annoy me.
Sure, my friends laugh. But I laugh at them with their mud stained trousers that really does look like they shat themselves. :D

    Really good products.

Yes. The Karvers. They have a bit more protection and most of the mud stays out of the laces. :)
    I still have a pair of Sam Hill’s. :)

I enjoy Guy’s youtube bike test videos. Ridiculously enthusiastic and rarely has a bad thing to say about the bikes. Possibly because there are no really crap bikes. Gear tests would be useful. :)
I still think Guy needs the gloves from FIST with the leopard shooting laser beams. He knows the ones. ;)

510 did do a flat pedal shoe with a lace flap enclosure. When it’s really foul out, they are my go-to shoe coupled with some waterproof socks.

His trainer makes a really good point about doing all the base training work before getting into the big weights and fun stuff.
Sports massages aren’t just for pro riders. My physio insists I have them regularly. Helps keeping flexible as I age (56yo).

What would be a good interview is to ask Gee about his psychological processes during the recovery.
The body can heal (most of the times) but the mind may not ever get back to race pace.

The Ripton link takes me to the Trucker Breeze hat site.
Will the “jorts” (WTF??) be available in the UK?

As for pricey kitchen gadgets, I am all for them. Husband is the chef in our household, the more techy gadgets he buys, the more MTB kit I can buy ;)

I wear Shock Absorber HRM bra
    http://www.sweatshop.co.uk/shock-absorber-absorber-heart-rate-monitoring-bra-429113?colcode=42911303
This one is the go for full on bounce control. If it’s good enough for running, then it’s good enough to keep the D cups under control.

Berlei podium bra. It’s been my go-to bra for nearly all my trail riding. Keeps the D’s sorted plus if you use a HRM that needs a strap, it is all integrated.
    http://www.sweatshop.co.uk/berlei-podium-hr-bra-ld44-423045?colcode=42304518

For more moderate control, Note, there are two types, one has more control than t’other.
    http://www.sweatshop.co.uk/sportjock-super-support-sports-bra-ladies-423113?colcode=42311301

Some bras I have found can be a bit restrictive if you have to tighten up the straps etc too much or the shoulder straps dig in when used with a back pack. The advantage of the above bras is that you can chuck your shirt off post ride and you won’t be embarrassed. :D

    I hope this helps

Funnily enough, Whyte are releasing their 2016 models, the hard tails are either called “compact” or standard. The compact bikes have slightly tweaked geometry and contact points. No “female” v “male” bikes. (Road bikes, different case)

I’ve had some coaching by Tom. Best £45 I’ve spent. Clear, focussed, easy to comprehend and all round good bloke. Well worth it and will definitely use Tom again.

Whatever your skill level, what ever you want to achieve, Tom’ll help you get there. As others have said, he can walk the talk and really can get the message across.

Oh yes, the beard is quite impressive. :D

Oooh glad it’s not just me who have found the 510 Carves uncomfortable.
I do however, have a fabulous pair of (male) Sam Hill 510s. Great shoes. Tough and comfy.
    For winter use, seal skins.

I’ve been using the 11″ Macbook Air for years. I needed something that was portable and light. I am away from home for 6 days in a row and needed something I can use for the degree I’m doing part time.
You can either use the Apple software or bite the bullet and get Microsoft Office for Mac.

I would wait a bit and see what’s released very soon. The retina screen is mighty tempting.
If any one in your family is a student, then they can get student discounts on the Macbook. (about 14%)
