So I had resigned myself to getting new plates and popped into Evans in Leeds. I explained the problem and then I was kindly told that the cleat screws are all a standard size and that you need to take the grub screws out!!

    D’oh !!!
    Mystery solved and didn’t I feel like a tw#t.

Big up to Evans in Leeds

I had the same dilema a couple of years ago. Moved from a Handjob (which I loved)to the Soul which is awesome and built it up with XT and 130mm Revs. Fantastic bike which I still love to ride.

I then had a demo at Dalby on a Zesty and like you, fell in love with FS (quite a good climber and a hoot on the downs). I bought one 6 weeks later, but ended up not swapping over any of the kit, but just upgraded when parts started to wear.

I have kept both and was really pleased in the end, as the Soul is just so iconic and carries alot of good memories of great rides. Having said that, the Zesty has also a few great tales to tell now its two years old.

Keep both and love them both for what they are.

    Good luck

Harsh, but fair. I’m more of a reader than a writer – and a lover, not a fighter!

I'm in York too, but working in Garforth (Leeds) so would gladly join the gang – also got a mate who'd be interested too.

    Thanks, but is that it?

I was expecting some sort of Zen like response or it's a 'black art' type thing

    Yes, that's definately it!

I had the forks briefly checked out, but can't see TB anywhere. I don't have the brake levels either – sorry Woodsman, swaped then when I put bombers on it and the cantis wouldn't fit. I do have the seat, seatpost and the cool cable routing collar for the rear brake cable.

I get some photos sorted tomorrow and get them emailed to you if you like.
    Cheers

Woodsman – I'm in York, but the forks are actually in Stratford upon Avon. I'll check out the TB claims from the earlier posts and let you know. I can't remember which year exactly, but had Ritchey canti brakes and it's an 18".

I have a set from my old Cindy – I got it mid 90's and was definately triple butted P2 forks in a brownish colour. The frame is light blue (had gripshifts too!). Don't know if that helps, but they are available if you want to make me an offer

Purple Mountain definately have Zesty 314s to demo. Call them and book a ride – I was on the demo weekend a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with the 314.

haddock – was one of the first I tried – as I said availability is an issue. the 2010 models are out in the next couple of months, distributors have nothing left, so whats out there is out there.

Cheers NBT, but if you don't ask, you won't get. Availability is so limited that Evans was my best bet for securing the bike.

Thanks for that – have you ridden the Soul? if so how does it compare, given the identical geometry?

    Thanks people – nice photos.

I will post mine, once its built up

I really wanted a red soul, but didn’t buy when they were ‘en vogue’ – really regret it, but black will do just fine.

My proposed setup is similar, but my 130 revs are not U-turn. Do you think I’ll have a problem?
