FYI that means she’s figured a way to use them without having to either use her phone or go through the official apps.

Come on, give me more credit. She doesn’t know the passwords! And can’t install new apps without either me or Mum approving first.

Now I grant she may very well be using the services again somehow, but it’s new accounts and not on the Mac (parental controls/blocked) so if she is her use will be drastically reduced (she wouldn’t risk it at home that I know for a fact). Her behaviour is drastically improved either way.

As has been mentioned already though by someone else, we were not prepared to let her behaviour have an affect on her younger sisters and for us this has been the ‘solution’. Not one we expected to have to take but when she was completely unable/unwilling to see how she was behaving and the effect it was having on family atmosphere she left us little choice.
Speaking with people afterwards and general opinion was they couldn’t be bothered we the hassle, but why allow the behaviour to continue. If she had to ‘hate’ us for a bit to have the change in character we now have then it was worth the hassle.

Either way the OP may be half joking in his post but if not I can fully sympathise with the situation and at some point something has to give.

Brave. Very brave. Possibly bordering on suicidal

This made me laugh. Unfortunately through experience(!) although for us it was revoking social media.

A progressively worse behaviour and attitude led to progressively more severe (to her) punishment. We never took phone away so we could always get hold of her and vice versa however she lost charger so had to last on one charge a day, then kicked from wifi to ultimately having all her social passwords changed and logged out/uninstalled. Was rather frosty atmosphere for a week or two. She is however a much nicer teenager again. Facebook etc is ruining kids (I regret ever letting her on but hard when friends etc are all on) and talking to friends with kids of similar ages it’s seems we aren’t alone in the behaviour traits we experienced.

She is still off them now 2 months later and beyond the occasional moan she doesn’t ask/pester and is still a much more pleasant person and interacts with her sisters more too. She allowed back on the wifi now though!

I feel your pain however. The Cocker who is the oldest was absolutely great until she got attacked off two Great Danes. Pretty much unraveled every bit of training we had done outside and recall went totally out the window. The slightest thing would spook her and she would bolt, on one occasion nearly getting hit off a car she ran that far. Ended up putting her on a long leash which helped calm her.
Best thing for her was getting the Springer as she built confidence around a small but rapidly growing dog again. Not saying you should go get another but we noticed how quickly the Springer learnt through copying the Cocker (and vice verse helped the Cocker) is there no older dogs you can walk with that yours can hopefully pick up behaviour traits from?

I’m no expert and these were the first puppies we’d had after having rescue dogs before. Was just surprised how fast the Springer learnt (clever breed or not) just by following the cockers lead.

    Hope you get sorted.

Same as BigEaredBijer however as soon as the transfer letter arrived we rang eON and they sorted it straight away. Was Scottish Power iirc that the cold callers were acting on behalf of. Never even spoke to the ‘new’ supplier as current (eON) sorted it. Never heard a thing from SPower again.

Has it? Don’t use it all that much anymore. Must have the same attitude as the developers of the SoundCloud app for iOS then. On Android you can read track info and comments etc on iOS it’s just a player basically.

I would serious re-consider on the standard USB cable requirement. My last 2 Polar watches both had standard USB connectors and in both cases it was the USB socket in the watch which led to their demise. Water/sweat gets trapped inside the socket and they corrode.

    +1

Polar have changed their newer stuff to a proprietary cable to combat it.

My M400 has however been faultless and never suffered from it in 18months or so…tempted fate now though!

Yep. 35yo. Always when stressed and/or down which is a regular occurrence at the minute. Never really related, just mad. Sometimes just wake in a panic and ‘remember ‘ nothing of it.

    Trying on a phone/tablet?

I can’t do it anymore on the iDevices only on PC. Can’t scroll enough on the text to get a complete link to share when. It on computer. Assume iOS isn’t handling the pop up box properly as switching browsers makes no difference.

Edit. Previous comments then pretty much confirm iOS issue.

Pretty much. Been out 5x this year if that. Location not the issue. Head and heart is. Lost interest 18-24months ago as was majorly in the dumps and riding wasn’t helping as I was just mulling over things even more. Pretty much coincided with me hardly ever commuting too but that was laziness mainly.

Started doing more running/walking/strength, so wasn’t inactive and just figured it’d come back in time. Regressed earlier in year and convinced myself I wanted a bike again as I really needed to get back out. Reality is I’ve probably wasted a load of money (again!) as beyond those few rides I just really can’t be bothered. It’s just not there.

Still running and training though, but think in reality I need to admit for me, at this point it’s over.

Wouldn’t touch an st as said before they are not secure, highly nickable and ford refuse to acknowledge the issue.

Much like most modern cars with keyless/push button start? The issue is less the car and more the accessibility of the obd port and the fact they have I assume the only way to put it is hacked so that people can start them without the key. Certainly not isolated to ST/RS’s and Ford. Iirc BMW hit first.

Anyway I have a MK2.5 (facelift) fits a 29er in boot with seats down obviously.
Build quality is fine imo. It’s very thirsty though around town and not much better out of it. Sounds great however!

    Sad indeed.

+1 for cougers oh tweet too.

Not really listened to LP for a while other than when it pops up on shuffle, but as a major Dance head growing up they were one of the few alternatives that struck a cord with me.

Just listened to One More Light of the same named album. Deep. Hope whatever is next he and so many others like him find peace. RIP.

As for the colour blindness yeah it’s tested for but contrary to allymcmurdo post. Some companies will allow laser eye surgery but it changes the medical aspect. It did however used to be a big no no. It’s a company specific thing though it seems.

    RDL-82

    Yep, me!

Echo pretty much what allymcmurdo says apart for is it pretty much is 35hrs a week. Some slightly more some slightly less where I am.

Earliest start here is 0345. Latest finish 0225.

Who’s it’s for? Some companies have Sunday’s as part of the working week some don’t. Lots of little contractual differences.

Virgin = big £’s but imo the worst t&c’s

I enjoy it. The shifts are a pain but the time off makes up for it.

Only thing I don’t like is the current push towards widespread DOO (driver only operation).

Yep. Get it a lot on iPhone but not iPad. Weakness in the mobile site code or some such thing maybe? Essentially the same browser aren’t they just one loads the mobile site instead are the rogue ads somehow able to exploit that difference?

Anything to do with the phone using assisted gps? Assuming they still do. I imagine the triangulation with the phone masts etc may help or I may be miles off!

…my car has lost resale value. It has been crashed into three times at work (NHS car park, no CCTV) Had the rear bumper resprayed and filled for 350 quid to have it destroyed again a year later. Had the front wing bent in badly and alloy wheel scuffed to hell on its face. I’ve given up.

When I come to sell thats money I’ve lost.

Same boat. Have give up for now. Will sort when I come to change.

£132.9 Shell V-Power just outside Manchester City Centre, so expect higher but its shot up a bit in a short time. May have dropped back down now as the ‘normal’ fuels on the sign have fallen a bit but haven’t had to fill up since then. Good job I don’t do many miles!

Been covered a few times lately. My personal preference is the Polar M400 which uses a separate HR strap. It’s about to be superseded by the M430 however which has built in HR.

Both do daily activity tracking etc and receive msg’s etc from connected phone (can’t reply but good for seeing if important when phones in pocket/bag) and are fine for multi sports tracking/logging. Good backend site for training and recovery too.

No experience of others. Went with the M400 based on DCRainmaker review. Great for me.

Another vote for the Polar M400. Also a daily activity tracker and via the app can give rest guidelines and plenty more.

About to be replaced with the M430 which has built in HR but is looking like it’ll be considerably more than the M400 was/is.

Space dictates how many I have and that’s two.

The fixie/commuter and the mtb which is currently a 29er SS HT.

Whilst the SS may be limiting in some situations I largely ride solo so not worried about slowing others down.
For me it’s more a case of picking the right bike that covers what I want. Had a 150/130 FS previous and tbh for the vast majority of riding it was overkill for me. Once I get properly back into it I’ll build a nice HT with some front bounce again and am certain it’ll cover everything I need.

Fair play to those with several but do you honestly not just gravitate to a particular bike whilst the others largely collect dust? I know the what I did when I was able to have a few.

Looks to be the same frame to me. Probably same frame for both options with a slightly different tt sticker. Could be wrong mind. Email them and check

I have just fitted M7000 but had xt785 previously. Can’t tell any difference tbh. New M8000 XT’s may be better than new SLX but I can’t imagine by much although I’ve no experience to quantify that, but I’m more than happy with the performance of the M7000’s so far.

Cant comment on shifters as they are on a single speed.

Hope it works out just fine for you.

A reduction in quality/features and or design would be such a shame. Some of those features are why your frame is at the top of my wish list. I’d love to say I was ready to buy now but as I’m only just getting back into it after a bit of a break, I need to ride consistently again before I splash out.

I certainly hope you can maintain the level you want to be at with the brand and product.

Well fwiw price increase or not they are still on my short list for when I change because they tick the boxes that matter to me so it’s a price worth paying to get that.

Brexit aside I think we’ve all just got used to paying ‘low’ for things. I’ve been off the bike for nearly 18months so haven’t been paying much attention to prices but have just finished putting together a new SS and was surprised at the prices for some parts compared to why I’d paid in past so I sucked it up in some cases and down specced in others. Can’t say I can honestly notice the difference in that regard anyway.

Ok then I got sorted today to a fashion but what a pain.

Went to Local Evans and they tried several chains. 1-1/8 kmc was a no go. Would wrap the sprocket but not the ring. Tried some random stretched thing out of the bin wrapped both but they were unsure what it was unfortunately. Then tried a 1-1/8 Miche track chain which wrapped both. Result. Sort of.

The shop were quite surprised tbh and not sure what’s going on. Anyway some pictures…and sorry for the links. Flickr never plays nice on the iPad.

The 3/32 kmc chain…you can see the lack of wrap as the teeth hit the pins…

    https://www.flickr.com/gp/e1ys1um/770244

    Now the 1-1/8 Miche…wraps fine, but…

    The but part.

The shortest I could make the chain is as the following picture. Is this a poor axle point? It’s not giving much room for stretch. Chain is tight and wont fall off however if I’d done the next available link it’s too short. Advice greatly appreciated and if anyone has any clue on the 3/32 or geared chain issue please let me know.

Some lovely bikes in here. I do love a nice hardtail.

Best bike I owned was my 26″ BFe. Regret selling that to this day. Enjoyed my NP Mega but not the same so that went too and I’ve been bikeless (long story!) in hindsight I should have sold the Mega frame and got a hardtail again.

Just built up an Inbred SS to get me back at it, but some of these have got me looking at frames already

Scratch that actually I’ve just looked the chain won’t wrap the m7000 chain ring completely.

I’ll get a picture later. Annoying. It’s all I needed to be able to ride again

Standard slx m7000 ring. Both seem fine in isolation but not together.

Chain line maybe an issue. Put away for now. Might be having a stupid moment so stepped away!

Is that Adapter not too big then for a 160mm rotor? Isn’t the +20 for 180mm rotors? I could be wrong but that’s my understanding.

    Ok just a little update.

Fork went back and CC/eXotic agreed not ‘upto their usual high standard’. Full refund although they haven’t refunded my postage yet so need to chase that.

Was offered and was prepared to take a replacement if they could send photos of the steerer and also asked if the normal non 15mm axle versions had the same oversized/1.5″ steerer/crown seat. They wouldn’t/couldn’t say so passed that up.

Haven’t sorted anything yet as a replacement as been distracted. Looking like steel is the way forward now or suspension but don’t want that.

Anyway hopefully this might save someone else the hassle or disappointment of the oversized crown or whatever.

That’s my thinking Andy R. Essentially 3 parts, steerer, crown and legs which would be the stanchions on a sus fork. Either way we all understood!

Yep that’s looking like the case Ben H. Also surprised I couldn’t get the hope over.

Still waiting a response. Seems they are not as quick to respond to issues as they are sales enquiries.

I may be interested in those cynic-al. I’ll see what I get back for them first.

And go on explain please, what’s the difference then? I assumed it was a csu regardless of bounce. Genuine curiosity as I see no difference if I’m honest, certainly not on these forks, maybe on the monocoque type being one piece.

    RDL-82

I’ll update the thread when I get a response as I’ve asked if they all are like that now. I’m still waiting a response however.

    RDL-82

I probably will do. Still waiting some other parts so not a major rush.

Quite like the OnOne Monocoque ones tbh (out of stock though) it’s just the carbon steerer part. Just makes me nervous! Irrationally I know, just not something I’ve had experience of. With any luck I’ll hear back soon, even if they only confirm their returns procedure.

    RDL-82

Erm, glad to be of assistance crashtestmonkey!

See what they come back with. I’ve used them previously on my old 26″ SS and they were spot on so I maybe just got unlucky this time. Regardless these are going back. If they offer an alternative I’ll be asking for pictures of the csu/steerer first.
Failing that I’ll be looking at alternatives. Shame OnOne are out of stock, I could drive there and look first.
All I’m certain on right now is I don’t want a suspension fork on this build. Have looked at the Singular forks but can’t live with the colour, petty as that is. Will check out the Surly one. Wanted carbon tbh though just from previous use.
