hi rob, how tall are you? I'm sorely tempted by one of these, currently on an 18" 456 which is fine, but ragley site wont load on phone for some reason so cant compare, but heard they come up shorter in tt length…

    Cheers

yep button to turn it on off, makes no difference, and rescaning does nothing, when trying to install driver it tells me that the hardware is not present, god knows, new one to me and a google search turns up nothing useful, looking like ubuntu is staying on

built in card on an medion sim2090 notebook with vista as standard

yep fresh installs of both vista and xp using supplied drivers (both vista and xp on disc)

nothing shows in device manager under network devices, yet as i said ubuntu see's it straight off and works fine with it.

all using the supplied disks, used before with no problems, tried going on manufacturers website and getting upto date versions, still nothing, yet the linux distro works fine.

looked into this in the past and the answer seems to be no, as they are in a propriatry format and protected and as far as i could find out no one has bothered or at least succeded in decoding it.

You can add text in memory map or at least in version 5,unless you mean something else and i've mis understood your question that is…

Tomahawk, nice ride, is that a pure racing dropper? How is it, would be fitting one if i go for it.

Chipbutty, would love to keep the 456 but only have room for 2 bikes and need the commuter more, so 1 has to go.

Stompy, i agree the ride is more important, would be nice to keep it light though.

So i take it, its good enough for all day, one bike does it all duties assumming built suitably?

Will go for the rp23 i think, i have the money now, so why not, cheaper in the long run.

agree with above, xt is lovely if you can justify it not sure about the forks tbh however i have pikes without poplock and never felt i needed it easy enough to bend down.

Got a 456 summer season with full xt in 18' if you want to try it first seeing as your only down the road

david, not a problem, will gladly show you round, email in profile, the route i do mainly from clayton vale is about 35miles give or take with very little tarmac involved, and dont worry about pace, i am no racing god :)

    where are you coming from?
i live 5 mins from the velodrome, from my house straight into clayton vale (where british cycling are doing some fun races) onto medlock valley, daisy nook/park bridge, upto harthead pike and youve got mossley and the peaks ahead, left over to greenfield, marsden etc or loop round to the south pennines or go right for glossop and the peaks.
Drop me a mail if you want anything when you get your bike sorted

RDL, i regularly take folks out in the dark peak. Let me know if you're in the area and I'll show you around.

Might do just that, work permanent nights so will need to see where i'm at

    another vote for mytracks.

Also worth investigating is an app called 'trekbuddy' not good enough as a logger for stats compared to mytracks but you can make/import os25k maps to it and get real time position and tracking with the ability to add gpx tracks to follow and again its free, the only thing to note is that its a pain to get the os maps done right but there are plenty of guides on the apps website

EDIT http://www.trekbuddy.net (code not working on phone for some reason)

Wow, great prices Anyone run a Superlight as a trail bike with 120mm forks, or is it a bit steep still?

was thinking along these lines myself, so would be interested to hear

Hi, i hve never raced before either, and am really interested in this event as it is literally 10mins from my door, not managed to get to the first two due to working lates, and will miss the next one aswell due to work, gutted:(

Anyway whats it like, is it a good fun atmosphere or full of 1000yards serious stares?
How was the course? i ride in there alot when i have an hour to kill or on the way to a bigger ride, did they keep the course inside the Clayton Vale part of the valley (Medlock) or venture out of it aswell.

Whats the link for Facebook, having a dim moment and cant seem to find it.

fair enough, pitty the os map contradicts the case on the ground.

Anywhere i can keep my eye on for the new bridleway status/updates etc, not from the area but its a nice ride from where i live and would be keen to see how it goes.

well if in doubt, go and find out. Trails has signs all over the place stating 'Pennine Bridleway Interim Walkers Route'. Went and had a look anyway and it was not worth it tbh, mainly farm land with access rights, however about halfway you hit a gate with some double track after, which feeds in from elsewhere and had signs of plenty of bike use, so will come that way next time.

Still makes me wonder though, whats the point of a Pennine Bridleway route just for walkers, whats wrong with the Pennine Way the greedy sods.

Was a good ride still, which is the main thing :)

cheeky little bump, just in case anyone else is about tgat might be able to shed some light on the PBW Walkers route and whether it can be rode on :D

cheers 'MT' will look over the map at home later, time allowing may push on and try that, got to be back by 11am, gives me 3-4hrs but dont want to get to carried away.

poisonspider – thats exactly what i thought, just wondering if i've misread the map, and therefore if anyone has rode it and could comment, will have map with me so if i should get stopped will just show it.

MT – so would that be heading over towards Langsett and coming back which way? At work so not got map to hand

    Cheers

what size would i require ?

Well might not be totally rellevent as i havent checked the dimensions of the two bikes but i ride a 09 Genesis IO 19" and i'm 6'2" with a 34" inside leg have a 70mm stem and 350mm seatpost with about 20cm showing and find it perfect.

on-one 456 ss running a pike at more often than not 120mm with 20mm spacers a thomson 0deg stem and low rise bars 0.25 or 0.50inch which ever is the lowest size raceface do, cant remember, and it has made the bike more comfortable imo from previous which was a 6deg stem and some 40mm risers everything else the same. I m 6.2 and ride an 18 for a bit more numbers, wouldnt change back, and cant say i have anymore difficulty lifting the front as someone mentioned

well its taken us a while to get our lot to change after constant pestering, i guess wheelies just make it easy for the company, get moaning at them, this is our 5th or 6th one but we got there in the end

@ Surfr not sure on that one as my original c2w was done with wheelies, you picked a bike online told them and they sent it, but this time it is going with Cyclescheme, so who knows, suppose i will find out soon enough, unless anyone on here actually runs the scheme at their work and knows

ok the price is apparently £43 for the Polar Bluetooth Heartrate monitor as supplied with the Nokia N79 sports version, and can be obtained by phoning 01926 310330.

Googling this number confirms it is for Polar UK.

The info has come from this thread HR Monitor
now the guyhas only one post so make what you want of it, but worth looking into if you really want the heart rate function.

the new version is looking good, shows promise, the only negative i've found so far is it no longer supports routes, i used to have my commute set as a route to compare times etc and these failed to import and the option is missing, hopefully it will return.

As for the Polar heart rate monitor, apparently you can get it from Polar direct if you ring and is about £48 of the top of my head, i'm on my phone at the minute, and the link/details are on the computer, will post the link later if anyones interested, i'm skint at the moment so have'nt tried ringing.

had two both my little girls names, one down each side of my torso so down the ribs, the first one on the right side honestly didnt hurt just mildly annoying with the vibrations on the ribs, however the second one done on the left side was a different matter, considerably uncomfortable, not painful as such but not far off at times.

Not the biggest help i suppose but what i'm trying to say is it really does depend, one persons pain is anothers pleasure, me, i'm already planning my next one :)

look like i'll give these a miss then, suspected they where gonna be heavy but never seen them in the flesh, just didnt think that heavy.
More a case of not wanting to miss a bargin, green eyed monster playing with the bank card time !

They will be showing up on ebay soon if anyone else is interested, but couldnt say how much.

    Cheers for the input people.

cheers Pedalhead would really appreciate that if its not too much trouble.

worst case scenario ride them for six months and either sell or rebuild.

well i'm about 180ish lbs kitted up so a bit lighter than you, its just a case of them being very cheap, wouldnt want to sell them on to be fair as this is a price for me only as a mate, one thing i am thinking is get tham see how it goes and maybe have them re-rimmed, the problem then is how much is that likely to cost.

@ Burls72 roughly how heavy would you say they come up at with tyres as tbh with the halos and high rools i'm running now i'm lokking at 3000g+ at an estimate.
