    So I am running an SLX double and am toying with the idea of going 1×10, narrow/wide and clutch. I don’t want the hassle of swapping out my SLX cranks.

    Based on the above thread it seems that 32T is a challenge, however possible with spacers run to offset the ring so the chain misses the tabs (effectively mimicking what RF have done with their 30T).

    Has anyone done this and if so what thickness spacers are required?

    Also has anyone tried a 33T without spacing (an who makes a 33T narrow/wide ring)?

    Finally who aside from RF makes a narrow/wide?

    Thanks.

    One song I will love all my life.

    And this one in memory of a departed friend snatched from the earth long before he should have been;

    No longer mine but was a itch that had to be scratched a few years ago. Loved this bike.

    Looked myself over the last week. That was the best I could find. Even used ones are getting near that on fleabay. It was a fiver more at the same place past week so ordered at £195.

    If you can be bothered to build your bike from classifieds (STW/Pinkbike/RideIO)/ebay rather than buy a complete there’s a lot of options, especially if you have a few bits you can swap from your current bike and upgrade later.

    I’ve recently rebuilt my bike and for under £1K sourced an immaculate 09 Turner 5 Spot (with an angleset included), 2010 RS Revs Dual Air forks, brand new 2×10 SLX group with brakes (Merlin). Wheels, saddle, post, pedals, bars and stem off my old bike, but shop around and there are some great deals for these parts too (these include used parts I’ve bought excellent condition Sun Rims on Pro 2’s for c£120, Hope stem £40, HiLo dropper £85 etc plus hunted around for good deals on bars, saddle etc).

    Original Flite Ti if you can get one. Only saddle I have had on par for Gobi comfort but a bit more basic. Last ages too.

    Recently bought full SLX group from Merlin. Again great service, all parts bar the brakes individually packaged in proper Shimano boxes so no OEM stuff. Brakes were in bags, discs in proper boxes.
