Pricey wherever you are. We moved back to Plymouth 4 yrs ago and rented whilst we decided if it was for us. Some properties in s devon were going within 3-4 hrs of going on rightmove.

If you have a pet expect to pay a higher deposit.

All along the s cost of devon will be high to very high. Salcombe used to have the most expensive postcode in uk. Recently had thay ‘crown’ taken by sand banks i think…

I was given some silver cufflinks set with some semi precious stones. Wasnt bothered at the time, but wear them to all big occassions now and appreciate them. If however he isnt in a smart workplace then maybe not?

    Joe,

They offer good vfm, but yea not really in the same ball park. I think a bkur would probably still be too pricey. By the time it has gx and a pike its price has gone stratospheric!

Orange 4 could be a shout, never been sure about orange design though really

Ooh! Whyte s120 sounds interesting. Didnt know about that. The s 150 looks great just might be too much bike for the daily riding around dartmoor.

Ill check out the giant and spesh too, anyone got or tried a jeffsy?

    Cookea,

    No, been busy.

Penis cake was ace!! As for all the sarcastic responses from drac et al. I cant be bothered to reply. I didnt have a great up bringing, and spend most of my parenting time establishing how to improve. Which isnt hard. Anyway, the whole event passed without incident which is best i could hope for.

It was meant as a way to tap into the STW homour vein. Clearly i only got the sanctimous t**ts vein!

Ive got 2 sets of slx. One with finned pads one wothout. Ride the bikes on the same trails day in day out. Cant tell the difference.

Personally prefer non finned pads as brake looks sleeker/less bulky

Definitely! A simple consistent methodology would do no harm at all. I think about posting stuff/for sale items then remember I’m a technical luddit and can’ be arsed!

This thread is good. It makes me reflect on what I have now. 4yr old girl, 2 yr old boy with another boy on the way. Maybe I’ll ride the bike less

Plymouth? Best beaches and coastline in the country.
You can actually go in the sea too.
Got Dartmoor, exmoor close for easy rides, s Wales, BPW, Quantocks all regularly doable in a day.
Plymouth uni, Exeter uni, Falmouth, fx plus and various colleges are available.
House prices are very reasonable as well.
    Just don’t tell everyone!

Is that budget the whole bike or frame only? If frame only you can go really gucci; if complete bike may I throw in pinnacle iroko; great fun, great spec, lovely ride and would come in towards the bottom of that budget

I’ve had spank spikes before; they fit the bill really well. I currently have spank oozys they’re super thin and very large. Well made too, bit pricey though

cheers guys, i’ll take the FS (Whyte T130) I wont have masses of time as I will be driving back down to Plymouth on the Sunday as well. the video makes it look very similar to the stuff i’ve ridden before so comfortable with that.

how long does the red take? at an average pace?

thanks for advice on food, I assume there is a bike wash there? Cant be putting a muddy bike inside the wife’s brand new car!

sooooo ive finally decided which way to jump on this; and ive gone for a……

Pinnacle Iroko 3! it was on the shortlist and having swung a leg over the medium fits very well. It helps that it was in the sale from £1350 down to £1200. I was then able to get for £1100 as I have used my local Evans store for lots recently and they’re really good guys in there.

what do people think of this? Vitus Sentier 29er Exceptional vfm! but I cant help look at the frame and think the geo is all wrong! maybe that’s how 29ers are supposed to look:

Friend of mine had a timing belt go; wrote off engine in his 2010 Audi a3. The bill came to £6.5k! Hopefully no serious damage was caused by timing belt failing; if it has may not be economical to repair.
    Fingers crossed!

having swung a leg over the procaliber 6 that seems like it might be the best bet; brakes are crap; although its an easy upgrade…

    ravingdave

x caliber sounds interesting, the NS eccentric looks lovely, but i’m not entirely convinced on its natural ability’s tackling south downs way double (not a true double, staying overnight at 1 end)
although steel frame may help with compliance…?

The carbon hardtails look great value. As does the pinnacle. Might pop to my local Evans and see what they have in stock

We have had several Peugeot 106, 306, 307 & first gen 308. No major issues in any of those. I did over 125k in those cars. Only repair I can remember was a wheel bearing for the 306. The rest was just standard servicing and consumable replacing. Some of The German stuff we have had. Wow what absolute dog crap! Guess its luck of the drawer…

is it the CVT auto? My brother has an A$ exactly as you describe, and his has the auto, broken twice, 1st time £1750 bill, 2nd time £750 bill. Also lots on autotrader cheap with a gearbox fault, in general avoid the auto of that generation

In true ARE recommend what you own. I have a Genesis Croix De Fer. Excels at the sort of thing you want to do. Reynolds Steel framr and fork keep it comfy too
