i have cruz aero bars, no issues with them, however they are fiddly to fit and the quality it significantly below the thule square bars i had on a previous car.

I also got a cruz bike carrier with them which is appallingly bad and un-safe so we are not using it again!

if you are fitting a thule bike carrier to cruz bars, i found that the thule square slide in feet thingys did not fit inside the cruz slot.

i have a fuel EX, awesome bike, more than enough for my standard of riding (mine is 130mm rear 140mm front) knock block is never an issue, pressfit BB had me thinking/worrying, but the Trek warranty allayed my fears and after over a year of hard riding its not made a single noise

wife hates it, and she is a nurse. virtue signalling ay its finest. would much rather she had some PPE, didnt have to re-use the bits she has and received a pay rise at the very least in line with inflation, along with her colleagues.

trouble is we did ‘the clap’ as our 6 & 4 yr olds wanted to clap mummy

Not sure what you mean johndoe?

In simplistic terms i almost see it as family (current employer 4.5 days in 4) v career with work/life atatus quo, but better personal career prospects and hopefully happier!

Scotroutes, that is a real concern i fear about new place. Is it out of fire into frying pan sort of thing? In areas they are ok, but in many they are terrible.

Should also say i am trying to diversify my job. It is based on uk law derived from eu legislation. Who knows where that is going?! So i am trying to get back into a role i did about 10-12 years ago. New prospectivr employer will actively assist this and has a great programme to build up experience and ultimately becomr chartered. Current firm couldn’t care less about that (although they claim to)

Fossil fuels, ban them now. And single use plastic which would by default happen from banning fossil fuels

He does slow down, put the sound on and you can hear the squeaky brakes, or that could just be his bum!

Also, isnt it the responsibility of the person undertaking the maneouver to ensure where they want to go is clear and they will not obstruct or impede anyone?

I wont consider a bike without a sensible mount for bottle. Ideally a 750ml bottle. Really useful to be able to add some tools, pump, bottle to the bike for a quick spin. Then a camelbak for anything bigger/longer.

I see this as an opportunity for my employer to make a demonstrable step towards the flexible working utopia they keep talking about.

Reality is i will probably end up doing 5 days in 4. I think i am probably doing about 6-6.5 in 5 anyway and this the cycle i want to change. More for more, a payrise is not free in my place!

Some really good points being made here

Good replies, yep the pinnacle certainly doesnt have the best name, underated is never a great word to use when describing a product for sale. Even if true!

and i like the analogy on the credit card too that sums it up well

Hatred of hardtails? Fair enough. I thought everyone loved them 😀 i could easily turn it rigid and miggt do if i can find a good fork with lots of mounting points that fits…

Cheers all, problem is I’m A tinkerer and always looking for ways to tweak and improve, if i kept it. I want to respray, add more bottle cages put some custom graphics on it, increase travel to 130/140mm etc etc etc

I probably can afford to keep it, esp if i can resist the urge to tinker…

Thanks for replies, i think the vagabond has ‘normal’ shifters this year.

Will look at those others as well if its a main stream brand then 0% finance can come into play! ;-)

Had this dilemma a few months ago. Rode lots, looked at loads more. Settled on trek fuel ex8 which this year is 2800 with a great spec amd drivetrain choice (shim or sram)

We had a zafira 1.4t, no issues with car whatsoever, however the 3 car seat wouldnt fit properly (all high back boosters) so we switched to an sMax. Never looked back much better in everyway. Cost us quite a few quid as my wife insisted on staying as small as possible too!

    things are worse,

environment – is absolutely trashed, and is only going to get worse.

Politically – the rise of the right; divisive and hate fueled politics is doing the peace and prosperity we have enjoyed to now no good at all.

Education – worst in living memory
    Police – as above
    Healthcare – as above
    infrastructure – terrible condition

Stability and optimism – probably at an all time low, primarily because of the above.

for comments about having great smart phones and disposable incomes that does make an improved society.

Absokutely report to local authority and also to their health visitor service (simple google) as they have a 2 year old will be covered by HV. They should not be doing drugs around their children.

Also people saying its how people live, not when you are a responsible adult with young children in your care.

I type this on an a5. Wife used to have an s7, couldnt tell the difference between the 2 really, now she has an s9 and the photos on s9 is better, but its screen share function woth smart telly is worse, could just be our telly though. Have to say this phone has been fine. Tough as hell dropped amd cracked front and rear still works. Fell into a lake and sat at the bottom for over 24hrs. It got pulled out posted to me. Turned it on amd its fine! Will keep this until it dies…

I have second the fuel ex. I have an 8. Great spec, was sold out in thr 29er so had to get it in plus, but will be buying 29 wheels later this year. My plan is to have this as my only bike. Riding plans inc, more BPW, some SDW, some big mountains/lakeland riding too

Yea looked at those seem good and good vfm. I think 1st thing is to see if I prefer 650b or 29 wheels, then I can think more about travel and nature of bike. I’m erring towards 29 fs as more different to 650b ht

I had a T130 but sold as feel it is too close to the pinnacle and also to pay for extending my wife’s maternity leave

Yes been wondering about whether best to go what I consider to be really long (160mm+) and use when things get big, but as not often would it be a waste. Argh!

By employment i mean find a suitable job, i know we will be eligible to get a job

Haha! These are good responses! We would aim to be in BC. We have visited there a few times and have friends on vancouver island.

The route that seems to have the fewest unknowns is getting a work visa. The problem with that is gotta get a job from here! And the employer needs to be suitably motivated to employ me (or the misses who is a nurse)

The PR route as an initial application seems to have many more unknowns. The issue i have is applying to live in a country and stating your province preference whilst having no idea if we can get employment…
