an alternate view. been with them over 10 years. Wife came onto my account a few years ago as we got a great deal. never had any issues with them in this time, get some cracking money deals as a result of being with them for so long. we have 2 Galaxy S6 edges, got them for 10% than leading open market contracts. really surprised the score is so low! might have to go an review to balance things up.
ravingdaveFull MemberIn,
I work as a construction consultant. The number of construction regeneration projects that have come about thanks to EU funding regenerating areas of the country that our own government cant be bothered with is staggering and the benefit that they bring to these local communities is immeasurable.
leaving would be a financial disaster for the UK; particularly the areas that aren’t in the SE where the gov. seem to think the UK stops.
the EU is not without its problems, but what in life is perfect? the proposals they put in place are at least considered for the ‘greater good’
ravingdaveFull Memberhi,
rode both Aeris and T130s. brought the T130. not regretted it one bit. T130s perfectly suited the riding I do. general trail riding and trail centres
ravingdaveFull Member650b and 29″ here. got keep it current!
did notice quite a difference between my old 26 and new 650b; but imagine some of that was down to fresher geo rather than anything
ravingdaveFull MemberOP, you need a chartered building surveyor. find a few local firms who are RICS accredited with RICS charted building surveyors present. They will be able to come out and give actual practical advice after seeing your property. A day of their time and a report will probably be between £400 – 750 (depending on your location, local market etc)
they will be independent and have to follow a code of ethics laid down by RICS so will not be peddling a product that you don’t want or need
ravingdaveFull MemberIt’s painful setting the alarm for 6 something. The same as a work day. But it keeps me sane. Find the time somewhere/somehow. LBS’S often do a weekly ride on a weekday evening or something try to join that. My other half really struggles with me riding and that is my main challenge to overcome.
ravingdaveFull MemberSounds like you are in a similar position to me. I have a 2 yr old and a 10 week old. Family stuff takes priority so I make time around that for a ride. On new years Eve I was up on dartmoor at 8am riding whilst sun came up. Lovely. I see it that if I want to order do my hobby then I have to make time outside family time. It is difficult balancing everything though…
ravingdaveFull MemberScott,
my sincere condolences. I know what you are going through. I buried my father on Wednesday who died of a massive stroke at 70. His end of life treatment was pretty much exactly as you describe. speak to a Doctor and get them to ensure that they are doing everything they can to make her comfortable and not in distress. try and also get a side room (if you aren’t in one already) so you can have some privacy in the last few hours and days. in a way an ending like this can be a blessing as you can ‘prepare’ and say your goodbyes
thoughts with you at this difficult time
DaveravingdaveFull Membersuper thank guys.
I had found mtbsharp.co.uk but not sure when it was last updated and the routes on their seemed to just open up some weird code…
ravingdaveFull Membercan you download other peoples routes onto View Ranger?
cheers
DaveravingdaveFull MemberI will need turn by turn.
my knowledge of Dartmoor and any other places round here will be minimal.
I will download that viewranger and see what it is about.
cheersravingdaveFull Membernutty
never used them, heard they might have some financial trouble but that is just a rumour. I live fairly close, as in I live in Plymouth too. could try and pop in for you?
ravingdaveFull MemberIt’s about compliance with the occupiers Liability Act 1984. Where owners, occupiers of buildings/land have duty of care to visitors and uninvited guests. that’s why trails are waymarked with clear signage about the difficulty and say things like for competent mtber’s only wear a helmet/body armour use a good quality MTB (as appropriate for the trail) this is usually considered sufficient to cover off the duty under OLA 1984. as those trails do not appear to sanctioned or official in any way; they have been closed.
doesn’t mean the local MTB community cannot lobby for official graded, marked and sign jump trails to be opened; but land owners are (rightly) nervous about this sort of thing.
ravingdaveFull Memberfair one; I was thinking if I had them pay for proof of postage and adequate insurance that could be countered, but instinct makes me nervous. the internet really is a s**t place!
ravingdaveFull MemberI have been desperately waiting for the rocket to return I regret not getting one when the 26″ was available; but now with the rise of other internet options, as well as the Bird Aeris which can be demo’d. the Rocket seems expensive. an entry level Aeris BIKE can be brought for £195 more than this frame. which is why I am demoing an Aeris on Monday! I really want to want a rocket, but the cost just seems to excessive when you consider, travel, strength, warranty, geometry are the things that matter…
ravingdaveFull Memberright i’m convinced!
I will phone On One and get it added to my order and make sure to ask that they include all the words so I have a fighting chance of knowing what’s going on.
cheers all
ravingdaveFull Memberthanks Chris,
I’m not great with suspension and as its an online purchase no local shops will be ‘keen’ to help out. does it come with a comprehensive manual to assist the idiot?
ravingdaveFull Membercheers guys, is it a worthwhile upgrade? the ability to play with knobs(tee hee!) could well end up making me ruin the bike rather than benefiting me!
ravingdaveFull MemberThanks konanige I will do some measurements tonight. Interesting it fits you, is that with a reverb?
ravingdaveFull MemberDid a similar thing with Mrs ravingdave a few years ago; except we included eastern Alberta.
the sea to sky highway is simply stunning (from Vancouver to whistler) and is a must drive; never seen anything like it. As is highway 93 (icefield parkway) from Banff to Jasper – but that’s in Alberta.
weather in October could be tricky for sights – they might all be covered by cloud, rain or snow! the summer months would be best – although as an alternative late august/early September would be great as the leaves will be changing and all the animals out ready for hibernation/winter.get onto Vancouver island its beautiful and as 13thfloormonk said, got some great beaches and seascapes. Victoria is a great town.
Kelowna is lovely as well in Okanagan valley; less extreme countryside but gorgeous on the side of Okanangan lake (great wine too)
one word of warning; if you haven’t been before; do not underestimate the size of the country! Vancouver island is almost the size of the UK, but looks tiny on the map and take over 9hrs drive the length of.
hope this help
DaveravingdaveFull Membermy bikes grow ‘organically’ by that I mean I purchase a new component to replace and old worn or broken onw; usually an upgrade is incorporated. I have done all of these and noticed a change to them all.
key difference my QR fork flexed so much my rotor scrapped the fork leg. didn’t happen on QR15!ravingdaveFull MemberGot one as any entry into 29ers as I wasn’t sure and also wanted a commute bike for my off road route to work.
In short I love it and often take it out over my SC Heckler.
great over long distances and very comfortable and rips on singletrack.problems for me are: only 2 frame sizes (I got 18″ and it can feel a little large sometimes
the fork needs regular TLC or it throws a hissy fit, and the pressures I run are a lot lower than other forks to get full travel.
the gears are rubbish, but I upgraded to full SLX so its no longer a problem.I think I must have now racked up over 500 miles of off road riding on mine and its still looks good and feels great
ravingdaveFull Member650b THE most pointless invention ever. Ridden a few feel just like 26ers!! Marketing spin to sell more bikes…
ravingdaveFull MemberHi Jeron
Thanks for the message. I’ll get the forks on my bike and see how I go
Thanks
DaveravingdaveFull Memberchakaping,
many thanks I get it now… i’ll see how I get on with the new forks fitted and may try those if im not happy…
ravingdaveFull Memberchakaping,
offset bushing? what are they!? forgive my ignorance…
ravingdaveFull Memberyea fork is an upgrade without a doubt. never had an issue with the BB being high on the old forks. still get a lot of pedal strikes! the travel adjust down to 120 was never something I used to use; as at 150 it climbed fine, but now with a higher front end on the new forks I might use it more.
my old fork as a 44, which they don’t make anymore, the nearest wheelsize (don’t you just love 650b!) and travel equivalent is a much lower spec’d 55 which would need to be opened up and a spacer installed. so an equivalent spec’d 55 has 10mm more travel;
im looking forward to it and it sounds like it shouldn’t be a problem
ravingdaveFull Memberi think they offered me an equivalent fork spec wise. so mine had travel adjust and a few other features and they’re trying to match that. they do make a 170mm travel fork which can spacered down to 150mm, but the spec is lower than what I have enjoyed lately so I guess that’s why it was offered.
I run a SC heckler yeah did realise I could take 160mm fork. the new one is travel adjust down to 120 which should make climbs and really twisty stuff that bit easier
