The landowner will enforce via ‘game keepers’ or they will charge the national park authority ‘costs’ to permit the gen pop access which will be exorbitant to the NPA and will rise in time

I’m local to this and it is so disappointing. Ultimately this just comes down to money. Darwall will allow the same acces we have enjoyed, but just expect some ‘compensation’ from the state for it. Adding to its land value when he sells it on, and diminishing our rights

Ignore my post now I’ve read and watch some of that video it is obviously a rip off. When I said ethically I was thinking more from an employee (slave?) Well being/renumeration perspective. Didn’t realise IP had been taken so blatantly, nor did I realise they were from China.

I’ve removed from list of prospective brakes. God modern shopping is a minefield these days!!!

I genuinely need new brakes, they look like a rip off of Trickstuff. Is there any proof (circumstantial or otherwise) that they are made unethically as that is a big issue for me

Yea water could be a problem. I have a 3l back pack bladder, but only 1 frame mount. Might get those widgets that fix to frames/forks to act as bottle mounts.

I also don’t have pannier mounts so will do some dummy fits of the bags I have and stuff ive got.

I have a pillow and a spork already. What easy packable, low water required food do you take?

Can anyone recommend a good YouTube channel to follow?

    Hi urbanhiker,

I would go for an option you are happy with. Agreed surveyor is a very common route I have operated under several times. The surveyor is still meant to be impartial. The award (whether by agreed or 2 surveyors) will protect your property and set out working methods, working times, hand dig areas etc. It will also append an independent SoC to record condition before works began.

Based on your description of the notice I would say that your n4 option is the appointment of either their surveyor as agreed surveyor or your own surveyor and enter appropriate details

I have been a party wall surveyor.

Firstly, as they are the ‘building owner’ under the act as they are doing the works. You are the ‘adjoining owner” under thr act as your property is affected by the works.

Secondly, under the act neither owner is allowed to act as a surveyor as they are not impartial. Any SoC you undertake isn’t worth the paper it’s written even if you have the best surveying letters after your name.

Thirdly as they are undertaking the works they have to:

1.appoint a surveyor under the act to serve notice of the works onto you

    You can then:

    A:Consent to the works

B: dissent to the works and have their surveyor act as agreed surveyor

C: appoint your own surveyor (who is paid for by the building owner NOT you.

If you take B or C then a party wall award will be prepared by the surveyor(s) which will include an SoC

Go down the proper route, seen it go wrong loads of times before!!!

Surely this situation is exactly why car insurance premiums are higher for cars parked on road v those parked on drove or in garage to cover this exact sort of thing; as well as others such as increased risk of theft etc

    ravingdave

Difficult one, but I would not pay if:

Car was badly parked e.g. on pavement, riggt up to junctions, driveways etc.

Car could be on driveway to prevent damage but wasn’t. He clearly doesn’t care that much about car if he cannot be bothered to use drive.

As I have no legal obligation to, and he seems like a d**k then I would be one as well!! :-)

Thanks, texwade That’s really helpful. Will do more research in s431.

I imagine if I am given the entire (hypothetical) 10%, then there would be an even larger tax bill? Which would be tax (and NI?) So would we looking at 20% tax and 13.5% employer NI?

I guess that the s431 will protect against additional an increase in tax against the original amount so if share rise in value the tax does not?

Thanks guys, that is useful. I got a brand x post. I’m not sure if that matters for using a twinloc or similar system. I will look to see if they are easily affordable. Although my preference is to just fit these and leave the lock out alone if i can, like the pic above. Not sure if my hands will allow that though

Oh man! I loved CRC. As far as i was concerned, they were my LBS. Lots of great advice when added, huge choice, excellent prices. Nothing comes (came) close to.

I used to use Evans a lot, but after Mike Ashley got his claws in they went seriously downhill.

On a practical, i was about to buy a brand-x dropper post. Is it possible to buy? Will i reveive it? Will Mike Ashley get my money? How does it work now; if at all?

Good point about other tourists. I have not been to lakes in over 10yrs and before kids and that would’ve been outside holiday times.

I want to see some big hills/’proper mountains’ as the kids put it, is Snowdonia Wales quieter that time of year?

I’m getting the vibe though that your wife just isn’t that keen and looking for reasons not to go.

I agree, she isnt keen. I want a bit of difference rather than the same places every year. The kids are keen for an adventure too. We have looked at glamping pods, but we are a 5 and havent found a decent supply to sleep 5 most are 2 or 4

People dont use PHEV’s properly. Autoexpress clearly arent driving that 508 correctly and never charge it up.

I have a mazda CX60 PHEV (not the OP’s target car) it gets over 60mpg and does loads and loads of long journeys. This week over 1000 motorway miles, last week 600 and it is a 2.5 petrol.

As for performance estates surely an oxymoron!get a nice car sure, but dont bother with the massive engine, estates handle like crap compared to priper performance cars

This is such a shame to hear about. Been thinking of getting a new frame and finally have the money. I expect i’ll give fairlight a pass now. In this market surely they cannot afford to get something so basic wrong?

Putting blocks on PED’s is only a part of the solution. Most children see inappropriate materials via social media accounts.

Accounts that know the receiver/sender is a child but still lets the adult material to be issued or received. Unless the parent personally bans social media for their PED how os the SM company not at fault!

Social media companys must be cracked down on much harder for allowing the inappropriate material to spread. No matter the cost to them.

Blaming parents of children who have committed suicide is just massively wrong. Children (just like adults) can be very hard to unpick with the added confusion/lack of clarity of a childs mind. A parent can be fully engaging but still not be able to see the full picture. Messages can be sent, received and deleted but the contents seen, read and absorbed, with little ‘evidence’ left for the parent to review and understand whats going on

If you want it clean and looking ncir, dont get black. We had 2 black cars and hated them
Now, I only have 1, theu get dirty straight away and show up EVERY LITTLE mark.

I would avoid at all costs, esp if it needs to be kept in good nic

After Orange whos next? – no one hopefully.

I have an ageing Trek. It desperately needs lots of work and is currently unrideable, but dont even have the casj to fix it up, let alone buy a stunning new bike. If you are fortunate enough to be considering a new bike, have a good look at UK based firms; we will mias them when theyre gone.

Hardly suprising its only UK based firms are going into administration -**** brexit and all who sail in her

    Terrible news!

I really hope they pull through with as many/all jobs secure. I have owned 2 oranges before and often look at their website when considering new, but havent had a new bike in 6 years.

Bit disappointed by the negativity on this thread. The employees will be going to be wondering how to pay the mortgage/rent and feed the family

The shift is fine, but there is quite a bit of chain slap considering its got a clutch and the shifter has quite a lot of ‘play’ was a bit disappointed as most ppl seem to prefer shimano to sram, but my GX (Admittedly more like xt spec) has been perfect for years

    ravingdave
    Full Member

Ive got one, a medium. Rides lovely, but finding grips/bar gives wrist ache.
Need to play with set up/ buy new. Rides really nicely. Gears feel a little sloppy the deore doesnt shift as well as the GX on my other bike. Mine came with sram db8s rather than the shimano offering was concerned as dont have a good history of avid/sram but theyve been excellent so far

Toying with adding a dropper post to improve trail performance. I think mine weighs close to the correct published weight

    I’ve had 2.

Both have had minor snag issues, but they all get sorted by the developer (if larger one). Overall, they have been great. The build quality is often better than old houses that have been ‘improved’ over the years and so many have fewer issues to worry about. The quality of tjose house was far higher than the 70’s one we owned and that encouraged us into new builds so we didnt have to think about it!

The downsides of new builds is not the build quality but parking, garden/plot size and overlooking however these can often be fixed by picking the plot carefully

Been enjoying mine. Finding the grips/bars uncomfortable but £££ been a bit tight due to lots of birthdays so not replaced yet.

Too much sweep on the bar for my liking. Rest of bike feels great and the sram DB8 are excellent, really suprising as i dont like sram brakes.

It is routed for a dropper post so will add 1 amd see what it does for riding.

The clutch on the deore gears seems weal as i get a bit of noise, could be internal cable rattling or chain slap, not sure whi ch
