cheers both, looking like the lowrider may be the way to go.

good point on the trailer not being seen. already invisible to a lot of drivers as soon as you jump on a bike.

    any other suggestions welcome

Head over to Stanmer park. There are loads of trails there, the roots will be sketchy in the wet but the trails will ride just fine.

Just changed to Conti Trail King Protection front and back. Really good on the local dry forest trails, and perhaps even better on a trip to the wet rocky trails of SW scotland just now. Tough and pretty light weight, set up tubeless on stans flows easily. For me much better than sketchy no grip area on high rollers I was running previously

Mio fuse does steps and calories but also has heart rate monitor built in so no need for a chest strap.
Had mine just over a week and impressed with it. Doesn’t measure sleep but the HRM is more useful for me.
Also connects via Bluetooth and ANT+ so will work with your phone and or bike computer at the same time

MW80s work perfect for me. Warm dry feet with standard socks, no need for winter socks.

Any up to date info? I’m in the area with my new bike and really hope to get a good ride in – the only saving grace about visiting the inlaws!

I use http://bikeroutetoaster.com/ you can upload your GPX files, see them on maps and edit / create new routes to dowload on to your GPS for navigating.

Not sure if your unit can be used for navigaiton or is just a log but wither way you will get distance, height and profile info on the website (on summary tab) to inform your ride. Sign up (free) and you can save your routes on line too.

has anyone tried the Topeak defender M1? looks similar to the Shockblade but has flexible edges which might make it resist impacts, not that I ever crash… 😉

Bought some yesterday from cycle surgery in store for £119 – cheaper than their internet price of £149. Could be worth ordering by phone if you can’t get to a shop

As others have said be careful on sizing – they’re narrow. I take a 9 trainer, 10 spesh summer cycle shoe, and ended up with a 47 (size 12!) in the MW80 to give some room for thicker socks. At least I won’t fall over wearing them 🙂

Am out riding tonight so won’t get to see your ad – what condition are they in and how much are you putting them on for?

    Thanks

Craggyjim, thanks for the confirmation. Just tried a size 10 northwave shoe in LBS and it was snug so reckon 9.5 will be too small.

For info on sizing, I’m normally a size 9 and based on the fitting today I’d go for 10.5 to allow room for thicker socks if needed.

craggyjim, are the boots you’re selling a size 9? If they’re bigger I am interested.

YoKaiser, just got this with my new torch and magicshine – v impressed with the lights but the velcro on the mounting isn’t long enough for my vent positions. Thinking of sending back or bodging – how long is yours ooh-er?

I’ve never done any night riding but these sound like great endorsements and a cheap way to try it out.

There are two on DX, the obvious difference being the inclusion of the headband (which I don’t really need) but also the emitters are different, one cree, the other SCC. Does this make a difference, which should I go for?

If I was to back it up with a head torch, any suggestions?
    Cheers
