I did almost go for these but was put off by a few unknowns

Do you get stung by import duties again if you need to return or claim on warranty?

From what I could work out its the price on the website +6% import fees + delivery +courier admin + 20% vat. so £400 turns into ~£530?

I think your still covered by your credit card if they fail to turn up etc

Thanks bought one, have been on the look out for a fork, going in with my eyes open I might not have a warranty and used a credit card

    I don’t think he’s saying anything contentious

Debt is cheaper than equity and stakeholders happy with growth over cash generation leads to stuff like this when the cold wind blows.

The brand can sometimes be the only thing that survives so there’s plenty of lifting and shifting and asset moving with suppliers and the tax man left with the problem

Thanks for the PSA, bought the cheaper one just before it went out of stock, will see how I like emtb only concern is the fork

My garmin watch decides how productive it is based how much time you spend in HR zones. Mine would set the HR zones based on the HR Max it detects. I had to turn the auto detect Max HR off as my sensor sometimes went crazy in the first few mins. It would think a hard 5k was zone 2.

I’d look at your zones and set them accordingly, maybe change to % of HRR or % of lactate whatver fits better for you.

Thanks for the input, looks like spending most of the money on the smart turbo is the consensus. The watt bike looks nice but out of budget for whats availble now.

Going to go for the kickr and https://www.halfords.com/bikes/road-bikes/carrera-virtuoso-mens-road-bike-2020—white—s-m-l-frames-348270.html which is the cheapest I can find in stock with normal shifters a bit more range than the decathlon one.

I have a hrm so I think I just need the dongle, a big fan and maybe a cadence sensor.

I have a low hr max for my age but knowning it doesn’t really tell you anything medical as it differs from person to person. Its useful for training zones to target base building etc

I’m not sure what going to your gp would do but I doubt they’ll do much unless you have some symptons that give them a reason to investigate

I have a yakima highroad which holds on the wheels, doesn’t look like it will take longer wheelbases though

I bought a replacement damper and went back to grease. The damper is a sealed unit and unservicable. If you drill a hole the damper stops working and I didnt know of a way to repressureise it.

+1 for using long sealskinz underneath whatever you choose. I have the decathlon ones but the sealskinz are what keep your feet warm and dry

The Magic Mary/Hans Damph might be a bit overkill for the xc path type stuff. The tyres that come with the standard Bizango are Ardents only in tread pattern really, they’re not tubeless ready and have the cheapest casing.

I don’t think it is fair to put Canyon in the same category as YT for service they seem to have processes/systems that work. You could buy a canyon today and have it before Christmas.

Maybe I would of stuck with my YT order if their dispatch times were more realistic, it was pretty infuriating being told the delays were because of a lockdown in germany when Canyon were offering 48hour deliveries at the same time.

    Pretty poor experience as well

I ordered an Izzo estimated date 30 Sep20 came and went, had one email about a delay and that it would be shipped mid oct, that came and went. Emails to the main yt service took 3 weeks to get a response.

The delays made me read up a bit more and there are plenty of upset people with warranty issues so I switched to a neuron which took 4 days to arrive. Took yt 4 weeks to refund my credit card from me asking for it to be cancelled.

Hope they get it sorted, nice looking bikes.

The premium stuff seems to be getting silly, there is still value at the other end:

    e.g. carbon/fox factory trail bikes ~£3.5k

I’ve ordered an izzo. yt delayed the order a month ago band said they would refund some of the delivery cost and haven’t.

I asked them to remove their fidlock bottle off the order as there were some reports it rattles and they took 3weeks to respond and I’ve not had anything refunded yet.

I take it they are going through a particularly bad patch as they can’t always be like this.

Considering cancelling and going for a aether9c.

I went there a couple weeks ago, the dog was all open. There is a section on the monkey called the original monkey which has been closed for a long time but even with this diversion overall it still has a good ratio single track to fireroad, final 3 descents were all open.

I’m looking at similar bikes, I’ve tried to arrange a test ride of the Izzo but they have no phone number and I’ve not been getting responses from their email/facebook messages.

I will probably end up with a canyon/yt as without riding I’m judging them on component spec

Not really at that level but I was looking for 1 litre of shimano brake oil which is out of stock everywhere except on ebay where people are bottling it in small amounts at a much higher £/l.

Shares have risk/reward so not the same thing. The unwitting people who have bought that bike aren’t really getting anything.

I think the damper may be orientated the wrong way to run open bath. The hole would be near the very top of the fork?

    f

I will have a go at drilling the existing damper in the hopes of staying on oil but I’ve bought a replacement and will go back to grease if I I end up breaking it.

When I say it reduces travel there is always 20mil of stanchion visible no matter how hard you press down on the fork (the picture in the first post is after a ride around cannock and you can sort of see that it never touches the top parts).

I used 20ml of Fox 20wt in each leg. I took the lowers off when I noticed the reduced travel, there was almost no oil left in the damper side.

It’s definitely the damper that is restricting travel I took it out and it even makes a wierd sloshy noise when you move it quickly, theres no resitance on the airspring side.

I’m pretty sure I need a new damper but I’d like to keep it on oil as it’s much improved over small bumps. I can’t really find any info on putting a better damper in there or if I buy the same one again will the same thing happen.
