OP here – TBF it’s going as I thought it might. I’m not even sure I would pay for it! Maybe only if was a good price, but that’s not going to be good enough to make a decent living from.

It was worth gauging responses to see if there was any demand – seems like an emphatic ‘non’ 🤣

IHN – there’s obvs a sliding scale of filth. I get what you’re saying and it’s def valid but when it’s caked-on clay shite it’s not really a quick job. Interested in all viewpoints – that’s the point of the thread 😉

That’s the opposite end of the scale – more than I’ll ever need ;-)

    I feel your pain.

We had to have the best cat in the world put to sleep in October. We had Fudge for 10 years and was a full-on family member and it hurt like hell. Watched a vid of him scoffing some treats earlier which brought a lump to my throat. Miss him everyday but it does get easier.

Holding steady here – Guinness 0% is helping though I only have a couple at a time a few days a week as I find that’s enough.

I think it’s the taste of beers that I like rather than the need to get pissed. I haven’t done a night out in Jan and that’s the thing I’ve found I’ve missed – the social aspect and meeting friends there. Dry Jan means not having a Fri or Sat night out to look forward to – def been a bit more of a social hermit though I will def be out a week on Friday!

Also plan on drinking less in the house as my only dry days were Mon and Tues! 😬

Society of the Snow – epic! Really brings the horror of what they went through across in a powerful way. Gripping all the way through – as mentioned above – the families being present when they got off the choppers was unlikely surely…

Snapped collar bone in a roadie crash 5 years ago was a bastard.
Ruptured Achilles at a gig 10 years ago wasn’t great either – now paying for not doing my physio properly at he time too.

Race to the Summit on Netflix is good – about ascent speed records for 2 rival Alpinists.

Not sure if ‘inspiring’ is the right word, but ‘Downhill’ is a great film about 4 blokes of a certain age doing the C2C walk (fair bit in the Lakes) – shot in a pseudo-documentary style. Sometimes funny, sometimes poignant but ultimately it makes you feel good and prob want to walk the C2C. Not sure where you can watch it, but very much worth it if you do.

Race to the Summit – a documentary on the rivalry between 2 Alpinist climbers, Ueli Steck and Dani Arnold. A lot of subtitles but gripping (pun intended) to watch 🫣

As others have said – up Llanberis path because a good chunk of it is rideable. Down Rangers if you like it steep with lots of rocks! Llanberis down will be fast but feels like a cheap way of losing your hard-earned height to me – over too soon, plus there will possibly still be a few walkers around that’ll compromise your speed. Don’t forget the bike curfew that’s in place between May 1 til the end of Sept (IIRC).

I even had a Guinness 0% after the ride last night instead of the usual double Charnwood Vixen as per normal.

Just poured a can of it – finding it quite palatable and not really missing the bit that makes you pissed – yet!

We sold a 59 plate Kia Ceed auto yesterday with 90k on the clock for £600. We’d had it 12 years and recently MOTd/serviced – never had any issues with it. Very clean inside but a minor scrape plus keying damage on the outside which the buyer wasn’t bothered about. Sold to a friend so never advertised.

OP here. Pulled the gear cable out and had a play. Turns out there’s a really thin length of housing just under the hood that the cable slides though. The cable was fine but the housing was chewed up so I cut 20mm off and reinstalled the cable. Job jobbed.

3 of us stayed with Rider’s Refuge last July. Picked up from Geneva airport. Staff were great, food was good and plentiful but the place with a bit tired and the bike ‘facilities’ were pretty non-existent TBH. Security left a lot to be desired. Having said all that it was not expensive. MTB Beds 5 years ago was a much better set up for bikers though IMHO.

    Week 1 complete!

Def noticed more snacking going. I wanted something other than juice/squash/milk/tea and coffee and have been thinking about non-alcoholic beer quite a bit today, so went out and bought a 4 pack of Guinness 0%. I was really looking forward to having a couple tonight…cracked the first one open, pulled a face…def not like ‘proper’ Guinness but it wasn’t that bad. Bizarrely, it still felt a bit naughty. Just the one, and some orangey tea thing later which wasn’t hideous but great either. The first week/weekend is the hardest so plain sailing from here on in! 🍺

Bike-wise, a long weekend in Inners in June with the Fathomer shreddin’ crew 😉 – that’s it so far. Something in the van in the UK with the good lady at some other point (though the bike might make it into the van when she’s not looking)

Anyone who’s been to the Nant Francon valley will prob have a vague idea of where Alan’s TV house is…as you pass the Glyders on your left and Llyn Ogwen on the right, the road turns right, heading down into Bethesda just between Pen y Ole Wen on the right and Y Gran on the left…the house will be on the LH of the valley within 1/2 mile of that turn..I Googled it a few days ago. There are plenty of clues in the programme but Hayley Cropper painting outside the house was the clincher!

Leicestershite is exactly that for good riding. ‘Cheeky’ is available locally but not very inspiring and a total swamp ATM. Nearest decent riding is Cannock off-piste and the Peak but they’re 45 and 6o miles away so driving needed. We did a trip up to Wharncliffe last week which was a 132 mile round trip to do a winch and plummet 13 mile fun session, which is a bonkers return for the travelling involved. We do a few Snowdonia/Long Mynd/Lakes/Golfie trips a year too but they are all multiple ride events so ‘worth’ it. Would love some good decent tech/lumpy rides from the door but you can’t easily alter where you live…
