    Thanks aberdeenlune.
Ever heard of The Sports Creed? They have the stadium in the right size for £63 but never heard of them so reluctant to pull the trigger.

Thanks all – that clears the mystery up nicely.

This ticks some of the boxes. The Hope branding might not be for everyone but is the jacket any good?

I went from 2 pot XT to 4 pot Hope V4. I quite liked to XTs til there was a leaky lever issue. The difference was ‘noticeable’ to say the least ?. Almost too much for the bike and the riding I do. I also run E4s with 200mm rotors F&R on a bigger bike which are less powerful than the V4 but still plenty powerful enough. If you can afford them, get E4s.

Gooner – I ran a Troutie Liberator which I loved – the battery wasn’t holding charge so I sent it to Smudge at MTBatteries so he could look at it…unfortunately I also boxed up the head unit – Yodel admitted they sent it to the wrong place and I never saw it again.

Gooner – would that be a Troutie light? I had one but those utter **** at Yodel lost mine last year

Bit of an update – OP here. I’m having my hernia op tomorrow in a local surgery that has an operating theatre. Local anaesthetic and should be done in around an hour. Roughly 9 weeks from it happening and through the NHS. Will be off work for a few weeks and no biking for 6 weeks minimum assuming all goes to plan. I’ve been biking during this period with the aid of a truss I bought online which helps massively. A few short road bimbles getting up to 60 miles, plus I did the Peak Jacob’s Ladder route last Sat on the proper bike which was ace! Long period of sheer boredom starts here…trying not to eat and drink and piss away the fitness I’ve built up. Not really thought about the op itself much…til now ?…

Kes is a film I watched as a kid – watched it several times since and read the book. Part of our school curriculum – obvs very dated now but still great IMO.

I’d be quite tempted if I didn’t already have a good bike!

Email Sarah at Greenacres in Edale – opposite the entrance to the YHA. Been twice recently – never very busy. Nice site – only one shower but not a deal-breaker.

    Thread resurrection!

A paltry 21 painful-at-times roadie yesterday – bearable though. Hoping KT tape (or other brands) or hernia belt will help. Anyone actually had good results that def help make biking less painful/more doable and what works/doesn’t? Ta

2 miles into last night’s ride and I was done. The realisation that I can’t MTB for possibly 9 months hit me quite hard. I’m not really sure roadie riding will be an option either based on the strains even on a relatively flat section last night. Bollocks.

A spin around the street tonight reveals no obvious pulls, twinges or pain so I’m going to try the usual Weds night ride tomorrow, albeit I’ll avoid anything tasty that requires trying to get the front wheel in the air etc. It might all go to shit on the first climb or descent but I need to know what I can or can’t do comfortably. I’ll bail at the first sign of anything untoward. Doc was ok with me biking if sensible…I’ll know this time tomorrow whether it was a good idea or not. If MTB is too ‘engaging’, I’d rather have roadie rides as a backup than nothing at all.

Confirmed hernia but not a priority. Referral could be around 20 weeks! Still allowed to ride but take it easier based on pain levels. I can’t not ride for 20 weeks – that doesn’t even allow for post op recovery time ?. Easier MTB rides or even roadie exclusive for the foreseeable…

Confirmed as a hernia but need to call GP to get a referral tomorrow.

I’m at the walk in centre – was passing anyway and thought I’d sound the receptionist out – she said it was worth being here so I’m in the system at least

I use the inline Bontrager lever on the OneUp V2 dropper and it’s just as good as the OneUp V2 lever and half the price

Yep – that’s me asbrooks! It was a bit dead when we went TBH. Better atmos with nicer beer elsewhere. The Thai hostel place on the way to our chalet down by the river had a few spanker beers on

Beers were around €7-8 pretty much everywhere this time last year for 500ml. We would occasionally go to the Spar equivalent in town and Les Gets to buy a fresh baguette, cheese, pack of chorizo/ham, fresh tomatoes, big bag of crisps and Coke and make a monster lunch on build/scoff in a side street – ace! A lot of people ‘wild’ camp in vans near the Nyon lift at the top end of town IIRC. Take locks!

I was in Morzine on a Whyte T130 last year. Steepish angles, 27.5, 130 back and 150 front. I felt like my bike was a bit out of its depth. I now have a Privateer 141 with better 150 Pike Ultimates with slacker head tube, bigger wheels, lower and longer and it’s just so much more confident in the steep and fast stuff. Not sure that answers your question – not been to the Alps but at the Golfie, Lakes and Snowdonia it’s been a much more fun and capable bike when with only a bit more rear travel.

ID and Smarty use Three network – never used it – how does it compare to O2 in terms of coverage and reliability? I managed on 2GB somehow so jumping to 12GB will be more than enough I reckon, and saving a bit of cash between us

Van Rysel at Decathlon. Use for roadie and MTB. Black, super lightweight and packs down tiny. Just enough to keep the chill off and £30 (3 years ago mind).

100% doesn’t belong to the seller.

Kruz – really? Description is something he’s found online and modded because he didn’t know anything about the brand.
But at least it’s got Hope front and back seats, so that’s ok 🙄
