    11st 3lbs and in 32″ jeans! woohoo

I used to have a range rover,it was a great car all in. Comfortable, safe, very fast (V8 turbodiesel), I used to regularly drive it across Europe fully loaded, it was brilliant off road too. One of the best cars I ever owned; I could drive from London to Italy in a day and be fresh as a daisy on arrival. The high seating position made me feel very safe and unstressed on the road.

Downsides were the horrendous running costs, it wasn’t very reliable and almost everyone thought I was a plonker which led to not being let out at roundabouts or junctions, the paint being keyed and general aggressive driving towards me, which sucked.

I think big 4X4s get a bad rep – perceptions are a funny thing; I also had an S65 Merc which cost twice what the range rover did, took up as much if not more space on the road, had worse emissions and was a much less practical car; hardly anyone ever noticed me in it.

Anyway I had a mental breakdown and quit my job, and now I drive a crappy old Vectra. It’s worse in every way apart from being so anonymous that I notice people tend to treat me better on the road 🙂

When I lived in that London I once parked up the car (Merc S65) and was mugged for my keys by three eastern Europeans; apparently they are a popular model amongst the gangsters in Albania. I didn’t bother to put up a fight, it’s only a car after all. F**ers took my phone as well so I couldn’t call the police until they were well away.

@davidtaylforth are you implying that I am gay?

    (Because I am, very openly)

    🙂

Thanks for all the replies fellas, I’m going car shopping next month 🙂 Perhaps should have clarified, I will be keeping the Vectra for dog and bike duties and keeping the 750 for going on dates, long fast drives and general wafting about 🙂

Had a 335d touring for a while, great car all in, although the load space isn’t really very big. I think the 320d is probably the pick of the bunch, quick enough, cheap to insure and good fuel economy.

Edwin or Diesel for me. I’m gay though so naturally much cooler than you. Try ASDA for some dad jeans maybe?

Good luck PP – I would love a service where someone picks up my bike and sorts it out ready for the weekend, there must be more (lazy ****s) like me! Especially so in the South East where everyone is rich

There is only one way this can end:

Gone from over 14st to 11st 9lbs in about 3 months, all due to eating less (intermittent fasting if you want to call it that) – it has been really easy and I am looking very sexy, my confidence has improved no end!

@OP – well at least you tried – she said no, you need to move on. I believe the term you straights use is “railing ruts and nailing sluts”.

Alternatively, why not try the brown side? It’s as easy as “Alright mate fancy a bang? Tidy” 🙂

I think the most valuable part of having obtained a degree is not having to explain why I don’t have one at interview. Rightly or wrongly, employers see it as a yardstick.

OP hate to tell you this but she didn’t answer the phone as she was busy being rogered by her new fella. She’ll tell you all about it in great detail on the weekend. HTH 😉

Bought a CNOC14 for my nephew for Christmas. I’m sure his mother would go spare if she knew how much it cost but I can’t wait to see him bombing about on it!

I feel for you OP, this summer our flight was cancelled to Turin and the airline we all like “tough s***, f*** you”

preordered mine from mtb-direct, bloke on the phone said they had nearly sold their first allocation already…. Should be here mid december.

Mine are coming mid december, oh god I’m so excited, the kevlar standard grips were my absolute favourite apart from the fact they slipped constantly, even with grip glue. Tried ESI (too fragile), Ruffians, troy lees, everything in between but nothing compares to Renthal’s kevlar compound.

    I am a grown man.

This year’s Ryder Cup was pretty awesome, even if the wrong team won!

As all of the above have said. What I do is bet against my team – it sounds counterintuitive but in big matches (say Wales v England rugby) I’ll bung £20 on England – if Wales win, great and I have only lost £20, if England win( boo! etc) but I’ve won some money to drown my sorrows with 🙂

I once tried going from 710 / 50mm stem to 780/50 but it just felt too wide. Settled on 740 / 50mm and then started feeling I wanted more width, currently trying out 780 / 50mm again and it feels great now!

@OP man up and tell her how you feel and leave it at that. Don’t be coy or shy, or gently approach the subject, just tell her. If she wants to unfriendzone you she will. Or try the brown side.

Definitely work; I would say the fender bender is slightly more effective but there’s not really much in it.

OP you’re a bigger man than me, I’m not sure I would be so calm and understanding if I were in your shoes. I agree that the lying is worse than anything physical, as physical interactions can be just that (come on we have all had *that* kind of sex, right), but the time and preparation that goes with deceit is another level entirely. Hat off to you for trying for the sake of your daughter.

I wouldn’t listen to some of the “advice” from certain posters, they are either 14 years old, not very bright or deliberately trolling you, which on a thread like this is poor form.

Chin up mate and stay strong.

If you already own the DVD why not just download the divx/avi version from piratebay and save yourself the hassle?

Someone in your situation might do something like this, although I wouldn’t recommend it

1: Go to the hardware store and get a gorilla wrench and some expanding foam “no more gaps” or similar
2: Open up the panel on the lamp, disconnect the wiring (it’s plug and play). Once disconnected cut the connecting blocks off
3: Fill the cavity with expanding foam
    4: Lock the panel
    5: Enjoy blissful sleep

OP just put more money into your pension and bring your salary under the threshold?

Edit: that wasn’t what you were asking. I think we can all agree that it is a ridiculous system

Wait so your router died and you didn’t have the technical knowledge to diagnose it yourself, so an Openreach technician came to your house and configured and installed a new one for you – £99 for that seems like a bargain to me?

OP very sorry to hear your situation. Sounds like she needs to get a grip if you ask me, you sound like a nice fellow just trying to do the right thing.

If she doesn’t appreciate you there are thousands out there who will so keep your chin up! It may not seem like it now but things will get better, time is a great healer.

I have a pair of Aldens I’ve had for the best part of 19 years although they are a bit of a Trigger’s broom and have been resoled once or twice. I look at it like putting new tires on the car.

For more normal boots for knocking about in I tend to wear Timberlands, they last for ever and are waterproof and warm; the only downside is they come into fashion again every few years, which me being a staunch STWer am way too aloof to follow 🙂

Yeah they’re great; £60 a pair delivered from Germany means they’re a bargain too

It looks like you want a lot of local business so <postcode> photography could be a winner, something like “PO30 Photography” ?
