  • More ‘Meh’ Than ‘Wahoo’? Liquidity warning from S&P

The real question is how can anyone ride for 100 miles on a road without dying of boredom? It’s just a big gang of sweaty men in Lycra showing off their pert backsides and lunchboxes isn’t it?

    Oh

All of the RQs are now available in black chilli I think; it used to be just the 2.4s but now the 2.2 are as well, UST or not. I’ve not run the non-chilli models but the black chilli compound really is amazing, sticks like a super tacky but lasts forever and rolls quicker than any High Roller.

I used to run 2.4s but they are massive, now run the 2.2s and they are great. Can’t really comment on the sidewalls, they do their job, I run low pressures and DH tubes and haven’t had a puncture for 2 years – no idea what they are like for tubeless.

They’re excellent bikes all told. They don’t look particularly great but they perform brilliantly, certainly on my list when it comes to replacing my current bike. They do suffer from the BMW 3 series effect but meh. To quote some bloke I was chatting to about his bike “there are two types of biker; those who have a five, and those who wish they had a five” – seems pretty apt

Absolutely worth it for me. My degree helped me start my career on a great salary and continue along that path. Further down the line now I’m in my 30s, it means I don’t have to explain to interviewers why I don’t have a degree. Apart from that, university was a great experience, plenty of learning, drinking and shagging.

I wouldn’t recommend your kids go to university if they plan on studying some mickey mouse subject or don’t think they will be able to get at least a 2:1, having a Desmond in media studies is pretty pointless.

You answered your own question, if you want to be an importer then set up a company in the UK. If you want to be an exporter set it up in Spain.

I would be careful, HMRC like to open your mouth and shit down your throat if you get too clever, this type of thing isn’t new to them.

Get a fully tailored suit. Spend as much as you can afford. Failing that, buy an off the shelf suit and have it tailored, a surprisingly inexpensive way of getting a suit that fits well. A good suit should be treated as an investment, feeling confident with your appearance helps immensely when interviewing.

Charcoal suit, white shirt, red tie, black shoes is all you really need to know, follow this mantra and you will be guaranteed to look good; you can then forget about the suit and concentrate on the interview.

If you want to get really suit-faggy read THIS thread, it goes into intricate detail.

Get your boiler certified by a gas-safe installer and fit carbon monoxide sensors, also I would recommend having the wiring certified safe by a sparky. Make sure the doors lock and the windows close. I wouldn’t worry too much about the boys room, only redecorate it if a tenant asks you to. Unfurnished is fine, many people have their own appliances. Get landlord house insurance, and possibly tell your mortgage provider you will be renting it out.

If you’re going to be using a letting agent to manage the property, remember that they are unqualified, lying, duplicitous scum and shouldn’t be trusted, but if you have no choice try to use one that has been recommended to you by another landlord.

Oh god yes selling or buying a house can be a massive ballache. Two years ago I was pipped by someone else who wanted the same house, they ended up offering just over the asking price. It’s back on the market now at £35K more than they bought it for – lunacy.

As above always call the insurer to check, you might not be covered fully comp unless you pay a premium. I always ask for a green card too; the French police especially will make your life hard if you don’t carry one, even though it is not necessary for pretty much all of Western Europe.

Make the content good quality and relevant to what you are doing, and update it fairly regularly. Whatever you do, don’t try to trick/game Google, they will catch you out and your site will be forever blacklisted.

I’m confused – are you saying that 80mm of travel is the same as 200mm or whatever as long as it’s set up correctly? Why do people run longer suspension forks if that’s the case? Not trolling, I don’t understand any of this stuff to be honest.

Edit: From personal experience my 6inch bike is better on the rough stuff than my old XC bike (100mm?) and not as good as my old DH bike (fox 40s)

1977 Rolex submariner plexi dome that’s been beaten up over the years. G-shock strapped to my camelbak when I’m out on the bike.

I got rid of my xc bike and my DH bike and bought a 6″ bike, it’s great at pretty much everything. I long ago realised that I was too old and fat to be an XC whippet and too much of a pussy to be a DH god, this new “all mountain” thing is perfect for pootling around the local woods, uplift days, alps trips and it’s ok for all day riding too.

I use a Mont Blanc when signing contracts, it looks better than some scabby old biro. I think it was about £400 but it’s worth it. It’s no more or less functional than a scabby old biro but it gives a professional image, and like it or not, image counts.

I love the trip down to the Alps for the summer, the early start (a summer’s dawn in the UK is hard to beat), quick snooze on the chunnel, then that massive blast down the French straits, wonderful

Don’t folk get their glasses all scratched up? I’ve had the same pair of Oakleys for years but I don’t wear them on the bike as I think they would get wrecked, hence the five quid bolle lab specs. Is the reality different? I would have thought a few wipes with a gritty/muddy jacket would ruin them.

Both are OK, Chatel is nice though and not as crowded.

Bolle safety glasses are great, I use Bandidos, they are about 5 quid online and are completely transparent, no distortion

Nah the HT boys are just afraid that if they bought a better bike they would no longer have any excuses as to why they don’t attempt that gap jump, drop off, descent etc.

As to FS making trails “too easy” perhaps the riders should try some proper trails instead, or turn pro and make millions, I mean if they find riding on a FS too easy they should clean up in the pro ranks right? Oh wait no they’re an overweight IT consultant from Reading.

Where do these gnarly HT gods pass the FS people anyway? If it’s on the descents then they should have left a little more room before they started their descent. If it’s on the climbs, do the people they are “dropping” even know there is a race going on? Either way they sound like middle class cockbags with a chip on their shoulder, angry at the hand life has dealt them, and so attempt to diffuse their impotent rage by riding like a **** on a pedal bike.

That’s nothing I right a hard front, rigid forks at the front and a cane creeks double barrel 8 inch shock at the back, I make a point of dropping all the HT pansies

    randomjeremy

I suppose I could point out that all the pros ride FS bikes, and by your logic that makes them poor riders. I’m not going to though; it’s clear from your basic level of comprehension that you’re not very bright, and if I carry on trolling you I will end up feeling like a bully, which isn’t cool.

    randomjeremy

Yeah still a dreadful time but hey ho. You must have rad gnar skills to the power of sick if a FS makes things too easy for you, why don’t you go pro?

Why do the poors on their HTs feel the need to justify their decision? It’s the same as those people who constantly need to justify why they drive a Passat and tell everyone how much better it is than more expensive German cars. If they had the money they would be riding a decent FS and driving a BMW almost without exception.
