I would say it depends on what you need it for – if just for general everyday use Sky or O2 or Virgin all seem to get good press. If you download over a couple of hundred gigabytes a month and want anonymity try someone like Superawesome.

Yeah CC’s quarry section is pretty mental, you don’t see many people trying that (me included). Some of the bits on the “graveyard” at Afan can be pretty tough, I can’t remember seeing many people clean that bit between the trees with the rock slabs.

If “chicken” runs weren’t built in they would evolve over time anyway, so it’s best to build them in from the start, at least some attempt at making them hardwearing and sustainable can be made then. They are of course a good thing, not everyone is a gnar-machine ultra rad bomber.

Nothing wrong with doing this but be aware that if/when the revenoo take a trawl through the books, they may see it as a pee take and start lifting the drains up, and nobody wants that…

It’s easy to tell in the pub.

Men in happy relationships are relaxed – often their hair might be unkempt, they might be unshaven, slightly scruffy jeans and a t shirt and their shoes might be a bit battered. They are usually happy enjoying some banter with their mates and drinking a few beers.

The single men are usually more coiffured, they smell nice, their clothes are fresh and ironed, their shoes are immaculate. Also they tend to drink bottles of posh beer instead of pints of stout 🙂

Some of my women friends tell me that they are innately attracted to “dilfs” – especially if they are out and about on their own with their kids – something to do with preapproval (the dilfs are (probably) not gay, at least one person has already deemed them fit enough to have kids with them, and their bits work).

It’s much easier being gay – a quick nod, bit of fun then off to enjoy a pint and talk about cars 🙂

@b a c o n PP and Ebay provide the man in the street with a way of selling goods to an audience of millions, and taking payment for said goods. For this they demand a cut of a few percent. Seems like a reasonable deal to me.

@theupsetter I hear you, I tried an 18″ and even with a short stem it felt too big. The 16″ is perfect for me, it feels just right and is great fun to ride. Although what do I know, I’ve only been riding mountain bikes for 20 years, there can be no possible way of knowing when a bike fits me or not 🙄

I would stay as a sole trader for as long as you can, the accounting process is far simpler than that for a LTD. As to VAT registration well that’s up to you, you may find that some of your clients need VAT invoices (so they can claim the VAT back), which means you in turn will need to be VAT registered – it’s pretty painless to set up and administer though.

However if you are going to be taking on significant risk (I.E opening large credit lines with suppliers, long payment cycle times with clients) it might be worth sucking up the extra administration that an LTD requires, as you will be more protected if someone decides not to play ball (a LTD company exists as its own entity and has its own debt, as a sole trader the company’s debt is your debt)

I’m currently in an odd position – I take a PAYE salary as a consultant at $big_firm, I am a VAT registered sole trader providing consultancy to other firms (low risk exposure, no need for an LTD), and I am also the director of a VAT registered LTD company (manufacturing – high risk exposure, LTD makes sense). I never planned on it being like this but that’s the way it has transpired. Needless to say I have a good accountant, I couldn’t juggle the paperwork myself.

It’s all ****ed, nobody can borrow any money now lenders are asking for massive deposits – I recently sold a house for 30% less than I wanted for it. It’ll get worse before it gets better if you’re selling I reckon. On the other hand if you’re a landlord with low/no mortgage payments outstanding you’re quids in as the rental market is buoyant.

Edit: Looking at the markets today we’re in for another recession (did we ever leave 2008’s?) – no money mo’ problems!

It’s not very nice parking in a disabled bay but then if you look at some of the “disabled” people driving around, seemingly able to carry lots of shopping bags without assistance and driving manual cars, I can see why some people don’t care <can of worms>

I drove an F1 (not mine) on track and it was unbelievably scary – no traction control, no ABS, the brakes weren’t even servoed iirc. I wasn’t a good enough driver to get anything out of the experience, it was a great relief to get out of the car actually. I imagine they must be a nightmare to drive on the road (imagine an elise with 5 times the horsepower)

Met a lad on a Saracen (Ariel? I think it had an rp23 and 32s) out in France earlier this month, to be fair it looked like a well sorted bike.

Aha yes now I remember, more downsides of owning a flash car are repeatedly being called a **** by people you don’t know, never being let out at junctions, idiots (in passats and audis, why is it always passats and audis?) tailgating you, nightmare parking, always being afraid someone will vandalise it, etc 🙂

I ran a Ferrari 360 for a while back in 2002. It was an amazing piece of engineering but I have to agree pretty pointless most of the time, impractical and not that comfortable; to be honest a Mitsu Evo was probably quicker point-to-point on most roads. Also not that great on the track. I ended up buying a range rover (brilliant) and a trailer, and a caterham for the track so had the best of both worlds. I probably wouldn’t buy another “super”car again, I’m too self conscious and prefer big comfortable cars these days.

Panerais are great, I have a 177 model in titanium as my girly reed-like wrists found the steel ones too heavy. Beware though, they wear very big on the wrist; I find mine a little too big to wear as a formal watch, and too nice to wear as a beater. Such is life I guess.

@ransos I’m not sure anyone here is trying to justify why they buy expensive watches (nor should they need to). They buy them because they want them, same reason as they might buy an expensive car (why not get a second hand corolla? perfectly fine) or clothes (nothing wrong with tesco value is there?)

It’s pretty humorous seeing all these people frothing at the gash with righteous indignation over choices other people make, that don’t affect them in the slightest, and are none of their business 🙂

Whoah this thread has stirred up some strong feelings in a few people eh? A betting man might wager the same people who don’t “get” expensive watches are by and large the same people who don’t (pretend not to?) get why others buy big expensive ego chariot skills compensator bikes, drive flash cars or wear expensive clothes. A cynic might say there’s a whiff of the green eyed monster. Just sayin’ is all 🙂

People buy expensive watches for the same reason they buy expensive cars or clothes – they are enjoyable to own and they make them feel good. Sounds reasonable enough although some of the ‘sperglords on here can’t compute 🙂

@Elfinsafety – You said watches weren’t an investment, yet I have made lots of money buying and selling watches, thus proving you wrong. Deal with it.

Elfinsafety: No seriously, they really aren’t, no matter how many times you tell yourself it’s an ‘investment’. And you know I’m right too, don’t you?

Nice turdpost highlighting your ignorance. I’ve made lots of money over the years buying and selling watches. So yeah they can be an investment if you know what you’re doing, and you get to wear some great timepieces.

I have the vr50 flak jackets and the lenses are superb, a great colour and they change shade very quickly, repel water and mud etc. I used to ride in cheap safety glasses but these things have changed all that – and to top it off got them mad cheap at eyewearoutlet 🙂
