Not used the 2.3s but use the 2.5 BC for DH and the 2.2 RQ BC for trail riding, can’t see myself going back to Maxxis now and I was a big fan of Minions and HRs.

Bolle safety specs, mad cheap. Although I now ride in a pair of color-change oakley flak jackets. They’re miles better because they don’t fog and seem to repel mud and water, but are they worth nearly 20 times as much? Probably not.

No need for ad hominems it will hardly persuade me you are right and is more likely to make me think you cannot defend your point of view without insults.

Christ the ego on it. I’m not trying to persuade you I’m right, I don’t really care what your opinion is. You clearly have some issues with “the rich”. Did a rich boy take your conkers? When you finish school perhaps your viewpoint will change, I don’t know, whatever.

I’m surprised you can ride a bike the size of that chip mate.

Look if some richy rich buys a Ferrari rather than stick the money in the Caymans or give it to the tax man, that money pays the wages of the people who work for Ferrari, who then buy stuff from other people, who buy stuff from other people, etc etc, all the while raising income tax and VAT receipts, while creating vibrancy in the economy.

But waaah the rich are all assholes, right 🙄

You realise there are legal tax avoidance schemes? They are a popular monetary vehicle where only the tax avoider and their accountants and lawyers win. There’s even a box on your tax return to tick if you are part of one.

Now if you taxed the “rich” less, what do you think they would do with the money? They would spend it and help boost the economy. Nobody sits on piles of gold like Scrooge Mcduck you know, they make their money work for them, which creates jobs, income, tax receipts etc

I suspect you want to build things like that, I would imagine your kids would prefer to be playing CoD on their gaming rigs 😉

Yup patiently waiting for F11 M5 release dates, although there are rumours of a 400bhp triple turbo 4wd V8 diesel (550dx?) which would be the perfect base for the ultimate sleeper.

Edit: not driven an E63 but was underwhelmed by the RS6; it was very powerful but ultimately dull.

The OP was talking about 6 year olds not infants. I was learning how my VIC 20 worked when I was 6, it helped fuel a lifelong love of learning about technology in general, and specifically how complex computer systems work.

Well that’s not my point really, anyone can use an ipod or iphone or PC or what have you as a basic user – but some will become enthralled with wonder at how these things work and will want to delve deeper, maybe leading them to follow a path of discovery and end up working in the highly lucrative technology field. There’s a big difference between your nan using an ipad to check the lottery results, and learning how things work underneath the GUI.

Hey listen it’s not like the old days. You should encourage your kids to spend as much time immersed in technology as possible, it will give them a massive advantage over the kids who aren’t technologically literate in the same way that we have a divide between the technology “haves” and “have nots” today.

After years of enduring the hellhole that is London on public transport, whenever I have to go in to the city now I drive all the way and find a parking space. Since the introduction of the congestion charge central London isn’t so bad in a car.

Even outside of big cities I’ve always found travelling on a train to be a bit hit and miss, sometimes it is relatively stress-free but other times the train will be packed (with ****), dirty, too hot, running late and as others have pointed out, I still need to get from the house to the station, and from the station to my destination at the other end. When it’s chucking it down with sleet in true British fashion, I’ll take the car thanks!

It’s more of a case of powerful torquey engine + RWD + (wide) summer tyres being the perfect storm when it snows. A car with a weedy engine, FWD and skinny tyres is the opposite.

My (overwhelmingly unpopular) point of view is that you reap what you sow, everyone has a chance at making a success of it under a capitalistic system; if you don’t then that’s tough shit. What’s your view on it?

    randomjeremy

I think it’s a product of capitalism. “Fair” depends on your point of view I guess.

Who said social mobility was a good thing? We all need people to serve us in Mcdonalds and clean our cars, for this we need the plebs, no? Or do you want your bin man to be earning 50k a year with an Oxbridge degree?

If I had a dog I would train it to shit exclusively in the path of STWers. I would do this by instigating a number of Pavlovian training methods including the use of props such as The Guardian, Rapha clothing, 29ers and Skoda Octavias and by passing it a number of passive-aggressive notes worthy of Mumsnet. When they’re on the rag.

@mashiehood – excellent post sir. People don’t like the uncomfortable truth, which is why your post will likely be ignored or derided unfortunately.

@poly – also agree with you wholeheartedly on the 40% issue – the threshold is set way too low in my opinion.

    @tandemjeremy – ?

Personally I’d like to see these progressive tax rates abolished and introduce a flat rate across the board on all earnings, with punitive punishment for evasion and the abolishment of the laws that allow multimillionaires to pay little or no tax in this country.

For those that are frothing at the gash with their TAX THE RICH!!! loonybin politics, read and digest The Tenth Man[/url] if it’s too difficult for you to understand why taxing the wealthy at a punitive rate is not a good idea.

Haha.. they don’t! Pretty much all the people I know that have BMW’s don’t have money for it and just lease them. At least that’s how it works in the US .. Enjoy now, pay later (or never).

What do you think they pay the lease with? Magic Beans?

RWD makes for a better driving experience.
    Why’s that?

At a very basic level because one set of wheels is providing the driving force, and one is providing the steering, rather than one wet of wheels doing everything.
