Okay battery life: but if you use them like a phone (rather than a personal PC, mp3 player and console) then you get a couple of days out them. Certainly no problem lasting a work day.

You mustn’t do much in the way of work 🙂

In pretty much every other respect it’s like it’s a couple of years behind.

Depends what you need though. My company needs the phone to work well as a phone, and also access to email, remote wipe, encryption and long battery life from our mobile devices. Presently the only company offering all of these is RIM. For similar reasons we still use Solaris 10 on a load of our really important servers because it’s rock solid under load and has uptimes measured in years, and when it does fail it fails gracefully. We could stick the latest bells and whistles Linux on but even OEL or RHEL don’t fulfill or design criteria.

Saying that I can’t wait for iphone 5, my ipad is turning me into a right apple gayboy.

Oh yeah and battery life, I can talk and email plenty during the day and still have plenty of charge left. My iphone was dead by mid afternoon most days 🙁 Saying that, I have an ipad 3 and it’s lovely.

Am I allowed to like my blackberry AND like my ipad? Surely this breaks some kind of code.

Remember with leasing you’re essentially financing the depreciation of the asset (car) – often times you will be able to pick up a great BMW, Merc or Audi for less than the cost of a Vauxhall….

I remember watching top gear as a lad and seeing the S class mercs and how they represented the pinnacle of car design, and thinking that was something I needed in my life. Currently got an S65, it’s everything I thought it would be.

Fake edit: oh and an e30 M3 that got nicked 🙁 I was mugged in the street for the keys it was a pretty bad experience. Never replaced it but a few years later picked up an early e46 M3 CSL which was pretty special.

I’m the other way, where I work we swapped out Iphone 4s for blackberry 9900s and they’re better by a mile for the stuff we do. (Lots of email and encrypted access)

Not necessarily but itsounds like your old netgear doesn’t support ADSL2 so the line is falling back to a basic ADSL Max profile. Get a new one 🙂

Hmmm… 3:1 leverage ratio on the shock! Thought that kinda thing went out the window years ago?

Rules it out for fatties at least anyway…

Go on then, what does this mean. Does it mean anything or are you just ‘sperging?

Thirding CCDB on a five, transformed the bike. I did a mini review a while ago HERE

Since then I have ditched my DH and XC bikes and just use the 5 all the time, it’s brilliant.

Replaced my massive TV with a massive aquarium 🙂 Watch some stuff on Iplayer, sometimes films from lovefilm or piratebay on the computer or ipad. Might have to go round my friend’s house to watch The Apprentice though, I’m addicted and can’t wait a few hours for it to become available online.

Don’t you have to cook the meat first in a pan or grill to make sure it doesn’t turn into mushy grey slop?

It’s a difficult one this – working for yourself is great but the freedom isn’t always what people might think – if you don’t work you don’t get paid. Saying that, the opportunity to make serious money exists when you work for yourself (but also the opportunity to lose your shirt).

I think Packer has a good point – once you have kids I guess stability would be key over the thrill of running your own business – not in that situation myself but can appreciate it.

Marvellous devices, the screen on the new one is brilliant. I never thought I would be an apple fanboy, but they are really good. iTunes and iCloud though, god almighty two horrible crocks of shit.

This won’t make a blind bit of difference apart from boosting the black market. The people this is aimed at already buy their booze and fags out the back of dodgy dave’s van anyway….

About time they shared some of the burden. That generation benefited from low housing and energy costs, stable economies and “jobs for life” as well as gold plated pension deals. These are all gone now thanks to poor management by that very same generation. At the same time they poisoned the earth, which our generations are trying to fix. **** baby boomers, they have a lot to answer for.

I think a more pertinent question would be “why not?” It’s 2012, everyone has a phone. Life was worse without cellphones.

@juanking just a word of warning about Panerai, they wear massive – I have a 44mm 177 that wears absolutely huge on my wrist. It’s a shame as it’s too nice a watch to wear as a beater, but too bulky for formal occasions. Currently favoring a prohunter explorer 1 on a black NATO strap, it’s lovely.

@countzero damn that’s a good looking piece, NATO straps and dive/utility watches are just so perfect together.

@speaker2 *I* wouldn’t be in the landlord’s position as all of my tenants have proper contracts. I would set the price increase and if they didn’t want to pay they could terminate their tenancy agreement in accordance with the terms and conditions.

What happens in the real world only too often is what you describe – “the boys” would make it clear to the guy causing grief that he needs to move out for the benefit of all involved. It’s not right but that’s what happens.

Let’s talk about logos we like rather than shitting on the OP (although those logos don’t do anything for me in all honestly). Perhaps some images of good logos will inspire the OP?

Here are a few that have caught my attention as being pretty good:

    Sun Microsystems:

    TheyFit Condoms:

    Lacoste clothing:

OP sounds like you have an informal agreement that works for both you and the landlord, and now they have put the rates up by 8% to cover their costs. Understandably you’re not too happy about this. I agree that the notice given is a bit on the short side.

However if you don’t like it move out. If I was in your landlord’s situation and you tried to pull any crap on me I would kick you out as soon as I could. The rental market is extremely buoyant and I would imagine the landlord would have no trouble finding a new tenant immediately.

Sorry if that’s not what you want to hear 🙁

Mmmmm my randomjeremy. That sounds like bollocks to me. I tried not luring my chain for a year, and broke about 4 chains. Haven’t broken one in about 5 years since I started lubing them.

Yes well you should lube your chain with something, that’s obvious surely. But wet, dry, wax , special concoctions that cost ten quid for a tiny bottle? A bit of GT85 or WD40 or what have you is more than enough 🙂

    randomjeremy
    Free Member

MTB Chainlube is surely the biggest case of emperor’s new clothes since well, the proverbial. You need to lube a chainsaw, you need to lube a moto chain, you need to lube a timing chain. You could literally take a piss on your MTB chain and it would be sufficiently lubed.

@ernie perhaps those “grumpy self-absorbed demanding herberts” worked all week saving lives as firefighters, nurses, paramedics and doctors, and the only spare time they have is on a Sunday evening?

Surely the traditional paradigm has to come to an end for the retail sector at some point though. I tried to go shopping at my local retail centre at (gasp!) 17:30 on Wednesday and half the shops were shut. So I bought online instead.
