I’ve been a subscriber for about ten years. Why should I pay more than a new subscriber ?

I take it you took the picture so you had something to show them at A+E ?

I once bid £8000 on a Fiat Dino. I’d have been in so much trouble if someone hadn’t outbid me, but part of me wishes I’d won the auction. It’s better to seek forgiveness than permission after all.

Yeah the watch that kicked everything off for me is slightly more expensive..

Anyway the point in this instance is not so much that it costs and arm and a leg but that if spending that much should I really be looking at ‘proper’ watches. I’m looking at it as something that will hopefully be passed on in years to come.

Same for me, but I have a different IWC. The thing I like about it is nobody knows it’s a nice watch, it’s not bling like Breitling etc

Thanks all, that Decathlon bike looks very well equipped for the price. We’ll go and have a look on Saturday.

One just sold on Ebay for £45, so you can stop looking at new bars, stems and seatposts….

Mondeos often have clutch / flywheel, timing pulley or other issues, don’t assume it’ll be any better than the Focus. Do your research.

I sold an old, never worn gold chain the other week, research on money saving expert led me to Hatton Garden Metals, who (assuming all Ton’s gold was 9 carat) would have paid about £420 for the same weight. I reckon that was a pretty fair deal Tony.

Heroically expensive from what I hear (although I haven’t been myself). A friend took his two kids aged 4 and 7 and lunch (burger and a drink) was close on £40.

I had a MK2 RS2000 in the late 80’s. I thought it was brilliant. I see one round here occasionally and I can’t believe how awful it looks. Now, a flat front, or a Mk1….[/URL]

I usually ask for a late appointment so as to avoid having to leave work early. Sometimes this takes more than one day, but not often.

Sounds more like a habit than a dependency – I was in a similar situation until quite recently. Try making a cup of tea as soon as you get in, then have a pint of water instead of popping a cork. I found that if I have a beer when I got home, it would quickly be followed by another, and another…I was able to break the habit by drinking something else. I now sleep better and weigh less. Hope this helps.

idave I have filled in your online form, but I’m not sure if it went through (submit took ages and left a blank screen). Please drop me an email through my profile if it didn’t work.

Sounds like a service you should be paying for.

Just for the record, I agree.

you’ll need to get used to being hungry

It’s not the being hungry that’s the issue, it’s the feeling that I’m not eating enough of the right stuff, and am eating too much of the wrong stuff instead.

Can you offer to contribute to getting it levelled (graded ?) as an interim ? This will get rid of potholes etc which may be their main concern. At the end of the day these are your neighbours and any dispute you have with them will have to be disclosed if you sell the house, best to do what you can without being a doormat imo. Best of luck.

I have a 2003 X-Trail Di (note not a DcI, which I wouldn’t touch due to the unreliability of that engine). We’ve had it 3 1/2 years, or nearly 70K miles (now on 109K). It’s great. Reliable, gives 37mpg, is comfortable and is more than capable of cruising at 85mph should you feel the need. The downsides – interior cloth stains very easliy (go for leather) and the ventilation is crap. It used to tow a large caravan with ease. All in all it’s the best all-round vehicle I’ve ever owned, and I’ve had over 40…

If I was buying one today I would go for a 2.2di or a 2.5 petrol as these do about 33mpg so the benefit of the diesel is negated by the increased complexity of having a turbo etc. The 2 litre petrol is gutless and no more economical.

If being an irritating self-publicist was a serious crime half the people on this forum would be in a Japanese prison

10 miles each way a couple of days a week – downhill most of the way in, uphill most of the way home. As others have said take your stuff in on car days, ride as light as you can and build up the number of days slowly. Great fun. We have showers, but I work in a wet wipe factory so either way I’m not too stinky :-)

Or Adrian Flux. I have had a few modified cars, including a 205 Gti that was a class B road saloon, Flux were miles cheaper than anywhere else.

I always soap my moustache area last, and shave it first. Bad habits are so hard to break.

Pain on the outside of each knee and the first response you says it sounds like anterior knee pain – genius.

Sorry for trying to help, asshole.

My guess is that your knees were freezing and they’re now letting you know about it. Leg warmers or covered legs might help.

Wow. Genius at work compared to my post, obviously.

Sounds like anterior knee pain, I’ve had similar. There’s an article about it in the latest issue of STW. A physio can help. I’m not a Doctor, btw.

Some sites won’t take Hobby vans as they are the other war round (ie the bedroom is at the front) and this makes them harder to site.

my ears aren’t that finely tuned to notice the difference !

    You’d be surprised.

This. There’ll be an investment in time and money, but it’s worth it.

Thanks for that. I clicked on the link, had a giggle, then remembered I have to use Ebay at work. Next time I open it there will be loads of images of posing pouches on my screen as “Last item you looked at” reminders

I can’t go either, proper gutted, although I would much prefer a reformed Sugar playing Copper Blue

Copper Blue is in my top 5 albums ever – Beaster goes really well with it too

I agree – I can’t go either, mostly because it’s too far. Hopefully he’ll do it again in Manchester.

Make sure you have a bloody good moan at your neighbours when they finally get home and decide to deliver your parcel. That way they won’t make such a stupid mistake again

Avoid the 1980’s albums, try the 70’s stuff first. Harvest, After the Gold Rush, On the Beach etc.

I also bought my first Godspeed you ! Black Emperor album after hearing it playing in a record shop in Toronto. Another goodie.
