As you know I have had a very similar experience with the same service provider (except I paid £250). Suggest you give me a call and we can discuss.

Just to mention that I can’t get my XL Nickel in a Berlingo with the front wheel on, but my current wife’s small Maverick falls in no problem, so if you have big bikes double check the fit to avoid disappointment.

The guys at Llandegla always look after me, I can’t think why I’d buy a mountain bike anywhere else. Most stuff I do myself but if I don’t have the time or expertise for a job or I have a problem on a ride I can always leave it there and pick it up next time I’m back.

Result – hope everything dries out ok.

I can find out which kits fit which car, but I can’t find out which individual parts make up each kit, that’s the problem. I’m getting divorced and have 15 years worth of garage tat to sort.

it’s not worth buying cheap carbon at all, don’t be tempted by a full build carbon bike for a grand, you need to spend at least £1500 for a carbon bike with tiagra components to be getting a decent frame.

Bullshit. Really. Things have moved on, plenty of good carbon around at way less than £1500. I know plenty of roadies who regularly ride very comfortably, fast, on frames from Dolan, Boardman etc that come in under budget.

Have a look at a Dolan Hercules SE here . No point skimping on frame material, may as well have carbon. I have one of these (albeit in a slightly more expensive build) and it’s great. I’m 6ft 3in as well, size 56 is perfect.

Have you thought about a Nissan X-Trail?

I’ve had one for a couple of weeks and really like it.

Funny you should ask, I used to have one and I think I’m going to regret selling it :-) I didn’t expect to find a new house to buy so quickly….

Glad you’re enjoying it anyway :D

I hope things work out for you – especially as I’m in the same boat at 47…she’s buying me out so I get a fresh start, but 23 years is going to take some shrugging off :-)

I know quite a few people at Willams so I’m pleased for them. One of them is on Facebook thanking Sam Michael, who was the technical director responsible there until his mistakes caught up with him. He left, and went to Mclaren as Sporting Director. He’s in charge, amongst other things, for their pit stops

Sounds terrible, and not dissimilar to my own personal situation. Does this go some way to explaining why I have heard nothing from you in 7 1/2 weeks of a ten week training program ?

If it’s an auto that’s probably the right kind of price. I expect to pay in the region of £450 to service my IWC.

That’s because only IWC can service them – no parts or seals are available to third party repairers (IWC Spitfire here). Plenty of options for the “junior” brands.

This forum is good if you want a laugh or suggestions for dealing with a life situation or domestic crisis but I find Cycle Chat better for cycling discussions.

Sorry but I think this post goes a long way to proving the op’s point

I don’t know, how long did it take for your card to come through, I’m still waiting for mine

I’ve been a subscriber since about issue 4, don’t think I’ve ever had a card. I certainly have never had a new one since I’ve lived in this house, which is 7 1/2 years. I don’t care though, it reminds me of when all this was fields…

Llanberis is just too far away, the vast majority of tourists have to drive past Betws-y-Coed to get there, and why would you bother ?

Was the STW competition winner ever announced for one of these, I don’t recall.

I think it was some bloke called “Chipps”

Saw Gary Fisher at (I think) mountain mayhem a few years ago. In time with every pedal stroke I could hear him say “Cold. Beer” “Cold. Beer” :-)

I’ve been told that Planet X frames are pretty stiff (to the point of being quite harsh) although I have never ridden one myself. I’ve just bought one of these which is incredible value for money, and well suited to the ploughed fields roads round here.

I’m five miles away and the snow has just about gone here, but I can see there is still some on higher ground (Llandegla is quite a bit higher than me). That said it is forecast to be warmer tomorrow and I would put money on the centre being open by Friday at the latest.

Oh yes, I forgot about the E30 M3 – tick there as well. I’ve been very lucky to own some lovely cars, but karma seems to have repaid me as I now drive an X-Trail (great in it’s own way, but no 911…)
