A friend of mine has about £20k of Naim kit, which sounds very nice. Another friend of his came round one evening with a different mains lead to try. I laughed At first, but the difference was astonishing.

Radiohead nineteen times, and loads of people three or more – Prince six times, Primal Scream about the same, Robert Plant in various incarnations about the same, Elbow, Doves, Grandaddy, Neil Young, Flaming Lips, Blur, Felice Brothers etc etc…I’m old, which is an advantage as others have said

35 goes to purge the tubes after the snip ? I had mine on the 21st of December, I reckon I can knock that off by the end of Jan. So to speak.

I used to think my sporting heroes were Lance Armstrong and Alex Zanardi. Shame, Lance couldn’t hold a candle to this guy.

Lots of advice on here, most of it pretty good. All I’ll say is that if my next partner lies to me like my ex wife did I’d be gone. My ex changed the name of her “other bloke” in her phone so I wouldn’t recognize the name. This was after months of Relate, “working at it” etc etc. Unfortunately for her she didn’t delete her sent messages so I knew she was still in contact with him even after swearing she had ended it. We were together 23 years. Protect yourself, build a “fighting fund” in a secret account if you can, try as hard as you feel is right to save the relationship and keep your eyes open. Good luck.

Try not to get too upset, I know it’s difficult but anything you do or say now can have enormous implications later :-( As I said, I’ve been there. It’s terrible, but don’t make it worse by behaving badly yourself.

I read this thread a few days ago and thought to myself “she’s got someone else”. Same thing happened to me, eventually my wife confessed on my birthday a year ago. I tried for months after to make it work, but in the end we split up (after 23 years). We’re now divorced, but amicable. The thing is an affair isn’t the cause of a broken relationship, it’s a symptom. It’s awful, but it does get better.

First gig Whitesnake, Bradford St Georges Hall, 1980. Bloody great, the original lineup before it all went wrong.
Last gig Radiohead at Manchester last weekend.
Next gig Jack White, Bridlington Spa.

Silly question as there are too many possible answers, but

Favourite Band : (Current) Radiohead
Favourite album : In Rainbows
Single : Sparks , this town
Gig : Too many, but Flaming Lips, Radiohaed, Neil Young all up there

You have my sympathies ( my divorce cam through on 7th Sep after nearly 18 years). My advice is to try everything you can to make it work but to try to protect yourself against the possibility that things may not go well. I found out after six months of Relate that my wife had been conducting an affair with someone at work, I tried hard to make it work regardless but ultimately to no avail although in the end it was her decision to split. I can cope now because I know I did nothing wrong and I think I’m in a better place than my ex as a result. Try everything, but stay strong, for your own sake.

Tom Waits – Alice
A great album, but way earlier – 1990 from memory

I managed a record shop in 2002 when Alice officially was released, if I remember correctly most of the album was heavily bootlegged after original recordings had been stolen/leaked in the mid 1990s. It didn’t sell as well on official release as we hoped for that reason. Cracking album though.

I Googled, and stand corrected. I would have bet good money on the Alice / Blood Money releases being ten years earlier that this, and I’m a fan (as my user name will show)…must be getting old… :-)

One of a very small number of people who genuinely deserve the title “sporting hero” imo. If he was British he’d have been knighted by now, and rightly so,

Dirtdiggler, out of interest what sort of MPG does that return?

According to Autotrader, 45.6 mpg combined, which if accurate is quite amazing….

According to Pistonheads “real world mpg” around 35 mpg on a run, 32 mpg on local runs

I would recommend an X-Trail, but would avoid the 2.2 DCi as this engine is not the most reliable. I had a 2.2 di which did 37mpg and was nice to drive, sold it at 114K miles to someone on here who is very happy with it, but if I was buying another I would probably go for a 2.5 petrol as these do 30+ to the gallon and don’t have the potential turbo issues of an older diesel. Go for the SE as this has leather, the cloth seats mark really easily (but clean up well). Something like this ?

I was a young air cadet standing at the end of the runway when the last of the Lightnings left Leconfield in the 70’s. It feels strange to think that there are so few left, and that I really am that old :-(

If you are still talking sensibly to each other then the first thing to do is split your finances. If you have any joint commitments then use a shared account for these until things are sorted out, but make sure your pay cheque goes into an account which only you can access. If you can avoid fighting through different lawyers then you will both save a lot of money, my ex wife and I used the recommended firm from wikivorce and it has worked very well, and cost only £279 plus the court fees.

Good luck to you both. Life moves on.

I’ve been promised a refund and haven’t yet had one. I’m more annoyed at Don Simon than iDave at the moment though. He’s almost as annoying as Fred was.

Thanks Dave. I’ve now had the “group” email (I didn’t get it the first time as Dave sent it to my work address and I’ve been off work for a week). I have no interest in “ruining” anyone, I just don’t buy the excuses. As others have said communication was no problem until money had been handed over.
Everyone affected has been contacted and introduced to each other using an email address that is now 100% reliable. I’m deeply sorry for being a ****. All comments in the thread noted, many are fair, a few are well wide off the mark. Whilst this situation is hugely embarrassing and clearly unacceptable, it’s in no way been the most difficult thing I’ve been trying to deal with in the last 6 months. I’ve never tried to gain business from STW, it’s been my office banter since before it was STW. It makes no sense to deliberately bugger up an opportunity that came along – just think if I did a great job for a few on STW how the referrals would pour in. So, to intentionally do what appears to have been done would be utter madness both commercially and personally. Many users of STW are personal friends, it’s insane to think I’d act like this in full view of people I see regularly unless other forces outside my control were at work. Which I hope makes a few of you realise I’m not a total douche bag. Though if anyone wants a mint sauce key-ring……

Me too please Dave.

If anyone wants Dave’s home address for court paperwork email me and I will send it to you.

Absolutely. It astonishes me that someone can give so much help away for free, but then be so utterly useless when paid.

I know you’ll all be shocked, but here we are two weeks on and still the promised refund hasn’t arrived. Words fail me (at least, the ones I can post on here do).

So – four days since I emailed Dave on his “clean” email. No reply. No surprise. For what it’s worth I have some sympathy with Dave as he’s clearly having a shit time. However, in the last twelve months I’ve lost my home, wife (who announced her affair with a workmate on my birthday), financial stability and dog. Part of what helped me through was the thought of losing weight and getting fitter – this is why I paid £250 for what I thought was to be a structured plan with support. I did, eventually get the workout plan (and a tweeked iDave diet) but have not had a single chance to discuss the plan or ask any questions. The plan took no account of the exercise I was already doing. I had absolutely no reply to any of the weekly feedback forms I was asked to fill in. I’ve had a shit year too, Dave, and I went to work and did my job. Do the decent thing and give those people who you have so clearly failed their money back. You might even rebuild your reputation if you do.

I will email you now and await my refund.
