I dont enjoy riding in the wet muddy trails during winters, after a ride, you have your bike to clean in freezing weathers, wash all your clothes and then clean the car, no fun at all. Road riding for me in winter, much cleaner.

I would get the carbon 456 due to the weight and the bargain price at the moment.

First car for a 31 year old IT nerd, I would say get yourself a cheap Nissan Micra and use it for a year to get used to driving and cheap insurance aswell, after a year then upgrade to a better one.

    Good luck

Thanks for the answers, will avoid Kenda tyres for winter riding.

@mudpup, the reason I asked that the winter is coming and I will be riding most on the road on my MTB with a few quick blast at local woods in my area so I ask for advice, so calm down boy 🙄

They are good bikes, it’s shame Cannondale stopped making them, why did it stopped?

I use water can on the bike first, spray ‘muc off’ stuff, leave for 5 mins, a bucket of water and use sponge or brush to wash the mud off the bike, once done and then use the water can to swirl it off, to finish it off, I use cloth to clean frame, forks, etc and toothbrushs on the gear stuff, finally put lube on chain and GT80 on other stuff.

Now have a spanking clean bike!

@thepodge, If you want even more travel like 150mm, then get Giant Reign.

    rainbow

If you want to run 120mm travel, get a Giant Trance.

Anthem is best run on 100mm travel.

Giant Anthem is def suited 100mm travel forks, go more will strain the frame headset to possible cracks.

Panaracer Fire XC pro are good tyres for all year round, for aggressive trail riding as you mention, maybe go for Maxxis High Rollers for front and back.

A shocking and horrible crash especially seeing the helmet rolling off the track, he didnt have much chance after Edwards hitting his body and Rossi hitting his helmet. A sad week for motorsports with Dan Wheldon last week and then this today.

    RIP Marco Simoncelli 🙁

Boy racers, women in 4×4 and posh people in flashy BMW and Mercedes are the worst on the road IMO

Get a full suspension MTB, you wont have any more broken seatposts.

@PeterPoddy, do you happen to drive a BMW or Mercedes by any chance?

    rainbow

@PeterPoddy, well most lorry drivers drive roughly 60 mph on the inside lane while you are Mr 65mph driver, I can guess it will take you 5 miles to pass a lorry on the middle lane and that will build up traffic behind you, maybe you should speed up a bit to pass the lorry and then go back to your 65 mph or slow down and stay behind the lorries, going 5 mph slower of your max limit shouldnt be a problem.

Off topic, I hate middle lane hoggers, they are a menace on the road, simply bad drivers. 😡

I would get the Genesis Latitude frame, very tidy with cable stops and light aswell strong paintwork.

The new Charge Duster, the skinny tubes, I was told it’s not suitable for heavy riders and going off jumps will crack the frame, it’s suitable for light off road riding.

If it’s aluminium frame, dump it and time to get a new frame, with steel frame it can be repaired.

Depend what kind of trails you mostly ride, Bristol Aston Court and F.O.D. (smooth flowing) will be good for hardtail mtb, Afan and Cwmcarn (rocky) is perfect for full suspension mtbs as it’s more fun, end of the day dont worry what bike snobs say, ride the bike suited you best.

wow! there is alot of keyboard warriors on STW, very anal people 🙄

    Happy trails

I personally think the best tyres for everything is Panaracer Fire XC Pro, brilliant for all kind of surface but can clog up a bit in very muddy ground though.

Great racing at Laguna Seca, Stoner was awesome today and full credit for Lorenzo, it was a guty ride after his crash yesterday, pity Hayden didnt past Rossi, maybe it’s team orders?

Roll on next one at Brno.

Gutted for Andy Schleck, 3 times runner up in a row, still he got time on his side and he should win it one day.

Maybe Charge Knife, it’s more flat than the Spoon, if not then try visit your local Specialized shop as they have a machine that measure the shape of your bum and give you the correct saddle suite you best.

That’s very bad finish, dont be a push over and a wuss, just go back and tell them it’s poor finish and you expect better, simple ask to do it again or ask for the money back.

    In short words, It’s shit.

Very nice, I must try take a pic of mine soon, liking the white wheels and bars as it looked good on black frame.
