Interesting. One of those Mavic jerseys is something I ordered from CycleSurgery but the collar was too wide so I sent it back. They were the same price as Sportspursuit are selling them for.

So where does the stuff that doesn’t sell in the clearance bin end up?

The SKS Bluemels fit too with a hole drilled in each one. That’s what I have on mine with 28s fitted. Generally. I don’t think they look as good as the Specialized guards but then with only 28s they look a better fit.
Oh and quick tip. Use screw lock on the grub screws.

I’ve only started doing Audaxes this year and have clocked up around 2000 miles in Audax rides and 200 miles in Sportive rides. I’m both antisocial and autistic and much prefer Audaxes. The routes seem to be crafted by local cyclists that genuinely want the experience to be as pleasant as possible for the cyclists. Where as one of the two sportives I did, one overlapped with another separate event, both used the same signage, i.e. black arrow on yellow background, got me lost and I ended up doing an additional 20 miles with no apology at the end. Put me off sportives forever.

It was funny doing an audax recently and in the opposite direction came a group of sportive cyclists. My memory of the guy at the front of this group was his wide eyeballs and his manic grin as if he was rushing on pink champagne. None of that from your audax riders.

It’ll be fine. I’ve got loads of heli tape on my black carbon Diverge. If it was a lighter colour and the bike had been exposed to sunlight and dirt then on removing the tape you’ll see the paint that hasn’t been taped over will be a darker shade. May take a bit of t-cut or similar to blend it back in. Speaking from experience with a gloss lacquered frame. The Diverge is matte though so I think this will be less likely to happen. The carbon won’t be affected at all. Get good tape though. Take your time using a hairdryer and plenty of water to get it round the curves. 3M is the best and they do a matte/silk finish tape too.

I’ve got a Revo. Solid piece of kit and use it every day and have done since I bought it in February last year. Really wish they’d modernise it though. It’s a three year old model and no change to the design.
I think Exposure need to jump headlong into the dynamo market or they’ll miss out to the German companies who bring out newer models with more frequency. The public love innovation and although incredibly reliable I think the company needs to spread it’s wings a little bit.
Integrating recitifying/regulating circuitry into the Revo, similar circuitry that is found in the Sinewave models, in order to charge a GPS would be a big seller. Doesn’t need to require a USB type cable as people can solder their own custom cables. Before anyone says it the output from the Revo is only good for powering a rear light, not charging a GPS device.
Anyway if they release both a road specific model alongside on off road model then it would show they mean business I reckon.

I’ve got two different pairs of Red Wings and I use Dr Martens Wonder Balm. Does the job perfectly. In fact I use that stuff on my leather cycling gloves too.

1 (one) yes that’s all and I ride to work (12 miles each way) every day, throughout the year plus I ride over the weekends. I use it for mtb’ing and road cycling. I’ve done 600k audaxes in it and some bigger rides. It has mold stains on it but I don’t care. It saves any tricky decisions on what to wear in the morning. Bit of lynx sorts the slipstream out plus my approach is good for the environment. I’ve had it since about March last year. It developed a hole in the rear pocket through which I lost a bluetooth headphone dongle so my mum sewed it back up.
I might buy a new jersey soon however. I have my eyes on a couple. I’m worried however that this may open the floodgates to a new period of profligacy.

Make sure whoever you’re purchasing from hasn’t signed up to the Global Shipping Program. I’ve been stung twice recently and it bumps the shipping costs up considerably. Wish I’d known about it before buying the goods.

I thought at first somebody had been having a picnic!

    “Lay my rug out here…”

One of my pet peeves is chewing gum. Makes such a state of towns / cities and is horrible when you put your hand under a table only to have it stick to a blob of gum. Banned or was banned in Singapore as far as I know.

Warranty isn’t an issue on a Chinese imported frame

I just drilled some holes and put rivnuts in my frame. It’s carbon too. People are paranoid about drilling frames. If you’re sensible and careful no harm will come of it.

See this is why the UCI need to allow disc brakes. Cyclists are clearly having issues stopping.

Dealers need to know how to deal with questions about this. I’d be certain that, as they’re now getting these models onto their shop floors, they’ll be getting more enquiries about this at some point in the near future.

I want to run tubeless which I can’t do on the stock wheelset. I also want 28 spoke min on the rear. It’s a good frame but the standards Specialized use are totally non standard what with their 62mm wide bb30 shell aswell.

    RAGGATIP

Yup that picture was from elsewhere.

Specialized won’t supply an SCS hub. That’s what is annoying me most. Complete lack of support. They supply some parts but not the shell.

Also no hanger without the offset is available.

I’m not keen on spacing the dropouts further apart which is what the shim/extended end cap solution would do.

When asked Specialized keep saying it’s a normal road hub that I need. No help what so ever.

100% it’s not 142mm. I’ll take a picture of the 135mmx12mm Hope hub with road freehub and post it up.

It’s a carbon framed Specialized Diverge. The frame is definately for a 135mm length shaft (including end caps). The Hope definately won’t fit. It was the 135mm x 12mm length I tried with the 11 speed road freewheel.

This is how the SCS is described on the Specialized website…

    Link to pdf

and this is the drop out the cassette (when fitted) rubs against

I’m pretty certain that it is a SCS specific hub that I need contrary to what I keep being told by Specialized and their dealers alike. The current one has the letters SCS etched on to it. The derailleur hanger doesn’t as it otherwise suggests in the image above.

OK cheers. Just found a review on the TwoNav Anima which also takes AA batteries. Very tempting. The Oregon’s on Amazon.es for under £200 at the moment though. Not much in it as far as I can tell.

I’ve just been looking at a size comparison to the TwoNav Anima on youtube. The Oregon looks pretty big! I can’t find any reviews on the Anima but it looks OK and perhaps smaller than the TwoNav unit I tried last year.

I charged the TwoNav via the dynamo and found it maintained the battery life for a few days with the screen on it’s lowest setting. I did carry a spare battery but that combo saw me ride for ten days all off road with battery life to spare.

The USB wasn’t waterproof though but I was lucky as it didn’t rain. Do you think the Oregon would work with this set up? Low screen, constantly on and charged via the dynamo?

The one I’m getting is the Carbon Comp. Same frame and I believe same wheelset, i.e. AXIS 4.0 Disc wheels. I’m assuming they’re the same spoke count. I think they’re also radial on one side (8 spoke?) and two cross on the other (16 spoke?) just to annoy me further.

    RAGGATIP

Great thanks. That’s a very low spoke count for a rear wheel. I’m looking to replace the wheels for a custom set but as there are no SCS hubs available I’ll have to build the rear wheel around the existing hub which is a bugger. I’d prefer 32 spokes on the rear.

CaptainFlashheart if you’re around, could you tell me what the spoke count is on the rear wheel of your bike please?

Why can’t the rail network route data down their overhead lines or through the electrical rail line as is possible in homes? Just need a small modification to the pickup, a router and then relay wi-fi through the length of the train surely? May be a problem with diesel trains but they’ll be out of commission in the not too distant future.

**edit** just thought they may not have an earth line which I think the homeplugs use?

I’ve completely lost track of the days. I thought yesterday was Friday so I watched 13 Assassins which didn’t finish until late and then I started sexting some crazy south american girl I know. So didn’t start sleeping until 2’ish. Only realised it was Friday when my alarm went off (which it doesnt on weekends) so I am now feigning illness. Phoned in sick and now have to follow through with my early morning texts.

I have had plenty of mudguards in the past and never had any problems

So why change then? Surely that’s implying you have had problems.

I’ve got the front and rear with the additional extension for the front. I had to cut an additional pair of slots for the cable ties in the front guard to position it optimally. I’ve also used frame tape for both front and rear where the ties wrap around the frame. So OK a little bit of effort to set up, they’re expensive as they’re only bits of moulded plastic at the end of the day but they’re great. Very effective and have had them on my bike a few months now whilst seeing daily use.

They’re better than that overpriced carbon mudguard which I bought then thankfully saw sense and returned it for a refund.
