Is Birdsong the one made in to a TV show with lots of Eddie Redmayne staring in to the middle distance? I think I’ll give that a miss.

Edgar Mint looks right up my street though, nice one

    Watchmaker looks good too, cheers

The Passage.. hmm, fantasy trilogy… are we talking Lord of the Rings or Twilight?

APF – I’m going to somewhere called Bantayan Island – thankfully it’s about as far from Reading as you can get!

Yup, lots of whingeing about these on my club’s FB page. We ride in NSW where a bell is a legal requirement. These looked really good – stylish, minimalist, legal… but have been a disappointment it seems (personally I was too late for early bird so then didn’t bother)

I’ve also wondered why they used kickstarter… maybe they knew they were going to be shit so got people to pay up front before they received them

Whilst KFC have diversified into the ‘hot n spicy’ market in recent years they’ve still resisted selling a hot version of their classic chicken pieces

Available in Australia and the Philippines 😀

Perhaps it’s APAC wide, but I can only vouch for those two

Had a card that had cash on it, couldn’t find an ATM that would accept it.

In an Airbnb so no reception to help out.

Chippy chips are the single thing I miss most living away from the UK. This thread is making me hungry and also incredibly sad!

I used to use Route 6 to get from Sheffield to Rovrum every day. It was much better than the road route, went along the canal and the river, and even through a wild flower reserve. It wasn’t perfect but it was good

Do you eat dairy? Have you tried cutting it out? Swapping out normal milk for soy on cereal and in coffee sorted mild eczema out for me

Garmins still use the magnet on the wheel for speed as well as the GPS… I assumed for better accuracy or GPS dead spots but never bothered looking it up

I watched The Fault in Our Stars on a 24 hour flight. I don’t know if it was the altitude, the fatigue or the free booze but I very nearly didn’t keep it together!

Maccas and KFC both come already cooked. Try dominos if you don’t want to leave the house either

I bought one 2nd hand and did lap & start buttons together to clear everything off it. It went in to setup mode when I next turned it on

If you want a messenger rather than a backpack (ie one shoulder), I have a Chrome and it’s been really tough. They come in sizes from ‘big’ to ‘massive’ and works really well on the bike. I used to stuff it with shopping on the way home when I commuted

We practice ISO27001 now – lock your machine when you get up, turn papers over and challenge anyone without a pass.

I assume there’s more to it than that 😀

Thanks Mike, I’ll try and find a copy of that, it looks interesting.

It wouldn’t be directly competing – my co still own the rights on the software so I couldn’t write anything, but the client would love people with product knowledge I think

We’re a UK based company with a NSW government client. There are good opportunities there I would have thought, although I’d have to go elsewhere for 6 months to get around a non-compete clause.

It looks like I’ll go over for a couple of months to help set up the offshore team. In name it’s training the new guys but I could spin it in to scrummastering/managing them if I’m given the freedom. And yeah they are SE asia

Career probably needs to take the back seat until that is sorted.

Agreed, and I think I have a year where I am with which to polish iup the relevant skills for the next step. Just need to decide what that is.

    Good at negotiating?

No, terrible, and that’s why I’d shy away from sales type roles. Although I don’t mind wearing a suit actually 😀

Good at pulling the team together to get stuff done? Good at sorting things out and organizing? Get on with people?

Tick, tick, tick. I did enjoy scrummastering when I did it for a year. It was only part of a dev role though, I’m not sure how you spin it in to a full time job, unless you’re managing the whole scrum process across all teams?

Yes, that’s another thing – my PR application has recently gone in. It’s being sponsored by work, so I need to stay with them for a year from now anyway, from my side. I’m in Sydney

When you say business knowledge, it that knowledge of your business or of ‘business’? I do wonder if it’s worth looking at part time MBAs or suchlike to boost the management side of things.

I think probably the honest answer to your question is ‘not dev’. I’ve got people skills, and I can for sure understand the tech.. so what sits in the middle? BA? PM? And of course I want it to be well rewarded… houses are expensive over here.

Over the last couple of years Microsoft have offered me what totals to 20GB of free Onedrive space for doing various things with it (auto backup of photos etc)

They changed their mind last week and now I’ve got to get rid of anything over 5GB, pay for more storage or sign up for Office 365. The latter option is free for the first year so I’m just going to do that, and pull everything local, but it’s a case in point of the fact you don’t really own shit in the cloud

I’ve just bought one on almost exactly the same criteria. It was about $14 from Officeworks so doesn’t matter if it doesn’t really last. It’s got spaces between the keys too which I find helps to reduce fat fingering.

It’s this, I’m sure you’ll be able to get it somewhere in the UK under a different name

Probably a phishing scam from someone who’s not twitter, to get your twitter password.

You don’t use it though so jokes on them

While I think it’s pronounced ‘Sex-wah-lay’, I read it in my head as ‘Tokyo Sex-whale’
