When I bought my YT they didn’t have paypal, did a bank transfer through RBS they gave me the option to pay in euros or pounds and the transfer fee was £20 to receive the money in 2-3 days or £10 to receive within a week.
The exchange rates at the bank were really good at the time and I had been keeping an eye on them. I payed for it knowing there was going to be a couple of months wait before I actually got it and by the time I get it I had saved nearly £200 just on the rates changing.

My new front plate turned up in the post today, have never been that worried of it snapping. I’ve been on the uplifts at Ae and Innerleithen enough to think if it was going to snap it would have done it by now.

mboy, get one! just back in from playing in the carpark for an hour of manuals and bunny hops, starting to get the hang of it already. BMX track tomorrow. Going to need to get a brake though and some better pedals.

I bought it for £50 off a kid who said he was too old for it now. (he was about 15!)

I never knew about the recall un-till I got an email from YT still haven’t had the replacement yet.

    Here’s what the email said

Race Face has identified a potential safety issue involving the Turbine stem bar clamp. A small number of clamps may have been manufactured outside of design tolerances. These outliers could crack and eventually break during use prematurely; therefore we are voluntary replacing all stem bar clamps manufactured between Sept 2010 and Aug 8th 2013.
The bar clamps affected have a serial number on the inside of the clamp as indicated in Figure 1. The serial number consists of a 10 digit code with the last four digits in the format YYWW (year week#). All bar clamps with a date code prior to 13 35 are eligible for the upgrade.
We apologize for any concern this voluntary upgrade may have caused. The health and safety of our customers is paramount to us and we are committed to offering safe products that are produced, sourced and handled responsibly.
Figure 1: Location of date code of stem bar clamp
    Remedy:
Consumers should immediately stop using bicycles equipped with the affected bar clamp and replace with the new bar clamp YT has supplied. Alternatively you are free to contact the Race Face warranty department directly to receive a free replacement.
Race Face warranty can be contacted via
    email – warranty@raceface.com
    or by phone Monday through Friday +1 604-415-2350 9am – 5pm PST

There was a voluntary recall on the front plate, do you still have it? What are the date codes on the inside?

Tim, I sent them out to Mad Elk Cycles in Rep o’Ireland, was a bit pricey but they had parts in stock, did a good job and fixed the clicky noise in the Vip’r. Cant remember the exact price for a service (It’s on their site) but I remember posting fork and shock out was £45! slowest post and insured to £50! And post back was £6.

Iv’e got the 26″ wicked LTD edition with full BOS and carbon seat stays, no idea how it compares to the 650b version but I love mine its a few years old now but still going strong and don’t feel the need to update yet but I would definitely buy another bike from YT.

The black is definitely closed it’s supposed to open at the end of the month but they still seem to be doing lots of work (looks like new forest roads for harvesting) your still allowed to ride mc moab but I think they want you to drive round to it.
And there’s a small diversion at the end of the red.

They don’t “take” payment you transfer the money to their account, I cant really remember but I’m sure YT want the money transferred within two weeks of the order confirmation.

All this talk of different sizing made me break out the vernier’s.

Front tyre Rubber Queen 2.4 UST 60mm wide
Rear tyre Mountain King 2 Protection 2.4 58mm wide

It does look a lot thinner though but must be a trick of the eye from the side nobs, they are more straight up/down, square to the tyre.

Haven’t ridden it yet so cant even comment on that.

Don’t get a wipperman one they undo when you back pedal. As I found out when I was readying my old DH bike in the start hut at ft bill. The cranks and cassette span round and dumped the chain on the floor followed by me scrambling around trying to find the link and a cue of people behind me trying to push past.

Send it away I would say, is it still under warranty?

Good luck though I’ve been trying to get a full service kit for my reverb stealth and the suppliers are out of stock till july!

I’ve done it by using a pair of pilers just make sure you get hold of opposite ends of the link.

Have you taken the bearing out? The info is usually on the side, not on the seals for this type of bearing. You really need to measure it, but I’m going to say one of these will fit.

I use a Osprey Zealot 10 great bag but only a couple of minor things that niggle it’s stable side to side but still wants to go over your head while jumping (same as all bags I’ve tried) the tool roll and pocket seems like a good idea but really it’s a pain to get into the zips at the bottom of bags are stiff, wet and muddy.

And never believe the marketing about having a cool dry air flow on your back they are all sweaty.

It’s not like SRAMs harder wearing or anything, I’ve always been a Shimano fan and this is the first bike that’s fully SRAM, had their chains before and always thought they were rattly when they wear.

souldrummer I think YT might be a bit too niche the didn’t have any.

chrisg1664 I sent an email off to see if they have it or not, it’s for a 2012 wicked LTD it’s the red one which I’m pretty sure is just the same as the black version but only the Wicked LTD have carbon seat stays so there’s a small chance it could be a different fit.

    I have one, I’m 5 11 and got a medium and glad I did.
I had ordered a large but changed my mind halfway through the order, could never get a good answer on the sizing thing I’m guessing I’m in-between sizes.

Check between the shock bushings and the rocker links, in-between where they bolt together and see if the surfaces are smooth.

My old commencal would make some crazy creaking at the same spot though the travel turned out to be this, (between the bushings and the frame mounts anyway) I had to use some very fine sandpaper to take some rough scratches off, sorted.

I’ve been using a clean sheet for the past 6 something years and its been great even when my forks decided they didn’t want oil in them, it still kept the car clean and cost about a tenner(ish). Don’t know if they still make or sell them.

I was just about to post this exact problem with my Reverb. Mine is 6 months old, is it a warranty issue or just needing a service? The manual is quite clear on seals etc. being wear and tear but there’s nothing about service intervals.

Robarnold did you get a time for how long the post should be away from?

samuri- I know about the cpu fan, the psu was new last year so should be ok for a little while, only the processor and hard drive are the original parts everything else has been changed several times.

    b r- parts only,

after trawling through ebay I think there’s better deals to be had there.

Its all just numbers and letters.

I was round Kirroughtree today, did the red. The trails were mostly clear with a few deep patches of soft snow and a few trees down but 100% rideable.

The ride out was far more interesting though, afew drifts still hanging around.

So has anyone ordered these yet?
Leisure lakes say they’re in stock, but are they? CRC amongst other places aren’t getting stock till the 19th.
I’ve got some shoes in size 10 and some in 11 and ideally want to get a 10.5 from CRC but I’m just too impatient!

It’s not a great time of year to sell bikes but CX is riding the crest of the fad wave just now, there was CX world champs on Ch4 last night. Some nice brown line racing and pushing up hills.
I don’t want to hate it but I just cant see the point.

don’t hope/shimano use different fluids though?

They do But I read something about the mineral oil wont damage seals for DOT but DOT will eat through seals for mineral oil.

And at the time I didn’t have the spare money, you couldn’t get cheap calipers, it wasn’t much more expensive to buy a whole new system Vs £8 for seals to do both brakes.

    It worked out well
