    Cheers for the help.
I’ll give the poppet valve a good looking over.
The post is still compressing with or without the lever attached, it should be stuck up with no lever, right? Which made me think it’s the post internals going wrong.
It’s a stealth A2 post and has the new style B2 IFP and was wondering if this needs to be set in at 50mm or the normal 30mm as there is a bit of size difference between them.

A little update if anyone was interested.
After a “quick” 25 min of being on hold with my insurance, windscreen cover is for all glass, wasn’t clear in the documents (and that’s how they get you!)
Will have to pay £75 excess for a new window or £10 if it can be repaired. Autoglass booked but not till the 30th so will see what happens then.

2011, I thought about running silicone round it, the car is in pretty good nick so might just get it done properly.
Got windscreen cover on my insurance but I’m guessing that’s front only.

Zippy, I’v got the ISM PR2 and it’s ok not great, feels really boxy and square and no matter where i sit on it I can always feel the diamond shaped sides.

Might have to try the doctors then.

Got a short stem on my bike (Capra, had it for 2 1/2y)

Not weight on the perineum had one saddle that pressed there before and don’t really forget that feeling, posture could well be adding to the problem, had to buy a foam roller for my back due to being hunched over my desk and scope at work.

Bars are lower than saddle but as high as they go (tried lower as well) with the adjustment I’ve got.

Not tried the Spesh Power but had a Phenom, just taken an ISM off to try a an Ergon. Was out on Friday but still sore so didn’t want to try out a new saddle just yet.

    Edit

    Yes, all new saddles

Had this happen to my car. It’s not bolted on but pushed onto studs, which look like rusted bolts but are fine. The fixing washers have rusted away and the heat shield has fallen past them. I pulled the old washers off (all but one which wouldn’t budge) treated the posts with some anti rust stuff. Bought some generic fixing washers from eBay and fixed it back on.

That’s exactly what it is, I thought it was rusted bolts! The heat shield is still in good condition with the old washers attached just with no grip.
Had no idea press fit washers were a thing, ordered some from ebay, wouldn’t get it done this weekend anyway I’m not lying in the snow/slush to do it.
    Cheers.

Starting to think I should put wire round it so its tied to the box, wouldn’t rattle and do the same job right?

    racingsnail

There’s nothing to tie to, a crumbly bit of bolt left, i tried holding it on with some copper wire wound round but was a losing battle.

It’s an Alfa Mito QV, I know I could probably get away without it but would rather get it on properly with new studs. but doesn’t look like its happening if i cant get it in the garage i trust.
also cant even slide it off and deal with it some other time wont get over the box

Not quite in the same range as the others but I’ve had a Tannoy 5.1 setup for a while and really like them, not much need for anything more. Had a pair of Tannoy floor standers for nearly 15 years and these save so much space and get a better sound. I don’t listen to much music anymore but for the PS4 and movies it still makes me smile randomly. (surround is so much better than stereo!)

Anybody else only getting 20 sec of video before “ouch technical difficulties” and needing a refresh?

Yes, you will need the IFP tool.

Read the service manual a couple of times to try and understand it. It makes a lot more sense when everything is out in front of you and it’s not that complicated.

    Edit
If your post is 5 years old it’ll probably be needing a new top cap as the bush will be worn.

forget about videos this’ll see you right,
    Click

You’ll need some good soft jaws for the vice and a way of measuring the fluid height, I used a piece of copper pipe and silicon hose attached to a syringe.

Does anyone else have to horse their valves up with a pair of pliers to get them to seal?
The last time I got a puncture (gunk had dried up) I had to walk as I couldn’t get the valve undone to put in my emergency tube in.
Now I need to carry pliers with me.

    Not a laptop.

The board has basic graphics ability built in to it, 1080p video through HDMI, good enough as it’s not for gaming.

It does have a slot for a separate graphics card.

It also has a monitor (DVI) connection but I’m trying to get someone to let me borrow a monitor to try it.

    No beeps from the bios.
Ghostlymachine not sure what you mean current connection is HDMI straight from the board, no card to pop out.

HDMI to receiver to TV tried a few combos of working cables to TV definitely not that.
Can’t check bios settings as no display

The board is an ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3

Thanks for the offer sobriety but I’m in Glasgow, the on board card is an ati radeon 3000 and would prefer something else as they seem to have stopped doing updates years ago. So it leaves a nice border on the TV due to the under/overscan which I did sort by changing the registery values but the PC would eventually correct itself.

I’ve got the 100% Brisker, Meh, I think you’ll be disappointed if you’re expecting a warm glove and once they get wet the cold cuts right through them.

Drove maybe 18 miles work and back 40mph max, no rust on it seems good condition. Maybe its punctured as well didn’t seem soft when it was on though.

I had a mandatory work barbecue since we finish early on a Friday, nobody wanted to go but “hey we’ll have beers” when everybody drives to work, we all just chatted about the things we’d prefer be do on this nice sunny day wasted.

I’ve got that exact tv the black is good on mine, sounds like yours is faulty, have you tried the HD deep colour setting to see if it makes a difference? also it’s not so good if your looking at it from an angle. And the smart stuff is crap aswell

Hi Pete, a pic of a bike in the back would be excellent, if it’s not too much trouble.

Well this is making some disheartening reading, after giving up on trying to find a decent van, the Mito and Giulietta are the only two cars I’ve seen I like enough to think about buying.

Rockhopper, do you think you got a bad one? Alfas seem to have a bit of a reliability lottery some work fine and others are awful.

Had my 147 for over 9 years and it’s been great and I really wanted an other Alfa, I’d better get out and find a few to test and see for myself

I need to take both wheels off my Capra to get it in the 147.

I was supposed to be taking a test drive of a Giulietta on Friday but I think it’s sold now.

Steve, what made the Mito so bad to drive? I haven’t driven one yet.

Passed you guys on the A75 outside of twynholm in the pissing rain, looking miserable. Stay strong and keep up the good work.

I bought an Alpaca wool baselayer once, supposedly better than merino. It wasn’t, horribly rough and itchy and shrunk to barbie doll proportions the first time it was washed and was stupidly expensive. Alpaca wool though, “I needed it.”

What frame is it? You’re not using a front post mount on the rear on anything crazy like that?

    racingsnail

sitting up too high now? that will cause some problems when the pads wear.

    racingsnail

That’s a shame, is there a time limit on the £500 frame is it a deal or crash replacement? Not sure if I could trust a repair like that.

shim it I would say depends how much height difference or an avid 165 mount if sram are still awkward with giving things an extra 5mm
