Someone talking about the Queens Shilling???

Walked in there one time with a group of mates only to look around and find the place full of women.

That was one quick pint before moving on.

Me and my mate managed 10 laps each but I’m sooo full of respect for the people who were riding round in trainers and bikes that most of us on here wouldn’t look twice at.

I managed to miss most of the bad weather apart from the rain/hail stuff that drowned me from 7 o’clock on Sunday although thankfully I was hiding back in the tent when it properly came down about 9.

Anyone know the guy with the Rolhoff that I think was on a green bike. He was seriously fast downhill.

Another thank you to Neil for organising something that must have been pretty difficult for him too. Cheers fella.

Make sure she takes plenty of warm clothes with her.

Me and my mate got the wives to camp in 2006 and both of them said it was the coldest they’d ever been and that was with them wearing all their clothes in their sleeping bags.

    I stayed pretty toasty though.

I’ll be there on my ancient canondale if I finish putting it back together in time.

It’ll be my first time doing CLIC solo hopefully not breaking my seatpost at 12.20 on Saturday like I did in 2007. :-)

Mangotsfield and Emersons Green are only around 3 miles or so depending on which part you live in / need to travel too. Both are pretty good. Houses in Mangotsfield are about 50-60 years old and Emersons Green is not a huge estate and around about 10 years old.

Bradley Stoke is about the same distance from Filton and is a HUGE estate that has been growing since it was started about 20 years ago.

Long Ashton to Filton is about 10 miles each way but you either have to fight the Bristol traffic (not very nice) or use the Bristol – Bath cycle path – the first couple of miles at the Bristol end can be a bit risky though.

I thought it was an interesting race everywhere and if all racing incidents were penalised then I guess mr. barrichello would have spent quite a bit of time pootling down the pit lane.

there’s less places to fall down and the descents tend to be drawn out and less steep

That’s as long as she doesn’t mind a descent with nothing but a steep scree slope on one side of her all the way down to the trail centre. Maybe not the best place to build confidence.

    All IMHO of course.

Sent back a lightweight hub which cracked around the flange and they asked what sort of riding I did as they were going to send out a free replacement and wanted to make sure I didn’t have the problem again.

Just got in from seeing the script in Bristol.

Not my choice but the SO wanted to go and I was impressed. Seemed like they really enjoyed it.

Each to their own I suppose.

I guess Brian Moore is as bad if you’re not English and I realise Davies is very knowledgeable he just annoys me greatly.

Oh and CFH I am a southern softie who used to love playing rugby when you could actually wheel a scrum and you didn’t have to recycle the ball in about 2 seconds.

IMHO it was a better game when the forwards had to ruck and maul and cuddle one another on the floor for ages but that’s probably because I used to be in the front row.

I was watching for 20 minutes but really can’t abide Jonathon Davies commentating.

Is it just me being English or is it him being so pro Welsh. So he loves his country – fair enough but surely when he’s being paid to talk about a game being broadcast on the BBC (who are so politically correct it’s almost unbelieveable) he should try and contain himself.

Granted the second Scottish player who was knocked out cold deserved to be sin binned but when Davies kept repeatedly going on about a yellow card while the guy’s still be attended to on the pitch was at the least unprofessional.

Couldn’t take any more than that and switched off and I was quite looking forward to watching a bit of Union.

Fully apreciate that but all the tracks were fresh.

Looks just like it did when you put 100 or so people around a course in the middle of winter just like when we used to race in the 90’s (dont laugh, I’m old)

I’ve got egg beaters on my geared bikes and candy’s on the singlespeed.

Broken one egg beater about two years ago but the candy’s have been neglected badly and I’ve never had a problem.

Did the 50k last year and didn’t realise quite how ill I was until we got to the top of the first climb.

After that my mates thought it was funny to charge up every hill then sit and wait for me to wind myself up in a proper little granny gear.

Last time the course used quite a lot of roads opposed to tank tracks which was good for me and we took the road through Imber by the church which meant we actually saw some non-bikey people too.

I think the course route depends on the MOD deciding what can and can’t be used but I’ve enjoyed it each time I’ve entered.

think she’d have had trouble, it doesn’t start for another 14 hours.

Then again she could be outside waiting for 05:00 start in the morning.
