Thanks guys well its just done another 20 miles to work and it doesn’t feel any different, so hopefully got away with it, i have also read that this snake oil substance may be 2 stroke oil, is this worth investigating

Ive got the terrex approach shoe, have used it on the bike a few times when my 5.10’s have been wet, the grip is just as good but slighly less protection, hower they are better for walking in naturally, i will probably go for the terrex cross trail when the time comes to replace my 5.10’s

Ok everyone thank you for your votes. The LB won. However after working out the LB costs with potential import tax, paypal fees, tubeless valves, tape etc it really is stretching my budget to the max, and i agree with wanting better hubs for the LB rims.

So the solution is to buy the EX1501 wheelset and hammer them over the summer with the intention of buying some LB rims and build them onto the dt hubs apparently same as DT240s over the winter.

Thanks for all your help troops. Much appreciated

I’m not entirely sold on buying from china, how do they deal with warranty etc, then there are customs etc on top.

If it is just a lower leg service you are doing then everything is the same as air

Something that crossed my mind was to turn the 26 into a DH weapon, but i quickly realised that i cant do that as i’m skint

Funnily enough i am in the exact same position as the OP, i quickly decided to keep the 650b purely for future proofing which is slightly irritating as i have a mountain of 26″ tyres and a spare hope rear wheel for it and its a nicer colour i felt the 650b had slightly more reach but apart from that i couldnt tell the difference.

Ive took the best bits from both bikes and built them onto the 275 and am at the minute i have the 26 for sale, but am having trouble selling it.

@ Droverscycles they are £585 with tires from BikeDiscount.de so i presumed that if they were available without tyres they would cost around the £500 mark. That is my budget at the minute. I really want the Crossmax XL but i am struggling to look past the superstar carbons at the minute

I can do the lacing on wheels and the initial tension i normally just have my LBS finish them off, my default is normally flows on hopes but the weight is putting me off a little

I dont think you have a leg to stand in as regards anything from the shop / warranty. Yes the shop should be ashamed that they gave it to you with a cable like that. as said above fox forks require periodic inspection by the user, if you are not comfortable inspecting them yourself, you should have taken them to your LBS who would have picked up on the issue before it got that bad.

It looks like its new CSU time for you which isnt cheap

Thank you all for your support, on other forums i have been on there is a probationary period before people are allowed to sell in the classified section, for example a member has to have contributed 20 posts before they are allowed to sell on the forum. Is there any admin staff here that could maybe look into this option.

I started the thread as i wanted to be sure that I wasn’t being a d**k about it. I will upload pictures once i figure out how to embed them in a post

There are vertical scratches all the way round just above the seal head which i would say is from dirt getting trapped under the seal. I was expecting a post in good condition as it was described as only being 12 months old, and was serviced 5 months ago and not used since

I’d rather not name and shame just yet, incase the seller puts it right, the scratches may or may not affect the operation / sealing only time will tell, the being childish comment was only one of the many commical phrases, i have asked for either a full or partial refund from paypal and am confident i will get a favourable outcome, as i have plenty of email evidence to show that the seller is not cooperating.

@Bearback, i have done that with the outer bearing in the freehub but cannot get to the inner one to strip it out. The cartridge bearing seam to be really jammed in there, the thing that troubles me is that i cant get the old bearings out. Ive really use alot of force and cant get them to shift

Yeah i thought that as well any other fox ive serviced have been sealed but what makes me curious is on the damper side the oil had no hint of float fluid and the foam ring were still pretty soaked but the air spring side was very blue, ive put them back together with 30ml of green in each leg and everything is working as it should
