Think I probably will do, just sucks being without them! Got a race this weekend too. Just hoping they will be alright for that

A ha! Twigged it. The barrel adjuster on the shifter was playing up. Even when fully wound in, the cable housing was staying out (giving full stretch). Meaning that the barrel adjuster made no difference once the cable was attached so the chain was struggling to make it to the big ring which resulted in the chain dropping.

Well after several hours fannying around I may have sorted it. No idea how though!

I played with the limit screws, height etc but nothing. It seemed to drop off the little ring whilst attempting to change it up to the big ring?! Doesn’t make sense to me that.

But alas! Just as I was about to set fire to it, it seems to have fixed itself. Which is quite worrying as i’ve no idea what the problem was . Shifts fine now, no drops (as of yet but my driveway and street aren’t particularly rough).

Just don’t want it to drop again whilst riding in anger and bugger the frame up.

Same problem for me. Also noted on the review section on the appstore

Also used this set up for the first time last week. Pumped up to 75psi in my case and works everytime

I had a 25L compressor but took it back for a refund after making my own coke bottle style. Works a treat, seats the tyre everytime. Pump it up to about 75 psi. Cost of a bottle 17p to a compressor at £100+

I do quite like the idea of fell running but can never see me going “i’ll leave the bike and take the trainers today”.

Sounds like it should be pretty close then.

I rode the said “Segement” the other day and it took 19 min 57 sec. However my legs were pretty shot from a big ride a few days before it. On the other hand there are a couple of gates, 2 of them were held open for me. I think a fresh set of legs should give me an extra minute perhaps.

Although the gradient is an average of 6.1% there are 2 very short downhill sections, probably a few hundred yards at most but I can probably hit 25 mph on them which should give me a breather, the last half a mile is much steeper at 11.3% average gradient and sections up to 25%+.

Wonder if he wants to race me back down!

Nearly made the same mistake….. Why won’t it switch to x2 mode…. Ah need to switch it into the middle ring first!

Just had a closer inspection. Indeed there is a little switch underneath it! Problem solved!

    Cheers :-)

Forgot to mention that I’ll be getting a 2×10 specific front mech. It’s just the shifter that I’m not sure about

The Peak District isn’t a trail centre? Really? I had no idea!

Too much “maintenance” going on at the moment. Too many great trails have been ruined in The Peak

I have a fantastic mouse catcher. It also catches rats, rabbits, squirrels, birds. The problem is it catches them when they are outside and brings them in.

The event i have on Sunday is in Edale (for those of you that know the area). I guess I could park at the top near Mam Tor and then bed them down the huge road descent on the way…. Sounds like a plan to me

I’d imagine 200+ riders is what is expected on any given weekend of the year in the peak district anyway. Besides many of the fragile tracks are marked “out of bounds” anyway. The organises do their homework before hand

Does the compound make any difference to wether of not you bed them in? eg Organic, sintered etc?

Ive just intalled Shimano’s own XT pads (what compound are these?!) I’ve not had much luck with Superstar pads so far.

Yep I do race XC and ride other competitive events.

I have an event on Sunday and have just installed new pads and wont get chance to ride before then. Will I die a horrible death if I dont bed them in?

I thought they were a little “geeky” at first. However in reality, they are just flat out XC races!

I cut mine with blunt snips, then dropped the remote on the floor by accident. It still didnt need a bleed

I did it last year (enduro). Fantastic weekend.

I did the whole route on the Saturday practice which in hindsight probably wasnt the best thing to do. Lots of people racing the enduro just rode the quickest route between the 4 stages on the Saturday practice in order to conserve energy for the Sunday.

It was mega windy too, like properly windy! At one point you could hardly push your bike let alone ride it. It was like flying a giant bike kite!

The stages themself were really creative. Nothing like anything else I have ridden.

The Mary Towneley loop is supposed to be a challenging ride. Between 5-8 hours. I’m planning on doing it soon. Ultimately i want to work up to the Pennine Bridleway Double, from Middleton Top to the MTL and back which comes in at about 197 miles. Probably over 3/4 days or so for me

Change of plan. Forks now going to Mojo. Postage is only £7.50 compared to x2 100 mile round trips to the bike shop. Spoke to a nice lady at Mojo who said they would be happy to sort them for me for the cost of postage to them.

Out of curiosity, what would be a decent upgrade/alternative from these forks?

    r8jimbob88

Well i’ve spoken to the bike shop and it sounds like they are aware of this issue. I’m taking the bike back to them this weekend where they have confirmed they will sort it under warranty.

So in the last 2 months i’ve had a new frame on warranty (original one cracked), the reverb packed in so managed to get a new one of them on warranty too and now the forks. I’ve practically got a new bike! The only original parts are the moment is the drivetrain!

I serviced the forks a few months ago so they have the correct amount of oil in them. I’ll see what the bike shop say, worst case I’ll start looking at some sort of damper upgrade

I’ve done a little more research online about the 2013 CTD damper and it seems to be just quite poor in general. Does anyone know how I go about upgrading it to the 2014 CTD damper (supposed to be a lot better).

I guess I was just desperate to ride my bike when I first got it. Now the weather has turned a tad shite I dont mind sending it back to the shop (its an 80 mile round trip which is a pain in the arse). I’ll give them a call at lunch.
