Wonder why he changed his mind?

I’m routing for Mark McPhillip’s, he’s a local to me. I’ve told his wife to tell him that he’s got to be back and in shape for the local midweek XC series, starting tomorrow…

Anyone know what Ilan Rubinstein is doing? Assume he’s got some very different plans or is very, very lost!

Mark McPhillips is currently tucking into a nice pie at the Lochinver Pie Shop. Planning on a few more miles before biving

I’ve wondered if it was possible to do that. I wonder no more!

I’m really looking forward to them. Im also doing the Nutcracker series this year too.

I hope Chorlton is a little less muddy this year….

Im hoping to do them all again like I did last year.

Clayton vale is a great little course! There always seems to be a pretty good turnout, quite a few enter on the day I think.

Wiggles DHB all day long for me. Excellent quality and reasonable prices. Loads to choose from

Pah, I normally look forward to ‘bombing’ it down linnets clough or ‘gunning’ it up old hall lane.

Wondered what was going on there when I passed last night.

Lots of police and an area cordoned off at the top of Etherow Park on Glossop road last night too. Wonder if it’s related at all

You need an internal routed frame. Unless you want to drill it, I wouldnt!

How’s your knee holding up Mark?

Mine still had that problem with the black collar

I had this problem and it was replaced under warranty. I tried a bleed etc but no joy. Eventually it just wouldn’t go down at all

Rich, what’s that descent like at the 8 mile mark?

How many people usually enter the 30 miler? Does each rider get given an overall time that it took to complete it?

EDIT – just answered my own question by looking at the website!

    Very nice….

Very true. Perhaps a better method would be a turbo and a second rear wheel with slick tyre on it. I was just surprised at how many rollers there were on Sunday compared to turbos.

    Cheers people that’s useful.

In terms of using rollers (something that i’ve never done), would it be a problem if I jumped on them after a lap of the course with muddy tyres? I’d rather not bring a second bike. The only chance I get to ride the course if often a long time before the race starts meaning that I would have to do that first and then jump on the rollers after that.

I’m staying in Eskdale for a short break in a few weeks. Taking the mountain bike and the roadie. Going to do W-E, great Langdale and then back E-W.

    Should be fun!

Riding last night – Desdending farmers track, nobody about, 40mph and chicken jumps out. Hit the brakes and skidded for about 100 yards whilst the chicken screamed ample amounts of chicken fear very loudly. I screamed too. Positives = both I and the chicken are ok

Riding to work this morning. Car overtakes, hits brakes and turns left into side road. Positives = I managed to brake enough to avoid death

Thanks. I’ve e-mailed West Lakes Adventure. The more I think about it the more I fancy giving it a go!

Excellent, thanks all. I’ve used the 810 to navigate on roads before with great success. I’m going to try it off road this evening (mostly off road) but want to take a few detours including joining the course further on. (stealing a course from a friend that started from his house rather than mine!)

    Beautiful evening for it.

Excellent, thats what I wanted. So if I leave the course at any point I dont have to rejoin it where I left it?

Basically I want to follow a route but take detour before joining it again further on.

I’ve got 2 hardtails. A Cannondale F-Si and an On One 45650b. The difference between them is massive. Yes the Cannondale is much, much faster when your giving it some but the 456 is much, much more comfortable. I wouldn’t like to ride the Cannondale for a big day out, I’d be beaten to a pulp on it!

I’m reasonably fit and regularly do 50 -70 mile loops in the Peak District. Most have been on a 120mm travel full sus.

I did the MTL last year and it’s defiantly one of the toughest 50 mile loops you’ll do. It’s mostly off road and very rough / rocky. I remember thinking it would be particularly grim on a hardtail.

Sounds like you pinch flatted it. What PSI were you running?

You can still get pinch flats tubeless, I’ve had several :-( I’m going to try higher PSI from now on

    Garmin 200 doesn’t have Ant+ so can’t use HRM

I’ve just bought an 810. Haven’t had chance to use the segment feature yet. Am I right in tbj ting that it’ll only work with Garmin Segments and not Strava ones? Unless strava ones are loaded as a course instead?

Thanks all. Sounds like that’s sorted it.

Another question whilst we’re are it….

When importing a TCX or a GPX (from rwgps), if I turn off the VP it still shows on the elevation page? Two dots, one being myself and the other just seems to tick along at a steady pace. How do I turn that off so that it only shows me on the elevation page?!

    Thanks again

I’d previously dismissed the idea of a turbo only bike but now you’ve mentioned it…. It really does make sense. Especially given how cheap some of the decathlon bikes are selling on eBay.

There so many out there. Really want one where I can use my own pedals and want it to be as realistic to riding a real bike as possible.

I dont think the 29er inbred comes as a complete bike? Would prefer not to have to build one. The 29er Parkwood looks good however
