Just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of the correct ANT+ dongle adapted for a lightening ipad / iphone socket?

I’ve got the old 15 pin(?) iPad so the dongle just plugs straight in but I understand I need an adapter to use it on a newer device with the lightening socket?

    Thanks

Just thought I’d chirp in and give a thumbs up to trainerroad.

I’ve always known how effective trainerroad / turbo training can be but I’ve always ridden outdoors all year round so never really got into the swing of a turbo plan or similar.

I broke my collar bone about 7 weeks ago pretty badly so I’m not going to be able to ride outdoors for the rest of the year. I started the short power build a few weeks back and I’m really getting into it. I did the sufferfest FTP test and was pleased to see I’m still in pretty good shape considering I’ve been off the bike for almost a month.

Once I’ve finished this 8 week plan I’ll move onto the XC short track plan.

I’m already 100% sure I’ll be fitter than I’ve ever been before after this.

Roll on next years XC races, I’ll be ready to dish out some pain like never before!

Hope you can see this – https://www.strava.com/activities/301896713

I can’t seem to find the website that documents it for some reason. I believe a map is available from Roman Lakes in Marple.

I rode it from my house which added a little more distance to it. Easy enough to start in Hope though

    Roman lakes 100k challenge.

I did it in May this year. 10 hours, 74 miles and 11,000ft ascent. Should keep you busy!

    Thanks all.

Well I’ve spent ALL day searching the internet and finally narrowed it down to one of these Ekol stoves.

    http://www.defrastoves.com

Seem to get reasonably good reviews and tick all the boxes – 12mm hearth, Defra etc. Local supplier and installer not too far from me either so might pop down for a chat tomorrow.

Either the Ekol Clarity or the Ekol Crystal. Both come in 5 / 8 / 12KW. One is Cast Iron and the other Steel / Cast iron door.

Would I be right in thinking that the higher the KW rating the quicker i’d be going through wood?

I’m sure a 20mm one would be fine.

Regulations say that the hearth must be 250mm thick though

I might be wrong. I really need to ask an expert but its near impossible to speak to someone! I’ve left messages and emails with 4 different people and not one has come back to me…

I was thinking the extra weight of a big thick hearth and the stove would be too much for a non constructional floor area? We could pull up the floorboards and fill it up with concrete but that sounds expensive and difficult.

I was wondering just how much the commute does take its toll, as short as it is. The reality being that it’s rarely much more than 12 hours between getting off the bike and getting back on it.

Then adding turbo sessions on top in the evenings just leaves me spanked for the weekend.

I’ve just realised that the question is now pretty much pointless anyway! I won’t be up to riding outside for a couple more months at least (real bad break) so I will be walking to work from next week. I can however use the turbo.

I’ll ask the question again in December and I’ll be able to answer it myself!

The more the merrier. Are you having one installed into a conservatory?

I guess they only deal with serious stupid people. Who on earth pays £95 for a quote not having a clue how much the total job will cost?

If they have to charge to provide quotes then there is something wrong with their business model. They should price their jobs sufficiently to cover the costs of quoting on jobs that may or may not turn into real jobs.

The company I called are actually a particular large nationwide chain which to me makes charging for quotes ridiculous.

    Thanks both.

It’s going to be far enough away from the house to not cause an issue on that front (I think it’s 2.7 meters+ that it needs to be). The flue needs to be a certain height above the highest part of the conservatory however.

I’ve emailed a local company and hope to have a quote from them on Monday. I should have done this months ago, everywhere is mad busy at the moment!

    Thanks both.

I’m uploading directly to Trainerroad (broken collarbone recently so no riding this year) and Strava pulls it directly from Trainerroad. I was hoping Garmin would pull it from Strava or Trainerroad automatically but it appears not.

I’m not using a Garmin device, just the Trainerroad app on my iPad. I normally just use Garmin Express.

The Trainerroad app is excellent btw!

Damn I was hoping I’d be ok to use the “Sorry officer, I didnt mean to hit the cyclist, it’s not my fault. I couldn’t turn the wheel to avoid him because I have a broken collarbone”.

Do not fear, I am intelligent. The question was geared towards the insurance aspect. The common sense aspect still prevails.

Well I sat in the car earlier on the drive. In terms of what’s difficult, lifting my right arm is generally difficult but more through weakness/stiffness than pain.

I can adjust my seat, hold the wheel, use windscreen wipers and lights etc. I can look left and right reasonably well too.

Sounds like I’m right as rain almost!

It’s my right collarbone so the seatbelt sits right over the wound but doesn’t aggravate it at all.

I reckon I’d be a bit slow and a three point turn for example but apart from that…

The surgeon did say that he wants me to keep weight off it for as long as possible through fear of bending the titanium plate. I don’t think driving is particularly weight bearing though.

Just popped over to my docs (walked there  )

Apparently just use common sense, there is no hard and fast rule and no such letter to confirm if I can or can’t drive again. If I can drive, I can if you get my drift.

Either way I’ll play it safe. I’ve got an appointment at the fracture clinic next Tuesday so I’ll mention it to them too and see what they say.

Well I slept from 10:30 pm until 6am which is better than I normally get at home!!! Was woken a few times for blood pressure but that was it.

Had some morphine about 2am and managed to get up and walk to the loo. Just very stiff and a little swollen at the mo. I smell pretty horrific too…..! Need a shower! Hopefully I’ll get to see the consultant this morning and I really want to see the X-rays.

First ever broken bone and first visit to the hospital. To say I was a little nervous about the op I guess was an understatement but in hindsight I’ve no idea what the worry was about. That being said, my best advice – just don’t fall off in the first place! I was a 30 min walk to the closest road when I came off and had to walk it on my own. I managed to ring for an ambulance which took a further 30 mins or so to get there. It was very close to being an open fracture with some very critical skin. No idea what I’d have done if that thing was poking out, I’m not one for bloody situations like that!

Cheers all. Op took 3.5 hours. Just back in the ward now. Much more comfortable than I was!

Haven’t seen consultant yet so no idea what they’ve actually done. One of the surgeons sons turned out to be s friend of a friend who I’ve ridden with on occasion. The other surgeon was also an avid local mtb’er. She said she hates it when fellow mtbers come in as she knows it’s only a matter of time until she hurts herself!

Fortunately I’ve raced most of the year so I’m in pretty good shape. Last race of the season was supposed to be today however…

I’ve got a road bike and turbo with Trainerroad on standby. Plan is to keep as much fitness as poss and start the new year in better shape than ever…. a little optimistic perhaps.

Any ideas how long normally until I can drive?

    r8jimbob88

Mine does too. No idea why. I rarely use the 42t anyway so isn’t a problem. Besides, if I do use it it’s normally on something very steep and back peddling doesn’t help in those situations!

I’ve been looking at the 325d touring, seems to tick all of the boxes quite comfortably. I assume the 325d and the 525d have the same engine?

Sounds good, i’ll give it a whirl.

One more questions (for now anyway). On the iMac I had the ability to drag and drop videos into the workout. Sufferfest vids for example. I assume I cant do that on the app?

I recently bought a 27.2 KS Lev – its going back for a full refund.

Firstly, there is no way to top up the air as there is no access to a valve (there is on the larger diameter versions).

Secondly it worked fine on the first ride but seems to have given up the ghost since. Now its very temperamental and either doesn’t come back up, wont go down, stops half way.

The return speed also varies from slow to very very slow and often needs some encouragement to extend back to full height.

I would be interested in an x-fusion as a replacement. Does anyone know if the lever and the remote versions are the same thing? I cant seem to find many lever operated online which would be preferable to me.

    (sorry to hijack)

Haha sounds like me. This year my wheels grew from 26in to 29in, my rear shock vanished and front travel shrunk from 120mm to 100mm!

I had a great start as usual and went backwards from there! Managed to hang on to 11th in the racer cat but had some damn good racing throughout.

Was good fun last night. Those turns were super grippy!
