Not really. It’s just a joke. You know, like on Top Gear.

“I absolutely believe in these debates and think they are great.” – David Cameron, Sky news, 14 April 2010

“I think it is great we are having these debates and I hope they go someway to restore some of the faith and some of the trust into our politics because we badly need that once again in this country.” – David Cameron, Leaders Debate, ITV, 15 April 2010

“Look, I’ve been calling for these debates for five years, I challenged Blair, I challenged Brown, I challenged when I was ahead in the polls, and when I was behind in the polls. I just think they are a good thing.” – David Cameron, Daily Telegraph, 17 April 2010

“I’ve always wanted these debates to happen. I mean they happen in every country. They even happen in Mongolia for heaven’s sake and it’s part of the modern age that we should be in.” – David Cameron, BBC3, 21 April 2010

“I think these debates are here to stay. They clearly engage people in politics which is what we need.” – David Cameron, News of the World, 2 May 2010

“If you want the TV debates to go ahead you have got to do it fairly between the main parties and look, having said I want them, having challenged people to have them and quite right, Sky saying let’s have them, it would have been feeble to find some excuse to back out so I thought we’ve got to stick at this, we’ve got to do it. It will be challenging, it was, but I think I came through them.” – David Cameron, Sky News, 3 May 2010

“On TV debates, I’m in favour of them, I think they’re good and we should go on having them and I will certainly play my part in trying to make that happen.” – David Cameron, Coalition mid term review, 7th Jan 2012

“I think TV debates are good. I enjoyed them last time – particularly the last one.” – David Cameron, Press Association, 10th December 2012

“You know we’ve been going on for years about let’s have these debates and I think it really vindicated having that. I think people will be asking themselves why on earth, what was all the fuss about? Why on earth didn’t we have these things before? We should have done and it’s great they’re underway now and I think we’ll have them in every election in the future and I think that’s a really good thing for our democracy.” – David Cameron, BBC Radio Manchester, 16 April 2014

“Blair pulled out against Major and Major pulled out against Kinnock, Thatcher pulled out against Callaghan. I’ve just always believed that these need to happen. It’s good for democracy. It’s good to see.” – David Cameron, BBC Radio Manchester, 16 April 2014

    Jon Hopkins – Immunity

I guess Jon Hopkins probably wins.

I found this album last week after hearing the title track on Gideon Coe’s 6Music show. Really really good.

There is a lot of good info on running styles and impact forces in this book:

    http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13645495-anatomy-for-runners

My 2p is if you run with whatever feels natural, and make sure you are not overstriding, you can’t go far wrong. People with a massive overstride and heel strike, and people with a really forced “running on tip toes” forefoot strike, look equally awkward and inefficient.

Good. I cycle along Oxford Road every day and the number of people riding bikes (I hesitate to call them cyclists) who jump red lights is ridiculous.

    Not.

Just get out and run. And anyway it’s where your foot strikes that is important, not how it strikes.

I wouldn’t get too hung up on stuff like drop, just get a pair of shoes that fit your feet and you like the colour :-)

I am a fan of the Mizuno Wave Harrier for trail and moderate fell. Full on fell would be Inov-8 Mudclaw.

Went a few weeks ago, great fun. Full face helmets and elbow/knee pads are compulsory but they have them there (ours was a group booking so we got them and bikes included).

We went from total novices to doing full laps from the 5m start ramp out of the gates within a two hour session.

I use an Ortlieb document case that I’ve had for about 10 years now and is still watertight.

How many triathletes do you think could handle a tt bike without falling off? Slacker angles keep the things a bit more triathlete friendly, different seating position to bias which muscles you use – tri bikes have no uci rules to bother about either.

    So fairly big differences.

Sorry mate but you are talking complete cobblers. Triathletes pioneered the use of steeper seat tube angles, not slacker, and these have now been adopted by most of the UK TT scene (where there are also no UCI rules to worry about).

To the OP, almost everyone uses “TT bike” and “Tri bike” interchangeably so don’t worry about that. This article will tell you most of what you need to know about fitting a Tri/TT bike. The key point is that you are rotating your whole body forward so that the hip angle stays the same as on a road bike.

I once finished an (incident free) SQT at Manchester and got chatting to some riders from ManTri about to do a 2 hour private/club booking. Because they were all triathletes, naturally I took the p— out of them on account of there being two corners to negotiate per lap.

Turns out I was proved right as, when they were all lapping to the whistle, the first four riders touched wheels and went down resulting in broken bikes and collarbones.

Yes, my collarbone! Bluddy triatherletes

I had a great one last Saturday, approaching a mini roundabout where I’m going to turn right I signaled then looked over my shoulder. Seeing there was a car about to overtake me I didn’t pull out and waited for it to go past me. The next thing I know the car is alongside me with the passenger window open and both the lady driver and male passenger are screaming abuse at me. We both stop at the roundabout and apparently I had “looked at her”! Explaining calmly that I had done nothing of the sort I did get a brief apology from the bloke before they drove off. There are some bloody strange people out there that’s for sure!

Cheers guys. Currently there isn’t a washing machine at all! I queried this as I thought it a bit weird and apparently the current owner uses the launderette. This did make me a bit suspicious that a washing machine couldn’t be fitted but surely that can’t be right (it’s a 2nd floor flat)

It’s a nice flat at a decent price apart from this though.

    Gas meter IIRC.

If you thought road cyclist liked rules, you’re in for a treat at the track! I’d just find a velodrome a little less up it’s own arse personally.

Yeah, because velodromes are ten a penny in the UK aren’t they!

To the OP – being able to ride safely in a large group on an indoor velodrome requires a different skillset to road/MTB. It’s generally simple stuff (maintain a constant speed on the blue line, look before you change line) but it only takes one person who isn’t competent to make a training session on the boards very sketchy indeed.

The best ultra running textbook is probably Relentless Forward Progress

The name of it gives away the main principle of doing ultras, just keep moving forward in the best way possible, be that running or walking.

Integrating with PayPal for payments is dead easy. At the end of your shopping cart process you just construct a form that posts to PayPal with details of the transaction. Then you need to set up a listener URL to received PayPal’s Instant Payment Notification callback; you get this when a payment has been successfully made and use it to mark the transaction as “paid” (or whatever) in your database.

And that future is….. CX gear ratios on a road bike: a 38/46 double chainset with 13-28 cassette.

46-13 is a terribly low top gear, you’ll spin that out after a few seconds when going downhill.

I’m currently running a compact with 36/50 and an 11-28 cassette; avoids the bigger jump between chainrings of a standard compact and 50-11 is actually a higher gear than 53-12 so doesn’t spin out on the descents.
