Have a look at http://www.cultpens.co.uk they are who I use for all my pen needs

If I had to guess as to some brands that might be worth having a look at van Graff Faber Castell at the high end of Kaweco at the more utilitarian end. I have several Kaweco pens and I have completely replaced my montblanc pens

If you’re anywhere near West London, I have an impact wrench that I use for changing car wheels… I think it puts out about 750 nm of torque undoing… That doesn’t shift it. Nothing will

Actually, thinking about it if you just pop down to your local independent garage. I bet you they will either let you use the air impact wrench or one of their mechanics can do it in a few minutes…

Be worth a try just to pop along?

Wera bit set for £10 on amazon

The delivery seems to be a little long but I received mine yesterday and it seems a genuine product. I seem to recall paying well over £10 just for the bit holder

The other day I was putting a new tire on my wife’s bike, I seated the tire manually and I was just injecting the sealant through the valve but forgot to check that the tire bead was seated all the way around and not caught on the back end of the valve…. To say I squirted 60 mL of sealant straight down my leg and not into the tire

I once forgot to put my front brake pads back in again…. Pulled the lever (thankfully in the garage when the rotor was in) and was trying to work out why the lever came all the way back to the bar….

Hmm I have just asked sport pursuit to cancel and I will just go hope (which is what I should have done from the start)

I will call my local bike shop when sport pursuit confirm cancellation and order the hope gravel wheels – more expensive but then I can colour coordinate the hubs :)

Thanks all for your help – I thought I had gotten a really good deal :)

Gah…. Why do I feel they may be popping up on eBay….

I may see if I can cancel the order

Thanks I will send some pics when I get back home

When I release the tension on the bolt it flexes back to normal shape and sits flat

I am tempted to click the rail round by 1 notch on the right and see if whilst it’s twisted not under tension – when it’s tight it evens out

I just wondered if this was a common issue on hope seat posts ?

I would be only the facelift version as the older model hasn’t been updated inside for quite a while – which means no android auto or apple car play.

I like them but for me I wouldnt consider one that didn’t have the updated head unit

Well the route was up and over the Chilterns so it was always going to be hilly, over all was 995m of elevation over the 100km. Some tough climbs and I was careful on the downhills as I didn’t know the roads (top speed 56kph) . Definitely made a decision to swap the grx400 calipers for hope at some point as braking (even with hands on the drops) was vague

According to my Garmin watch, I have burned through 3,500 calories so far today which is almost a marathon…

I too have essentially browsed fridge and cupboards and I suspect I have consumed more than 3 500 calories:)

Regarding fuelling, I learnt this lesson when I was doing marathon training. For a half marathon, I don’t really need anything other than a cup of tea in the morning. But as soon as I run past 27 km I hit a wall and unless I’ve eaten something I will have a major problem. Today as I’d eaten breakfast, I brought a huel bar with me and a keto bar with me. I had them at 65km with a cup of tea. And this is one massive difference between running and cycling, if I’m running I have to eat on the move, cycling. I had a very dignified snack stop :) and then seemingly had no further problem getting back on the bike and within a few minutes back into the swing of things.

Yes, as long as nothing on the trailer requires something that the 13 pin would give then you’re absolutely fine. For the trailer, I suspect all you’ve got is the standard lights which will work perfectly well on 7pin.

All you need to do is just connect up ground and each of the individual lights that you need and you should be good to go. The only difference between the 7 and the 13 pin is to provide power for things that probably only caravans and more advanced trailers have

I have converted a relatively simple trailer and bike carrier from 7-pin to 13 pin as that’s what my car has and it was no hassle and no issues at all

You will find pinouts online as well as with more expensive adaptor plugs. They will come with a pinout diagram and all you need to do is just match what you need with what you’ve got.

I see that sport pursuit have

1800 SPLINE 700C Mountain Bike Wheels (Black)

Now the description is obviously wrong but they are definitely road/gravel wheels and they are £100 an end

    Worth a punt?

Thanks didnthurt – I think I might go for option number two…. I have hope wheels on my mountain bike. I won’t say I’ve noticed a massive performance improvement but they do look really good!

The wtb oem wheels that came on the bike

Originally I was looking at a set of hope gravel wheels as I like hope goodies but I am not sure which hub I need for the 10 speed Shimano cassette? (I know I can email hope and they are super helpful)

Thank you for correcting me on that, I presume that’s a fairly standard size so I should be okay to order from wherever?

Recommendations as to a good gravel wheel set? I presume the hunt ones are good?

I am fairly sure mine is a 15mm axel (it’s an orange rx9 – on my phone so can’t check at the moment)  but in terms of spacers I have a 10 speed hub on the back so any recent /new Shimano rear hub should have work ?

Re new /used not sure – I suppose if I see a good deal used else the hunt ones seem nice and are about £500 for the pair which works

Apart from “birds aren’t real” (Google it there is a website and everything) the other one I like is that Australia isn’t real and it’s just a conspiracy theory :)

For a long time I thought that the flat earth people were just having a laugh and weren’t being serious. I am sure that the flat earth society at University was just a drinking club run by the geography department

I can confirm it won’t ship to a UK address now…. I suspect either the shopping system has started to block countries based upon unusual patterns or they’ve simply just turned off the UK for now. I wouldn’t be surprised if they end up cancelling orders

Given it’s not load bearing I would go AliExpress or if you want it now Amazon (they have ti bolts )

This isn’t a recommendation but more a recommendation to avoid the maxxis receptor. They roll really well but they pick up punctures… Boy do they pick up punctures

I’ve had them on the bike for about a month now and I must have had nine punctures, four of which were so significant. I had to patch the tire from the inside as the sealant couldn’t seal them.

When they wear out, or I get bored repairing punctures, I’ll go with something else

Doing some googling around after I posted. I see that condor cycles have got something that sounds the same but for £8.99 – Will that do or do I need the full £27 version?

I know that they are more road orientated but lecol have got 40% off at the moment and with some careful Strava work you can then also get a £50  off voucher which you can stack on top

You might say that this brings their prices back down to where they probably should be !

You may need to be a member of their cycling club to take advantage, but I think you just need to register.

You might have more luck with a more aggressive solvent such as acetone, ethyl acetate or also try lighter fluid (works well on silicon oil and lipstick)

If ethyl acetate doesn’t shift it then just tape over it

re shops not accepting vouchers on discounted bikes – i had that happen to me in a specialized shop so i just went elsewhere. I refuse to believe that when the bikes had a 50% discount that the cycle scheme voucher charges would eat up the profit…. when a bike is 7k down to 3750 – but they want to charge me 7k – someone was about to see $$$ – if i had paid 7k for that bike the bike shop would have made £3250+ what ever the normal profit margin was on the discounted bike minus the cyclescheme charges

    quentyn

There seems to be the belief in this thread that you cannot use a cycle to work scheme voucher against a discounted bike? When I bought my last bike on the cycle to work scheme, I took full advantage of the significant discounts and then applied my cycle to work scheme bike voucher on top of that….

Ironically, the bike I bought on the cycle to work scheme I don’t now tend to commute in on as I just bought myself a gravel bike and it’s much more fun for commuting and I’m faster than driving. Though I did discover this morning that a gravel bike on single track is actually not as fun

    I would tell them

If you made such a costly mistake you would appreciate someone telling you

You know it’s not yours – to keep it may be not just morally wrong but a breach of the law

They may tell you to keep it in which case,.conscience clear it’s yours

I bought a pair of the endura ones in a sale before Xmas and they work well enough. I used them for MTN biking but they are waterproof and warm
