    Why are all the jokes about bass players one-liners?

    So drummers can understand them.

    Montane Extreme smock (x2 – older one is well over ten years old, new one bought this year) and my MSR Whisperlite. Both have got me through some fairly wild trips, neither are superlight but both have been bombproof for me.

    Welcome to the dark side. You’ll find we don’t need beige lenses with the letter L on them to make ourselves feel good here. :)

    You didn’t mention ‘Crow’ I remember we counted the number of times he paced up and down the chemistry lab and he covered nearly a mile in a double lesson. His wife’s home-made bras were legend.
    When did you leave I finished A-Levels in 1990.

    98, so a wee bit after you. What was Crow’s surname, struggling to remember! Fruity Frew and Miss Guard-yer-Arse were long-standing ones as well.

    Hitler Roberts- pretty obvious
    Bender Lonsdale – spent a lot of time hunched over, hands in pockets, change jangling
    Test-Tube Thompson – short, skinny, taught chemistry
    Dr ‘Zarkov’ Roberts – chemistry teacher, slight resemblance to Topol.

    Few others, but those were the most enduring.

    No, it’s a close relative of the Krullian Pipefish.

    Viewed a student property where the tenants were pissed off with the letting agents just showing up, not giving any notice, so three of the four bedrooms had the floors strewn with tatty jazz mags and sex toys. The fourth was immaculate. Chatted with one of the tenants and they were apologetic but wanted to embarrass the agent into doing things properly. It seemed to work, he went crimson.

    All three of my bikes are running Manitou Tower Pros, and I wouldn’t hesitate to buy a new set. Setup is easy, maintenance is easy and they’ve all been bombproof so far – past 3 years on my oldest set. CRC had some good deals on the newer Manitou forks – Marvels, I think. That’s where I’d be liking if I was buying new.

    Depends on how/where in the system those are coded. If you’d told your doctor you’d been abused, that wouldn’t need to be redacted. Adoption isn’t necessarily something that would be coded at all, unless you knew it and it was relevant to your record.

    I know from one of the systems that things coded in Journal entries are treated differently to things coded in Referrals or Medication tables, for example. It may be that the Journal codes aren’t published, but other tables are. I know I’ve had arguments with GPs over where they coded things when it came to measuring their electronic referrals and Choose & Book performance, seemingly missing coded that were actually in a different table etc…

    It’ll be reviewed, so even the full report may not be completely full.

    I doubt they’ll be reviewed, the volume would be too massive to go through and individually review/redact patient records. I know it was one of our GPs concerns, and I think that’s led to a tweak in provision. My understanding is that you won’t get to see free text notes, doctors opinions etc, but you’ll see any condition and medication information that would be recorded as Read Codes within the GP systems. That could be out-of-date info though, things get changed fairly swiftly at times…

    I deal with the data about the rollout of those services for the GP practices in Leeds. Have used the version in the EMIS and TPP SystmOne test environments, but never accessed my own record in a live system yet.

    cb – there shouldn’t be any security impact, you’ve given a login and password and have to have your account activated in the GP system before you can view it. Some practices well only give access to a Summary view, some will give a Full view option (difference in system functionality, but the aim is 95% of practices offering full record by the start of the next financial year)

    The Mindshift Gear packs get pretty good reviews, I’ve not tried one but they seem popular – http://www.mindshiftgear.com/

    Depending on your budget, F-Stop Gear might be worth a look as well. I use their Kenti and Loka, though for what you’re describing the Guru and a small ICU might be a good setup – http://fstopgear.com/

    Not drunken, but the lowest point of my teenage life had to be while racing the Trans-Pennine kayak race along the Leeds-Liverpool canal. Stupid o’clock in the morning, suffering a few saddle sores, waddling along the towpath at one of the pages with shorts round the knees while one of my support crew slaps Sudocreme on my behind and a banana in my mouth simultaneously. Fortunately he got the two the right way round…

    Three, in no particular order:
    – The Levellers – Levelling The Land;
    – Urban Species – Blanket;
    – Nirvana – Unplugged in New York.

    All still on regular rotation on the MP3 player.

    Other people are in in the building, but I’m the only on in from my room itself.

    I’ve propped the door to reception open, so me and our receptionist can chat while we both pretend to actually be doing something productive…

    Probably 75mm (50mm f/1.8 on a DX sensor).

    Just discovered that the Nikon 35mm DX actually covers the full frame on my D750 with only a small amount of vignette, so that’ll probably become a favourite somewhere.

    DrJ – I avoided the 70-200mm f/2.8s for years just on the basis of weight, shot on a Tokina 50-135mm f/2.8 DX* which was pretty equivalent range but a fraction of the size and weight. Now have the 70-200 f/4 and absolutely love it – a lot of the benefits, but handholdable for an entire day without my arms falling off.

    *which, coincidentally, is up for sale on the classifieds at the moment…

    On the few occasions I’ve sold shots for anything, I’ve tended to look at the London Freelance website for guidance. Can be a bit heavy going, but full of useful stuff.

    Depends where you are, but in Leeds I go to the little place round the corner from me in Headingley for colour development, and do B&W myself.

    Boots development is okay, but their scanning last time I tried it was dire. Really crap resolution and grainy as hell, got better scans from my mate’s ebay-special Canoscan.
