Because when you do that you startle people and are in teh wrong.

Rubbish, in what way would that be wrong?

Yes, I have been using mine as a commuter, I think they are mavic A119 rims I’m using, have been running cross tyres on it recently for a bit of grip in the snow. Brakes are avid bb7s. Seems to be working fine.

Is it just me or is this Special77 character spouting some of the most incredible bilge I’ve ever seen, even for STW?

    POT! KETTLE!!

No, it’s dimensionally correct, (speed*time)^2 gives metres squared.

Yeah there is a specific tool available to remove it. If you are lucky or have arms like a gorilla you might get away without the tool…

I was there yesterday, it was fine, don’t think rain is much of an issue as the surface is almost all rock/hardpack. Could get interesting with snow and ice though!

Really? Didn’t think they ever did a scandal with sliding dropouts, thought it was just horizontal dropouts?

Just got in from a night ride, rather disconcerting nearly coming to a halt when pedalling downhill!

Now as things have progressed, there are now major developer / publisher houses which control what hits the market.

That’s down to how much it costs to make a modern game, the vast expenditure required restricts it to the major publishers. Also makes them very risk averse, which doesn’t help innovation.

Uncle Johns take normal mtb hubs, so 135mm OLD for the rear hub. I have hope XCs in mine, proIIs would be fine.

Looks like yet another Exotic-with-a-different-sticker, and at almost twice the price.

Exotics aren’t post mount are they?

I have the same problem with thomson layback posts, the clamp design is the same as the inline posts but the bend means the available range of saddle angles is tilted backwards.

I used Nevegals and 24″ tubes, worked fine but definitely needed sealant!

Don’t think no_discerning_taste has spotted this thread yet…

Some might say you are already stopped so who cares?

I’d stick to a singlespeed if I were you, gears are clearly too complicated…

Some might say that getting off the bike would be a disadvantage…

You can change your gear quite easily stopped with dérailleur gears.

    Really?

I reject the idea that the thread was diluted

Good point, 5 pages of SF arguing is entirely on topic for a thread about depression…

And getting completely ignored by fashion victims, brand snobs and the generally ignorant. Which is a nice definition of underrated,

No, that would be a nice definition of ignored.

Yeah, boardmans are really underrated. Except for all the reviews and the legions of people recommending them on “what bike” threads… 🙄

Minimalist means carrying everything one needs but nothing extraneous

A meaningless distinction, surely everyone carries what they think they are going to need?

    pypdjl

    Or have I missed something?

Yes. It’s 400 times less than an accredited lab is required to be able to detect, not 400 times less than an acceptable amount.

If the amount of whatever it is in Contador’s sample is 400 times less than the amount the testers are obliged to report

It’s not, try actually reading the story!

Its the people with 10 kgs of stuff that make me laugh.

What camelbak for carrying giant straw men?

    pypdjl

here is the challenge. Remembering its a local ride give me a scenario that I would not be able to cope with with my kit and preparation but that you would be able to with all your extra kit.

    Meteor strike?

    That 1.5 litres is insufficient.

Depends how far you are riding and how much you need to drink, surely!

apparently according to some you must carry a rucsac as you must carry 3l of water and loads of tools and spares – even for a couple of hours in the local trails.

Yes, I’m sure that is an accurate assessment of peoples views in this thread, and not a strawman in any way at all…

There is no situation I have been in or that I can think of when what I carry would not be enough.

How do you carry the x-ray goggles required to tell the amount of water someone has in their camelbak?

I’ve developed HPLC cleaning methods for API’s and the result that they are getting (if my maths is right) is 3 orders of magnitude (2 if we used a larger injection volume) below the range we would be looking at for direct injection.

Quantitation of 5 pg/ml in plasma is possible these days, pointless speculating without knowing more about their methodology though.

The substance may be easy to detect, but at very low concentrations the laboratory detection and reporting errors become a statistically significant component

50 pg/ml isn’t a particularly low level, you can routinely detect much lower concentrations than that.

Can anyone explain why 3 l of water is needed for a ride of a few hours?

Can you explain how you can tell how much water someone is carrying in a camelbak and how far they are riding just by looking at them?

    pypdjl

Modern consumerism, that is all. Mostly waste.

Surely wasteful consumerism would be owning 5 different camelbaks all of slightly different sizes to make sure you had exactly the right sized bag for any length of ride…

I had 80mm rebas on a scandal, upped them to 100mm with no ill effects. It’s a fairly simple job to do as well, so I say go for it!

Well, that’s me convinced. They may be high maintenance and prone to suddenly falling apart, but as long as they look nice…

Owning six doesn’t seem to mean I wear each one sixth of the rate as I would wear one, rather they all seem to wear and require expenditure just as fast as ever.

Arrh, not quite sure how it is possible, but I find that to be the case as well. Most distressing!

Does anyone else feel the same thing?

No, you are literally the first person ever to express such sentiments on a mountain bike forum, well done.
